When will a seriously innovative alt(s) completely decouple from this downward trend in btc pricing. I imagine the first one with the best chance of doing so is listed on the the major exchanges that offer central fiat to alts. Short list includes Ripple on Bitstamp & Kraken, Litecoin on Bitfinex & Kraken etc., some chance of the Vault of Satoshi and Kraken alt markets breaking out including Doge, which has done more trending uncoupled to Bitcoin than any other alt so far, is there anything else I'm missing with a offical collapse of the Chinese buying support? And how much chance do you give for this to happen at each price level lower for bitcoin 300s, 200s, 100s.. 2 digits?

Guys, you all are a part of the problem... You think that you're so smart, talking about bulls and bears, and a lot of rubbish.
You need to realize: Bitcoin is going to fall unless there will be more people interested in buying them. And trust me, a person who gets to bitcointalk.org to get some info, and decide whether to invest or no, and actually starts to read this thread as the most popular one, and dedicated to discussion about the price, etc. and starts to read a zoology treaty will consider all this a big joke.
Do you think if an investor would have some interest in the stock market, on a specific company, and when trying to get more information about his potential investment would start to read all this rubbish, will NEVER invest. Some computer geeks who think they are business men, or who never actually leave their rooms, are being "smart" here... in a business you need to be serious first of all, and bulls and bears have nothing to do with Bitcoins as an investment.
The other problem is that altcoins are falling down. They were the ticket for late investors to adopt Bitcoin. So, there is a very very strong relationship between those and BTC. I always told, the minute altcoins will die, BTC will too. Simply because nobody is going to pay hard cash at this prices for something where the "insiders" are talking about bears and bulls, instead of serious matters in a serious language.
The time for the emergence of Bitcoin and Alts is not here yet. The infrastructure developments and ease of user experience in a secure way don't exist yet to help the price to go to the levels that would sustain the massive demands of a complete economic loop in even the completely developed countries much less the type of countries that have the most to gain from this invention. I am not going to put anymore money into Bitcoin or Alts themselves, only investments into the infrastructure. Anybody here who looks at bitcoin itself as the investment can leave for all its worth, the investment is in the model not the coin. Build it they will come so to speak.

Any level of doubt I had at all in Bitcoin was completely demolished in my final economics mba class of the semester. Subject was macroeconomics, Dr. Funk asks us "what is money?" Then followed that question up with, " I'm going to use Bitcoin as an example alot tonight, believe it or not in the next 50 years it or something like it will replace the current system you use." He didn't let me talk the whole class, lol I was just dieing to say stuff and blurted a couple things out anyway! The student group I'm forming has a 25 year veteran of the Federal Reserve Bank of St Louis as our advisor. Arkansas is going to be on the map soon in bitcoin yall.

On a side I wonder how much the core devs are invested personally, out of pure curiosity.
Jeff Garzik publically stated he "only" has 348 BTC which is far less than some speculators here.
I have met another vip core dev in person and I understood he is in the thousands BTC but below 10k.
I really don't think this is a real issue at all. The concept of BTC is already tried and true to its valuation far beyond the current price and beyond. As far as crisis in purchasing power that the market creates due to fear or other weakness you know its all hyperbole.
My reasoning for stating this is after I hit 21 bitcoin I stopped caring how much more I had and started working and investing on the angle of adding value through educational outreach in my community and economic viability through spending and moving Bitcoin. Holders of far, far more coin than I may have at the moment will be weak handed as we see the true push of inflationary pressure of the price in USD, YEN, YUAN, etc.

Yes. My friend called this morning. I trust her too based on other things God has spoken to her. It was weird that it was today, the day before the silk road coins are being auctioned. She knew nothing about that. I had to walk her through the entire process because she did not even know where to buy coins. I did caution her she might be in for a bumpy ride. Bitcoin is not an ivestment for those that like a slow and steady ride.
This is getting unreal this spiritual premonition stuff. I am all for positive attitude and hoping for price increases - next someone is going to suggest that their astrologist recommended bitcoin...

Most of the bitcoin faboys don't care about technological developments in the field of finance. All they're interested in is wealth redistribution. To switch places with the current elite that is earning with interest, so they themselves could earn with deflation. I've been doing some analysis on the latest craze, Proof of Stake coins like NXT. On the surface they look like a good deal, with innovation and some great ideas. But they appear to suffer from one very fatal flaw. Proof of Work coins are backed by energy. Those providing the Proof (miners here) must choose one coin on which to spend their energy to provide it. Proof of Stake coins have no such protection.
You cannot double-spend your energy and use it to mine multiple Proof of Work coins (e.g. X Bitcoin and Y Litecoin mined with the same energy expenditure as mining just X Bitcoin or just Y Litecoin). New coins may pop up, but they must fight over the limited supply of miners/energy. This fight over a limited resource ensures you will not see an infinite number of Proof of Work coins pop up running in parallel. This backing by energy ensures we will not see inflation through endless chains of PoW coins.
Proof of Stake coins do not have this protection. Those providing the Proof of Stake, the holders of coins, can freely hold an unlimited number of different PoS currencies, rather than being forced to choose to mine only one with each unit of electricity. Each PoS coin causes no pressure on the others. Thus, an infinite number of PoS coins can flood the market. With no limited resource (miners/energy) being competed for by all the PoS coins, the value that investors look to store in such coins will be diluted more and more over time as new PoS coins are created. This makes PoS coins worthless as a store of value, regardless of the individual characteristics of any particular PoS coin.
In short, Satoshi was clearly thinking long-term with Bitcoin, or he got very, very lucky. Either way, we are all very much in his debt for getting it so right on the first go.
Interesting analysis, I have to mention merged mining if you have not already heard of this it is a function within POW coin systems. I have an idea of how you may solve the issue you are describing, but just know that it exist in POW coins as well.

In most cases, using them as a currency is bogus, and pitching them as a currency in order to get people to fund your p2p blockchain project is a scam. I am not saying all, just most. Exactly this, do you think for a minute that if Wall Street has a serious Bitcoin offering or institution by the time the Alibaba IPO is available they wont be on that train. I say that they will be a knife in the side of Visa, MasterCard, Paypal etc. whatever they use since I haven't ever really gotten anything from them, but know loads of professionals that do use it.
