as i said, mooncoin on cryptsy is getting very hot, maybe this spike down affected altcoins. But there is a lot of bid support and eating ask.... https://www.cryptsy.com/markets/view/145

hah, that coin's value has so many zeroes after the decimal point I needed to put my finger over the screen to count them. And that's when valued against LTC. Houston, we have a problem.

Just speculating here.

If you were a whale with a large holding and were able to manipulate the market and were also looking at getting some of these FBI/SR coins, would it not be in your best interests to try and drive the market price down before the auction so that you could acquire the coins at auction at the lowest possible price ?

Yes, but only if you sold less coins than you plan on buying. It would be a risky move that could backfire (sure someone will try it though).

Personally I'm pretty sure most, if not all, batches of FBI coins will sell for a premium. Not because the coins are "clean" or "collectible", but because the investors would happily pay more to avoid slippage.

Think about this hypothetical situation:

20 individuals bid on the coins. I think most investors would bid for more than 1 batch of coins, with a number of bids below market and a number above market price. You only need half of the individuals to make a single bid over market price for all the coins to sell at a premium.

In other words, if you think ALL of the coins will sell at a discount, then that means that NOT A SINGLE BIDDER will bid over market. Pretty unlikely I would say.

Huge manipulation going on. Bitcoin just touched down 309 on BTC-e

Selling =/= manipulation.

Well a normal seller wouldn't dump thousands of coins at market price, as they'd lose a shit load of money due to slippage. So in this case I'd say it was most likely manipulation.

Small correction incoming by the looks of it, will be interesting to see how much support holds in the next hour or two.

Hitting the resistance level at ~ $920.

With a little bit of buying we could shoot past this level into the $940 range. Then either bull run back up to $1000+ levels, or sell-off back to the $850 levels. I think this is the most likely scenario [edit, I mean the breaking of the 920 level to the upside is likely], then... (perhaps 70% chance of bull run, 30% chance of drop to ~ $850, if the $920 barrier is broken to the upside)

If the resistance level at $920 isn't broken (but I think it will be), we could see a further drop, perhaps to $750-800.

That's my feeling looking at the charts, anyway.

It looks bullish to me. keep hodling, hodlers... lets keep this rollercoaster climbing!

Just because we don't break 920 doesn't mean we're going to crash down to 750

No, it doesn't mean that, just that it's probable. Anyway we've gone to 925 now, so it's looking bullish imo.

We can only speculate on probabilities, no-one knows the future. But the charts are looking rather healthy.

Are you dumping silver for cheaper BTC rebuy ?

What kind of fool would do that?  Silver is at cost of production or even below it for some miners.  Silver is a far better buy than BTC.  Next metals bull run will probably be gold $3000-3200, silver $90-120.  If there's some type of big economic event or lots of printing, gold $5000-ish, silver $166-$200.  If they're forced to revalue gold entirely in one act, gold will be set to $10-20k and silver will be astronomical.

Well that sounds very unrealistic to me. Especially considering the market caps of PMs and how much capital is needed to affect the price, the prices that you speak of (especially gold) would probably take years to reach those levels. The case with silver reaching nearly 10x its current price is more realistic due to its lower market cap, and its higher industrial value as a percentage of its worth (compared to gold), but still seems very unlikely to me.

The next few months will be an interesting time for bitcoin, and I'm sure we'll see some volatility, but the utility of bitcoin and other cryptos over PMs just make them a far better long term hedge IMO. For a non cryptocurrency investment I would be looking into property and land, over PMs.

That said, in the words of Wu-Tang Financial: "You need to diversify yo bonds, nigga"

( for the ones that don't trust me to pay still just waiting for a trusty member to react on this and be confirmt by 2 other trusted members and i deposit the amount with them ......)

ONLY GOOD INTENTIONS

 Wink Wink Wink Wink

I think the price will get close to the price of $2789 on Bitstamp (on July 6th) within 24 hours from now, and then there will be a correction, probably bringing the price down to the region of $2400. After the weak hands have sold, I speculate the price will shoot upwards again once more, and will hit an ATH around 24 hours after that.

I call ATH on 22nd of July, at 16.32 GMT.

Yeehaw.

 Cheesy

Weird move that one. Seems like someone/some people just decided to market buy 700 BTC at once, for some reason... EDIT: and that was just on Bitstamp...

EDIT2: Looks like the move started a little earlier on the Chinese exchanges (OKcoin and BTC China), then probably bots on Finex and Bstamp carried on the move upwards? The next few hours might be interesting.
