That's not going to happen until
BTC reaches a fairly high market cap, something like 100k per coin, and even then there will likely be continued and ongoing increases in value.

That's actually quite a level headed gamble. It would have worked in your favour a couple of times now (... and one day it won't of course, and then you lose big, but you knew that).
Myself, I'll go all in again the second it touches under $600.
Volume is actually much better now than before the previous big dumps. Not great, but not abysmal either.
Better wait for the 583 dip, was confirmed multiple times last couple of days.

Okay, umm but what's so different? We actually had less positive news last year, it seems. In fact, we just had the silk road seizure back then.
There is no positive or negative, there is just movement. Every news can bear or bull. If that is "good" or "bad" for you is a whole other story.

Someone is definatelly dumping A LOT of coins. But I don't think it's manipulation now. Just someone with a lot of coins to dump, look at the 1k ask wall at 2940 on HooBoy and he dumped few k to bring it down accross major exchanges. If someone is willing to give up coins at these prices i'll gladly take as many as i can
Looks like the overall sentiment is that bitcoin is undervalued and market wants to go up. BFX longs lost 12MM or 30% (i think BFX did an amazing job controlling that avalanch), and shorts are up by like 2k BTC. All indicators are pointing up, lets see how many coins Mr Dump has, if it's Gox's coins this might take a while
There are still a lot of stolen/auctioned coins around and the long stall could be a motivator for one or more of those people to dump some % of their stash. My guess is that it will go down more probably around 350-400 and then go up slowly first, then gaining more speed up quickly towards new years eve.

Interesting thought: Would the CEOs of the exchanges know the reason for the low price? I mean, they obviously know who are dumping and putting up huge ask walls. If the account belongs to payment processing companies, obviously they are cashing out highly likely due to the coins from merchants. If the account belongs to institutional funds, obviously they are trying to control the price. If the account belongs to miners, obviously they are cashing out mined coins.
Frankly, I'm not aware of anything to prevent the exchanges front running the market. It would be profitable and very hard to prove, therefore it is probably happening.
Rule #1: If there is money involved, someone is doing it.

I think the best lesson from the last month is to keep a bid open $10-20 below market. The buyer makes a quick profit on the bounce, and the dumper makes less money on the drop.

In a veritable sea of good news the decline seems to have stalled.
Looking at a 12 hour chart on bitcoinwisdom of stamp it looks surprisingly bullish. A sequence of higher lows. A move upwards to retest the 680 area (despite the doom mongering reaching an almost overwhelming din on here the last few weeks) looks both possible and if it occurs over the next month would be a nice platform for a potential next move upwards. If that happens then it will look really obvious that the 3xx low was THE low and all the bears will be wondering why they didn't buy in between 3xx and 650
.

It seems r/bitcoin is trending, apparently on the back of a perfect storm of attention because of Paypal, Apple, Bank Of England, Satoshi hack, etc. within a few days of each-other. Lots of noobs are showing up asking to know what bitcoin is all about. Now we don't know for sure if financial types will be doing the same to their brokers right now, but it seems a pretty daft time to sell this weekend.
