Bitcoin has stayed surprisingly stable in the face of this weeks news about Dwolla and yesterdays DDOS attack. The price not going down will have instilled confidence (even if the only reason it didn't go down was because people were buying into BTC so they could get out of MtGox) Add to this the Webmoney announcement and it looks like the price is due another tussle with $120.

I can imagine that quite a few who bought in around $112 will have their fingers hovering over the trigger right about now. Lets hope most have steady hands.

Makes you wonder what it's gonna take to get the price moving up. If this, Webmoney, paypal founder's investment, and gyft among other good news didn't do much, what do we need?
Well the last prise rise which took us past $120 was on the back of the Dwolla/Mtgox news and a massive DDoS. Crazy times!

Volume is getting lower and lower at Gox.
We may soon have to troll on the "Wall Observer - Bitstamp wall movement tracker - Hardcore" thread?
After the painfully verification/trust process at Gox, it would be major PITA to go through the same process with another exchange - but anyhow we really need to get rid of MtGox's dangerous centralization.
I just hope that better infrastructure arrives ASAP, I'm still not loving Bitstamp too much, and liquidity is still too low (but it is improving).
It looks to me like the price gap between Gox & Bitstamp is closing. Gox is happily soaking up all the "returning asks". Once we are close to parity, the spring will be ready to uncoil...
For bulls only (
bears stop reading NOW)
((Stop reading you naughty bear..))

I don't see any reason to suggest we're going down. BitStamp coins are refusing to sell at the lower prices and are just holding. It's a clear standoff. It's going up when we breakthough.
OMG...did I just say....it's going up?

Who's this guy and what have you done with coinseeker!
(p.s. based on the inaccuracy of your recent predictions I'm taking this as a a bearish signal!)

Unfortunately, Bitcoin is not a currency. It's a commodity. If it can actually survive a while longer and achieve mass adoption, it could be considered a currency but just being able to buy a bag of weed, doesn't make something a currency. Bitcoin is far more like gold as a store of value, but not nearly as safe.
Agreed. Bitcoin needs to be the crypto-commodity the crypto-currency running alongside it would have its transactions confirmed much faster with built in deflation too. Like a faster version of Freicoin for example.

This looks like cheap coins to me. Hope I'm not catching falling knives.

Don't hurt yourself

IMHO WE is a dangerous moment to buy.
EDIT: now final selloff to 110 area and a small rebound ...
This is what is stopping me from buying back in the fact we are having this huge dump before a WE where liquidity is usually tight ... although gox accounts will be loaded with fiat so as always with bitcoin who knows there are no rules
annoyingly my liquidity is in GBP and it takes forever for these clowns to drop their asking price to reasonable levels with 300 coins/day volume i have to endure a waiting game..
On Gox aren't we all in the same pool? They just use an exchange rate to match things up? I'm sure thats what it says on their website.

An interesting thought struck me earlier - now that the majority of my personal wealth lies with bitcoin, what would be the best and most secure way of leaving them in a will?!? If I were to get run over by a truck tomorrow, my coins would probably be lost. None of my family or friends would have any idea what to do with paper wallets either

I hope I don't get beat up over this, but I asked the same question on the LTC forums (
https://forum.litecoin.net/index.php/topic,6662.msg51607.html#msg51607)
Essentially I was interested in finding a lawyer who understood crypto currencies, so they could help out...that way my family doesn't have to rely on poorly written instructions, or forgetting all the little steps, etc.
There are online services which provide certain usernames and passwords for your digital after-life. Perhaps a bitcoin version would be of use? I just reg'd the domain name BitcoinBeyond.com just in case I figure out how to make it work.

It's sade how miners have to stick with USD to get a positive ROI

hey its "virtual gold" even gold compares itself to something..now when paypal and ebay take BTC that will loosen up a lot ..may work its way the other way around comparing USD to the amount of BTC you coulda had at a certain point in time
just saying "mental games" ...that earth killing asteroid coming straight down on earth over the north pole (no telescopes to warn us) will probably make this all moot next week
karma is a bi*ch and I myself am gonna play "look out for trucks next week" goes around comes around (prob tues with btc crash sigh)
they do call this forum "speculation right......also everthing I think I know is wrong do the opposite odds are better for you
If bitcoin was to be accepted by ebay/paypal, I predict the mother of all spikes followed by the daddy of all crashes when people realise only 1% of the bitcoin community will actually spend their bitcoins as a currency for goods. Who here would just start giving their bitcoins away in return for stuff that you could buy with fiat? And what can I sell you?

Why not spend them when I can pay less when paying with bitcoin and buy the coins at the time of use?
Because the BTC you bought "at the time of use" may be worth $100 more the next day and could buy you a whole lot more?

Try it with numbers and maybe you will understand.
Say you have $1000 and 2 BTC and bitcoin is US$500ea and you want to buy something for 1BTC or $500. Seller's offer is that they will ship sameday express if you use BTC (because they have no risk).
I want to buy this thing and maximize my BTC. I can either spend 1 BTC and buy 2 and end up with 3 BTC and sameday shipping, or spend US$500 and buy 1 BTC and end up with 3 BTC and wait on shipping.
Either way I have 3 BTC but by spending the BTC I get shipping faster, seller has less risk and less fees.
When you spend them, everyone wins, so your worry is silly.
Make sense now?
It does make sense given the condition of an incentive by the supplier to use bitcoin. I'm not convinced sellers would see bitcoin as having "less risk" factoring in price volatility at the moment.

Now the poll changes so often, is there a way to collate who gets the most "correct" answers each month (for the poll questions that are quantifiable).
I'd even pay like 0.05 BTC per month to be in a prediction league where the winners get the spoils!
