It's crazy how people are driven by FUD.
They don't see the big picture.
The only news that seems to have a reason to me are charts and those graphs that picture the adoption, surging, uncertaintment phases of cryptos throughout these years.
We are into an evolution process, the only thing is understanding the timing to invest/make gainz or just hodling, not whether or not leaving. Blockchian is here to stay.
Of course, going all in one crypto could be riskful.
The big picture is that real world adoption of bitcoin seems to be going backwards not forwards.

...BTC is not meant to become the definitive payment method...
That's not true. BTC is not complete if we can't use it as a payment method.
BTC had problems because exchanges were spamming the network by not batching their transactions and many of them are only recently upgraded to segwit.
If you can't pass your bitcoin to the next person to get something in return, its no better than tulips.
To achieve these problems and stay as decentralized as possible, bitcoin/lightning devs created the Lightning Network but its still not fully adopted yet. (because its in beta) So we can expect even more growth in the future.
I agree bitcoin was suddenly being described as a store of wealth when it failed as a payment system due to long confirmation times and excessive fees.

https://medium.com/@super.crypto1/4th-dimension-bitcoin-manipulation-cartel-can-it-be-burnt-no-way-c53de65c166a+
Why do they do this?
It’s all about money control. Financial elite has recognized that Bitcoin and Crypto in general is a threat to their existence. What do powers do when they see anything as a threat or enemy? You got it, they try to destroy the enemy (by all means). Therefore, It is extremely important for the Financial-elite to stop bitcoin’s rise so their show can continue.
What do they do to stop the RISE of Bitcoin? They first let it rise to unimaginable height (20K first stop). Then they drop it to unimaginable lows. They will do this many times. They have trillions of dollar to maintain the show going, UNTIL the RETAIL investor gives up in frustration. What you are seeing since Mid-2017 is just the 1st inning of 9 innings Bitcoin game.
Bitcoin has been placed into Geopolitical chessboard since Mid-2017. Most of the Bitcoiners have NO IDEA how big this game is. Crypto space is just a pawn on this chessboard and there are elite-fingers moving these pawns (Gold, Silver and now Bitcoin).
Here's the thing. Bitcoin has already checkmated anyone who is trying to play this game. Even if gold and silver are as manipulated as this article suggests there is a significant difference between those precious metals and Bitcoin. The only way for precious metals to have a utility like bitcoin's is when paper currencies based on non fractional reserves of those metals are distributed. The world gave up on this, and up until now that hand has played very well for central banks but Bitcoin is going to destroy that game. Bitcoin's utility is already too great for manipulators to be able to corner it like they have the precious metals assumedly. In the end if they throw all their massive amounts of money at BTC to try to manipulate it what do you think that means will actually happen?
There is strong talk that a gold backed Yuan and a silver backed ruble are imminent.
Everything is manipulated inc. bitcoin (by whales and exchange bots currently) and its naive to think otherwise. When bankers run the world behind the scenes controlling the laws and the money printing presses they can own and control anything they wish too.
Always makes me laugh when people here claim they can manipulate the gold markets but not bitcoin for some reason even though gold's market cap dwarfs bitcoin.

For the gold bugs:

Except your charts are nonsense.
Gold cannot be counterfeited. It is an element and cannot be recreated. You can buy something shiny and yellow but its not hard to work out if its real gold or not.
Sovereign - Most countries issue government gold e.g. eagles, britannias, krugerrands, pandas etc. and what about the "Gold sovereign" is that sovereign enough for you.
Decentralised - how many people own a gold ring or piece of jewellery. A lot more than hold crypto + you have individual investors that purchase gold in bar or coin form.
Divisible - you can buy gold down to grains (15.4324 grains to 1 gram), gold flakes, gold leaf etc.
Portability - a 1kg gold bar is the size of a smart phone, how big is a pile of fiat worth £32k?
Scarce - All the gold ever mined fits in 1 Olympic swimming pool.
Easily transactable - Depends how you define it. Globally you can walk into a dealer/jeweller with gold and walk out with the local currency. I have previously sold over £50k gold to a bullion dealer, walked in and funds were in my account by the next morning. Currently have over £400k worth of gold which will be easy to sell in 1 hit when I choose too.
SMART (programmable) - Just another way of saying "adding 3rd party risk" as the programmable parameters of bitcoin are not in your control.
Biased nonsense.

So you are comparing 1 bitcoin to 1 troy oz?
How did you come to those units of measurement.
Gold is often sold in grains, grams, imperial oz, troy oz, tolas, taels, kg, tonnes.
Direct comparison is impossible.
Try comparing total market cap and come back to me.

The reasons why you should buy my turds for $8000 each:
I poop all over the place, so it's decentralized. You can trade my turds anonymously; no middle man is required.
There is a finite quantity of my turds, which makes them a good store of value. There's the total amount of turds I've made so far, plus the turds I'll make until I'm dead, and then that's it - no more.
Sure, anyone can make their own turds, but I came up with idea of selling my turds first, and everybody knows about it, so my brand of turds has more value. If you spent $3000 on electricity processing my turd transactions, I will mail you one of my freshly made turds.
Can't afford $8000 for 1 turd? They're divisible.

Goes against the grain here but I have always said for me personally I use crypto for short term gains then plough the profits into gold for the mid to long term.
In the future I see crypto being banned with state issued and controlled crypto being the legal alternative.

Gold has no future because of the upcoming power abundance. Right now it is extremely inefficient to make gold which can be done but to produce 1 gram it would cost you a million dollars so digging it up is far more economical.
Bitcoin is limited does not matter how much free, very cheap power you have you cant produce more only push up the hash-rate to astronomical levels. Free or extremely cheap power you still need a unit of measurement to contact business. And the other thing prof of stake or any of the other stuff the carpet is ripped right out under there feed if power or environment is not an issue.
Trust me its on the way and or in place.
Your so full of shit.
By your own figures (which are inaccurate) power costs would have to reduce 99.96% just to break even on buying a mined, fully refined 1g gold.
And that doesnt even include the building and running costs of the new power plants then the nuclear reactors or particle accelerators required to produce the tiny amounts of gold.

Strawman much?
First off, I originally specifically said "Gold's monetary utility is also easily replaceable.", already taking into account that gold has other utility than just the monetary one.
Secondly, I was talking about the concept of intrinsic value in general.
Firstly, I said that bitcoin would be far worse to use as gold as an monetary asset, because it has no intrinsic value, and that creates more instability. Now when you are telling that intrinsic value doesn't exist, then you are either trolling me or just confused

Intrinsic value is based on the important needs of society. Electronics is a very important need in today's society. Telling that intrinsic value of gold is bullshit, is saying that we could very well live without electronics. Yeah you could. There are plenty of people living like that in PNG, go visit them and see how well their economy is doing

Please don't try to provoke needless arguments with me. While talking with markj113, I really felt good that I'm talking to someone who isn't a religious fiend. Please don't ruin this experience for me

Bad intentions bring out the worse in me

This shows the power of gold as a monetary asset.
This is my Double gold Doubloon from Spain's King Phillip II's rein in the 1500's.
It still has purchase power 500 years later due the gold content.

Nice pieces, but aren't their historical value higher then the value of their gold content?
Yes but same principle applies to old gold sovereigns for example that are over a hundred years old but only worth bullion values.
Do you even listen to yourself? Intrinsic value is based on the needs of society....
How do you call the needs of a society "intrinsic" to a piece of gold?
And then you call me confused...
I thought he made that clear - industrial uses. There are also cultural uses such as wedding rings and other jewellery, dentistry etc.

It's a pleasure to talk to you, because you seem to understand the game. Even if our views on some things are different, it doesn't matter, because we are able to express ourselves in a respectful and constructive form.
I'm not proud of it, but I mostly come here to troll. Religious people have always brought out the troll in me, and I haven't found a better way to converse with them yet. From time to time, it's a pleasant surprise to see that you can actually express yourself as an human being and it will be understood.

Silver is bad enough but you can cram a lot of money in gold form into peli case

Yeah, it's kind of funny when some guy shows up bragging about his lambo and gold bars, when over half the people in this thread probably have a higher net worth.
I just find it ammusing how many bitcointards get triggered at any negative bitcoin comments.
People here need to realise its an investment and ditch the emotional almost religious extremist attachment to it.
They claim how bitcoin is so superior, decentralized bla bla bla but here we are over 20,500 pages of people obsessing with bitcoin based on fiat values.
Slight negative story in the media from the US, China etc. and bitcoin shits the bed.
Yeah and the silent ones like Loaded even more so.
Not only that, but if you check the guy's post history, it's clear he went like 99% all into gold around the 2015/2016 timeframe.
Bad move.
Don't get me wrong, I like and own some gold too. But I'm willing to bet that $600K of bitcoin will hit $2-3M worth WAY before $600K of his gold will. And in very short order.

I actually sold all my gold after the post Brexit vote gold price spike and paid off my current house.
Started stacking gold/silver again just over 12 months ago.
$600k of bitcoin @ $19k would now be worth $239k and that is the real danger of bitcoin, it can crash just as quick as it pumps

Basically, they're the worst type of holders, who're ready to sell it at any moment. I know that folks there don't like alt coins, but they give a great liquidity to Bitcoin, people who diversify their portfolio with alternate cryptocurrency to increase their deposit in BTC at the end point is the best investors at the market right now.
People that invest in the markets are not interested in the companies just the return on their investment.
For bitcoin to grow and achieve mass adoption a small group of fan boys isnt going to cut it and you need large inflows of cash.

A PAIR of lambos? I do not even want to buy one. Why does a lambo seem like a big waste of money no matter how much one has? My car can beat a lambo and it doesnt even cost half as much.
I mean true, i'll be fair, I'm young (26) and I like the idea of one but as a family guy, no fucking way. What am I going to do, leave the baby at home? Show up to my office job in a fucking lambo? If I was divorced and looking for tail I get it but no thanks. If I came into a windfall of money I would go GTR, tons of power and that back seat.
You buy a daily driver for normal life and a lambo for those sunny weekends when you have a bit of free time.
A waste of money, well depends on your circumstances. If you and your family are financially secure then why not, when your an old man laying on your death bed will you remember how much money you hoarded, that boring shit box of a family car or will you remember flying around in the sun driving a lambo.
I happily trade money for life experiences.

So I'm thinking instead of a lambo, which let's face it is mostly about how it looks, might get a Tesla instead. The future is obviously electrical, and it's actually a practical car.
By the time electrical cars are mainstream the tesla with current battery technology will look like a nokia compared to an iphone X.
Screaming V10/V12 > soulless electric shit box.
Huracan performante or Aventador SV for me all day.

Ok. Admittedly I know nothing about IOTA.
Shitty algorithm that can get clogged for free which was shittily pumped with propaganda.
It's Obviously The Asshole of the top 10.
Also centralised (co-ordinator) and people still waiting for funds to be returned that were taken by the foundation without consent about a year ago.
Lots of people also forced to go through a KYC process just to get back funds that were previously held in their private wallets.

(They should be Ferraris. Much more impressive car than the Lambo)
Unless it is a Huracan Performante or Aventador SVJ that has just taken the nurburgring record, balls of steel:

Come on man! It hasn't even moved since that last time you showed us. You're still paying for it, aren't you!
We have actually had the best summer in the UK since 1976, clocked up lots of miles and got some track days in too

Really did pay for it in full with
BTC profit, A bit of luck with timing and a few select altcoins +
BTC and it can be life changing!
Dont lose faith with the current price drops.

Nicer doors than mine and must be a V12 lol.
V10 lambo doors open outwards, V12 Lambo doors open up.

Hm. The Hurrican I was testing out had the doors opening outwards, but checking I see it is merely a V10. No wonder it was such a slug on the track.....
Thanks for the bit of knowledge. Diablo or bust for me I guess.
The huracan does 0-60 between 2.8 to 3.3 seconds depending on model, not exactly slow. The performante is a track monster.
Did you have it Corsa mode or did they put it in soft auto Strada mode?
Any huracan would kill a diablo around a track, Aventador is the current flagship V12 after the murcielago (not taking into account the specials like the centenario)

I am conflicted on organ donation. On one hand, it makes our species as a whole weaker as people who should have died stay alive and procreate, breeding even more weak and sickly people. On the other, it maximizes the use of resources. Difficult.
So by that logic we should stop all foreign aid and let them all die from starvation and disease.
Stop all welfare payments so the unemployed (often less intelligent), sick and disabled die.
Stop anti-biotics so only the strongest survive infection.
Why not get rid of the police so society devolves into survival of fitness?

SV have news today, released a roadmap with a promise of up to 6.5 million transactions per second
But why? I'm not even going to consider whether or not they can accomplish that, but why would anyone ever need 100+ times more transactions than Visa processes?
Probably going to be needed for all the
BTC dumping thats about to happen lol

I would say that quote is bollocks.
How many people across the world own a piece of gold jewellery or a gold coin?
Gold is far more decentralised than bitcoin (mining and coin distribution is far from decentralised)

Hey Roach since you enjoy your low probability doomsday scenarios, what happens when we get to a point in the future when we can manufacture gold or silver in a massive and cheap way and the price drops to make it worth as much as say... Aluminium?
You could just as easily say, what happens when technology advances to a degree where it renders all encryption methods useless thus crashing bitcoin value to zero.

Its clear that crypto has failed as a currency for the most part. Its mainly a store of value, digital gold. Store of value is better imo.
How can something with the volatility of
BTC be a store of value.
It's just become a speculative gamble.

Just so you know if I sold my bitcoin’s & spent all the fiat on silver (looking at the price of around 1kg = £500) I’d probably fill a couple of large cargo trucks.
Seen as your quoting £'s silver isnt the best investment in the UK due to VAT applied.
Try gold, at about £38k a kg you wont have the same cargo truck issues lol.
