I think the blockchain.info bitcoin days destroyed chart is looking interesting. There was a spike up when the SR coin auction was announced, plenty of old coins got cashed out to raise money for bidding in the auction I guess. But as of yesterday the 7 day average has moved all the way down to a low point where it was in mid-May prior to that big rally move starting.

I was checking out that new BitVC Hong Kong-based exchange from Huobi (email them for an invite). Looks like they will go up to 3:1.

I noticed the 7 day average bitcoin days destroyed chart at blockchain.info is once again down at a very low level. The past couple times it got down this low was back in May and June right before rallies.

It does look like there's been a Bitfinex dump right at this 30 min candle time each day for the past 4 days. edit: more like 7 days straight with a red 30 minute candle at this time each day.

oh man, bitcoin's price continues to bleed.. this is a long dry spell we've been in. i think the price is going to be more stabilized, so when we do have another bull-run, it won't go as high as it has done before.
What's the record for number of red daily candles in a row? I was looking back in time and had trouble finding a longer stretch.

Seems the bfx usd swaps aren't increasing despite this hidden wall absorbing a lot of coins. So whoever it is isn't borrowing the cash. They have the cash. Probably one of the lenders who got fed up with the lower swap demand rates currently.

It has to do with random variance spikes in the times to find blocks. You can see different time averages at this site, the graph posted looks like a shorter term average like the 8 hr average:
http://bitcoin.sipa.be/So sometimes the overall network just gets fairly lucky for a few hours and finds lots of blocks more quickly than usual, leading to a higher estimated hashrate than really exists. OR maybe yes some huge farm just got turned on. You can't say for sure until you let more time go by and see what the longer time averages turn out to be.

With all the deleted posts this thread is going to be even stranger for anyone going back and reading.
Truly the most pointless place in the internet -- makes reddit look sane and balanced.
Just wait for the page 20k war... anyone at that point trying to go back and find the 10k war will prob find it around page 8k by then.

price is not moving until after the auction
Actually prior to the previous auction the market rallied quite a bit into it and also after it.

Looks like Silbert's syndicate bid a total of around 2.5x as many BTC as last time where they only bid for 48k BTC:

My guess is the drop is China-driven:
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-12-08/pboc-tries-pop-equity-bubble-tightens-fx-slashes-collateralmargin-availabilitymany financial orgs there that maybe were dabbling in BTC might have just had to scramble to raise cash and so sold it off.

That would be like allowing miners to vote on the difficulty. There's a reason the difficulty is designed to automatically scale, outside the control of miners. To prevent them gaming it. Block size should also have some straightforward mechanism to auto-scale.
