i feel like we are going over 150 this time or soon, but i'm way more anxious about buying in at 140 than when we were at back in the 90s and contemplating whether we would hit 100 in July. I'd rather we just go back down to 110 before i buy again, but hopefully that will happen before too long and i loose my nerve and buy in above 140.
You had your chance to buy cheap coins when the price was artificially below 130 during the recent beartrap.
Hm, what do you mean artificially? To me that implies manipulation. The only potential manipulation would be a cash whale wanting a lower price.. which isnt... really manipulation.
After systematically pushing the price up for almost two months with well-placed periodic large buys accompanied by immediate bidwalls to prevent slippage, then after letting market inertia carry for a couple of days without intervention, using a couple of 5k-6k dumps to panic the price down by over $20, they spent a similar amount to return it to where it started, buying and hoarding an unknown amount of coins when the price was down below 130.
Not manipulation? This whole market is a manipulation circlejerk.
This is why outdated 19th-century/early-20th-century technical analysis is futile in the world of Bitcoin. It's time to think outside the box or get stuck in the tarpits like dinosaurs.
I earned bitcoins daytrading back in March/April by anticipating dDOS attacks on MtGox. The smart money now is on anticipating whale manipulation.
Of course the smart people don't publicize their predictions, or at least not precisely.
What a dick
He might be a dick but he's not wrong. I've been saying it for a long time, but I'll say it again. Tech analysis can work well in larger markets, but bitcoin is simply far too small for it to be of much use (I use it in some situations, but mostly stick to fundamentals).
Noone is obliged to follow technical analysis
But for those who want better results than buy and hold , they are invited to try the technical analysis for bitcoin.
The bitcoinbullbear service has outperformed buy and hold by orders of magnitudes over 3 years consistently
You must be extremely rich?
It's not about me but about helping making our subscribers richer
Ah yes, obviously. How did i miss that part.
This is no joke.
The customer is always the number one priority in our philosophy. Egoistic goals and business success comes thereafter.
Ofcourse. Your mission in life is to make other people rich. Yourself you don't really care about getting rich. Eventhough it must be extremely easy for you.
I absolutely don't doubt this.
Your service is 100% free i assume. Otherwise your story wouldn't make much sense.

what will happen if gox runs out of btc's?
will it just continue to rise on other exchanges in even higher tempo ("get the last ones")
or will the whole thing just collapse on other exchanges too?
just wondering, if btcs are becoming so sparse, how the heck can a viable economy be established around our favorite virtual currency?
and the last thing: if gox takes our money and bitcoins (24h btc delay issue my **); it will just disappear with all our btc and money. The disappointment with bigger investors might be so great the whole thing also just collapses, no?

so if the price keeps rising, how would we ever use it as a real currency to buy stuff?
i'm pretty sure everybody who has them has them for buy and hold or making profit, not for purchasing goods - I certainly don't because in two months the price might have doubled, and I would curse myself for giving them away "back then" instead of using real currency.

(going to sleep in an hour)
risk waking up with the chinese going berserk again and missing a 190$ buyin point

pff this kinda sucks about bitcoin: the exchanges never close.

The thin orderbook is perfect for small increases of my fiat: buy at 181.5, sell at 184.5, its only a .25% fee or so at stamp => 1% profit per trade. Managed to do 5 or so succesful.

Why are we going down?
I think there is a group of people who speculated in the last bubble and only check things like bitcoin over the weekend, and they see this as an opportunity to get out.

I almost did this back in 2011 when I was drunk. Why, oh why, didn't I.
For highly analytical people like me, we make some of the best decisions when drunk.
Do you have an explanation for this?
Yeah, it stops second-guessing, lets you go with your gut, keeps you from getting bogged down in the details and missing the forest for the trees. It's a corrective for over-analysis, so it only works if you're actually prone to over-analysis. (The right amount of alcohol. Too much is eventually worse, of course.)

Post 3777196 (copy this link) (by Kj1) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_11.31h):
noticed a pattern, just before the april correction, there was a huge LTC pump. (from .05 to .5 in 2 days).
Then a steady selloff; like one increased their btc stash significantly.
After huge LTC dumps at higher prices, the selloffs at gox started (like one day later).
Now, LTC was pumped from .08 to .5, now steadily dropping with huge (several times >5K btc) selloffs.
Pattern? Bad sign? Or just coincidence?
It looks logical to increase your BTC amount by playing altcoins, if you have a decent amount of btc you can really manipulate the altcoin market. Then cash out the profit using btc (gox), causing a drop and hopefully a panic sell. Then buy back low. I guess you'd be able to make at least x10 using this in a few days, if you are lucky and have the balls. Anyway, by only gambling with profit from the altcoins the gambler doens't risk anything...

my oversimplified analysis:
everybody expected a drop, so they were ready to buy in the dip.

basically the price does often the opposite of what people expect, something you have expressed alot here
The more "to the moon" yells here the more chance of a price drop
and we're waiting for a drop means it won't come when expected.

Post 4668601 (copy this link) (by Kj1) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_11.57h):
I can see the future!
so everybody is waiting for a drop.
So it aint gonna come when expected (the next weeks). Nothing is gonna happen in china.
So the price will rise when its in this "stable phase" long enough - a lot of btc'ers are trigger happy panic buy/sellers which buy due to 'no negative news when expected'.
So they'll buy, when the price starts to rise. It might go up to 1000 or more, even ATH if we are lucky.
then the large and patient btc holders will sell alot due to the fear which is currently present. They will profit. Significant price drop to lets say 750 or so.
Then the ones above who panic bought, panic sell at a lower price. Driving price down to 500'ish
The patient ones then buy back and we're back at 800 again.
At that point I will consider the December crash & fallout over, and see it as the starting of the consolidation phase. Slow rise/decline, whatever, untill something big happens (btc's as part of "risky investments portfolio's with banks or sth). That something can and will not be some retailer accepting BTC, we've had enough of that to influence the price significantly.

Conclusion
To put things in perspective, it's important to remember that Bitcoin is a very new technology and still very much in its early stages. What MtGox and the Bitcoin community have experienced in the past year has been an incredible and exciting challenge, and there is still much to do to further improve.
MtGox will resume bitcoin withdrawals to outside wallets once the issue outlined above has been properly addressed in a manner that will best serve our customers.
More information on the status of this issue will be released as soon as possible.
We thank you for taking the time to read this, and especially for your patience.
Best Regards,
MtGox Team

I'd like to suggest some calming music during these crazy Bitcoin times:
Elvis Costello - I Can't Stand Up For Falling Down
Tom Petty - Freefalling
Tom Waits - Down Down Down
and when it gets really bad:
the doors - this is the end

Do you have any proof of sending 50k to mtgox? This is not speculation is throwing money off the window. You might win, but still it's stupid to do.

is it time to buy yet?
sentiment is turning here (we're going to be rich -> we're doomed), which has been the best indicator in the past as a buy signal. And vica versa (420 wow 440 wow to the moon === sell)
