That’s all very good and well. But the only alt coins that have shown any value to date so far are stable coins. And even they are quite dubious. Tether and Dai have shown us that current stable coins are not stable. They had one job....
Until we have at least one alt coin which has achieved something, I’m afraid your argument has no practical application, and is of theoretical interest only.
I personally cannot believe that tether still exists.
Reason behind it been still alive could be because of the marketing strategies been used by some exchanges to try and keep tether alive and relevant by paying with tether certain tasks on the exchange
Nice strong comeback 600watt but toknormal does bring out some valid points too! (Both posts deserve some m*rit)

I've bought many things online but to be perfectly honest its just too much of a hassle to use in real stores in my area. Its usually an area that claims to accept btc but the cashier doesn't know how it works and has to get help from the owner, and the worst is if
they make you wait for a confirmation even though it is a 10 dollar transaction.
You know what, that's a smart owner!
if you are going to go to a store and be economical on the fees, you pay the price...

The store owner might have had some bad experience with this and chose to go with the basics of waiting for atleast 1 confirmation, which is okay with me because you have to account for any possible double spending that can cancel out the first transaction and you are left with a negative 10 dollars. So better safe than sorry.
Would rather just use my card and be in and out.
Hope this doesn't count as advertising other service providers but wirex can save you with the same service as your visa or mastercard provider, just exchange you btc to fiat before getting to the store.

I actually like the lower fees, but at the end of the day people are just going to shill whatever they hold and call everything else a scam.
If it is as scam , call it as it is! SCAM!!
Why can't we have multiple bitcoins, the main one as the store of value like gold and have the other versions for small daily transactions.
NO offence but there can only be one bitcoin! Multiple versions of bitcoin doesn't change anything, those will forever remain as ALTCOINS !!!

Two fake cryptocurrency apps—"Trezor Mobile Wallet” and “Coin Wallet – Bitcoin, Ripple, Ethereum, Tether” app—have been spotted on the Google Play store. According to ESET researchers, there was an “overlap in code and interface” of the two apps. The apps have since been removed from the store.

Pointers I felt hold water:
- Bitcoin by the year 2020-2021 would be trading @~$55000 based On btc halving, and according to the author money will come from "silver, gold, countries with negative interest rate (Europe, Japan, US soon), countries with predatory governments (Venezuela, China, Iran, Turkey etc), billionaires and millionaires hedging against quantitative easing (QE), and institutional investors discovering the best performing asset of last 10 yrs."
- Bitcoin SF soon to catch up to that of Gold
- possibility of achieving a $1trn market after the halving in May 2020
- "Bitcoin is the first scarce digital object the world has ever seen"

I like the reasoning, education will literally give children the tools to survive in the future....metaphorically speaking education teachs them how to fish not being spoon fed by giving them fish which makes them lazy. It pains me to say this but believe it or not so many people buy this stuff, possible reason why BTC hasn't gone to the moon!
With so many of these bitcoin copy cats(altcoins) it's likely that people who have never used the real bitcoin(BTC) and just hear about it could be the most likely to buy because they will be blinded by the ridiculous low prices or the manner all the bitcoin are indexed.

I make sure to explicitly use Coin Control in the QT client, to have absolute control of what inputs go towards any transactions.
Learn to use Coin Control. It's your friend. I try to spend oldest inputs first, and try not to mix inputs - if possible - depending on the size of the transaction.
With all these tools at our disposal, I will soon be privacy paranoid to avoid the dots been connected about myself especially without my concert, but for people like us on the forum I honestly think making the connection isn't a difficult task at all if you really need to make the connection.
