If Zynga is testing Bitcoin payments for Farmville 2 and the like, seems reasonable Facebook will do the same sooner or later.
After all you play Zynga games on Facebook, but let's see if it's true, i hope yes

That news is ridiculously big if true.

Suggest coinabul deposits first as he's called the bet. Terms will have to be properly defined (48 hours from when)
If he still wants to bet vs me, i would take you as an escrow.
Richy-T? Are you officially going to be our escrow then?
Count me in if you are. Please send 1 BTC to Richy-T for me Coinbull, when he confirms.
What happened? I took a nap and now someone is taking my bet?
snooze you lose... lol
Windjc I think you can still come in if you like. Ask Coinbull.
He shook on it. I'm still in. What's the address to send to?
I am not sure how many bets is he willing to take, i hope he takes mine as well.
What's the bet?

1 BTC bet. huge sell offs happen and price goes below 750 on gox with the next 48 hours??
Ill take that bet.
Shake
New thread required.

I would take that bet too, but since there is a 0% chance he would pay, some sort of escrow is needed.
Also make a note that to win a bet the price should go
below 750, as you've said. So techically to win it needs to touch 749.999 at least once.
trust me if its at 750 is goin to go below 749.999 thats got to be the dumbest technicality I ve ever heard. .001 BTC really
So how do we go about putting the money up then? Have you funded the escrow?

Let's play some poker. Is he hiding something? Is it yes or a no? Im sure he knows.
I have a personal theory, I think it will not pass and they have pumped and dumped it to showcase how volatile the market can be (which is a good thing since bitcoin is still tiny, so it means there is an huge upwards potential) but those bureaucrats don't like volatility and will use it as an excuse to not pass it.
Of course, maybe it passes and we are sitting on 3000 by tomorrow... we'll see.
My biggest concern right now is BUcoin and the china Psyops Jihan Wu in order to become the dictator of bitcoin. Hopefully we can get rid of these cunts without killing the entire project in the process.
From this thread:

Sheesh, I go for a snooze expecting a decision to be made by now, and they still haven't said bupkis?

Eric Balchunas, a senior ETF analyst for Bloomberg Intelligence, who affirmed that he has heard chatter that the SEC will announce its decision between
5pm ET and 6pm ET.
Phil Bak, a former New York Stock Exchange managing director and current CEO of ETF issuer ACSI Funds, said he thinks the SEC will wait until US markets close to reveal its decision.
"Usually they come in during the morning, but in this case we can probably expect it after the close … I would expect it between
4:00 and 6:00 or so," he said in an email.
http://www.coindesk.com/winklevoss-bitcoin-etf-decision-may-come-us-stock-market-close/I really hope we don't just get a big ol slap to the face tonight
Thing is, a rejection will drop the price Imo but I just don't think its that important.

It's becoming rather hard to tell these days. It was impossible enough to get people to agree on the 2013 ATH because of Gox. I hope we soon make a 'clean' one that's unified across functional exchanges to save future bickering.

I said 4 Agust 2017. Are you taking note of all bets? Take into account that anyone can edit their messages afterwards. Also, it shouldn't be allowed anyone to say a day that has already been taken by another participant.
P.S. And you haven't specified what exchange price will be used to declare a winner. Maybe Bitstamp?
Historically, Bitstamp tends to be the most common reference in this thread... even though on a few occasions, it came close to losing its bellweather status...

I have been telling people about bitcoin since 2013. A few friends listened and hey have made a lot of money. Most people back then had little or no interest with the exception of a small percentage.
Yesterday one of my staff told me he had bought some XRP. He said he relt the 20 euro charge for buying his bitcoin was too high. Not sure where he was looking. He only bought around 200 euros of XRP so a 10% fee does seem a lot. I told him he needs to buy more. Lol
A bus driver that comes in my work also told me yesterday he bought £250 of Bitcoin a few weeks back. He said he is still about £15 down so he must have bought at the top. I told him not to stress and all will be good in he end.
Slowly slowly it is happening. People are interested when they know I use Bitcoin. They want to hear what you have to say.

When BCC splits off we all have the same amount of BCC and BTC. If I have my coins safe on paper wallets how do I go about sweeping the private key of my BCC to dump without making the cold wallets for my BTC no longer cold as I have entered the private key on an online computer?

If you trade then keeping an amount on exchange is normal. If you just hodl then there is no reason to have any coins anywhere except in cold storage.

Good morning after, Bitcoinland.
I see we're still going sideways... currently $2725USD (Bitcoinaverage). Not bad, considering the fact that we all just got gifted an equal number of altcoin (BCH) tokens.
While some people may have felt secure in exposing their private keys/seeds to the internet to sell their BCash in the original rush, I'm happy to keep both my bitcoins and BCH tokens safe in my cold wallets, for now.
I don't think the drama is done quite yet. Let's at least wait until segwit is fully activated.
I have bitcoin in paper wallets, if I want to set up new paper wallets is there a better way to move them than...
Paper wallet-----blockchain.info----paper wallet
Trezor or other hardware wallet?
_______
I also agree we need a new poll.
Exactly what I'm doing.
It looks like I'm not going to win the ATH priza today annoyingly, on the plus side though, BCH has made me a hell of a lot better off.

Most of you will lose your fortunes on the way to the top just like this. You have a mathematical certitude that bitcoin will go to hundreds of thousands of $ in price
...yet you fucks still get greedy like this.
What a resentful and judgmental fuck you are.
Of course, hodlers are going to get excited.
Of course, there is going to be a lot of variance regarding when to sell and how much.
Also, it seems that we are currently in an upward trend that is likely to take us a bit of a ways.
I still say next resistance in the $4800 to $6800 territory, and then $8500 to $13000 territory.. and then $16500 to $19k thereafter.
WE gotta get through resistance in each of these areas, and I could see going to the $8500 to $13000 territory in this run, but I have a hard time with any kind of reasonable plausibility of the $16.5k to $19k... range... but what do I know?
Where have those resistance numbers come from JJG?

About the smoking thing... Have you tried vaping? The vaping industry has evolved amazingly in last 5 years.
I haven't tried that. However, one of my goals is to eliminate this expense from my budget. Is vaping cheaper?
About the "heritage" you should be instructing her already on this stuff and what to do.
My partner is actually a
he. We are not transgendered, so male pronouns are much preferred. (Not offended though at you. Common mistake. You don't know me and naturally assuming a straight relationship will always be the default assumption.) The problem with sitting down with him is that he fails to try and understand bitcoin. He has made it clear that I am not to spend any of our fiat on more bitcoin. I have on rare occasion did something sly to get a little more. Now when I try to sit him down, he knows how much my BTC is worth, and the pressure to sell from him starts up.The main issue is actually the amount of time that I spend tending to my BTC and Alts on the internet. Reading, fiddling with code. He hated Candy Crush and BONIC just as much when it took my time away from him.
ABout the richness... Maybe it won't make you rich... but try make it at least a sum that could change anything in your life.
True, the yield on it has been vastly better than my 401K.
Btw, some people consider that money is for spending. I think the money is for BEING ABLE to spend it. YOu are only able to spend money that you haven't already spent. Money gives freedom, spent money doesn't. Unless you know you only have like a few months left.....
True, even if I only have a few month left, at least the BTC will be able to pay for the funeral expenses right now. One less burden for my partner, if he can figure out how to liquidate the BTC.
Yes, it is way cheaper on the long run... unless you become one of those guys that buy everything that comes out and vape the most expensive gourmet liquids. I buy my stuff from china (
www.fasttech.com), my liquids too at around $12 for 100ML, and only sometimes buy some of those gourmet overpriced liquids at local stores just for the heck of it.
Oh, and you can pay fasttech with BTC.
Maybe that is the best purchase you could do with BTC (besides a hardware wallet) and then either save all the money not spent in smoking or reinvest it on BTC.
For your first purchase I would maybe suggest you go to a local SPECIALISED store for their advice and all even if that means paying their overprice. From that point on you can go with fasttech and make the savings rain on you.
As for the heritage thing, well, it seems he is a non believer so maybe that's why he doesn't pay attention to your explanations. I have made provisions not just for LIQUIDATE, but instead for just spending from it using debit cards, etc.... I mean, how to use it for spending without having to liquidate.
Maybe you could come to an agreement in which he is fine with you buying your vaping stuff with BTC and reinvesting in BTC what you save in smoking? At the very least he will be happy you quit smoking and you will be happy with your newfound freedom for investing in BTC what previously was a spending in the most harmful possible way.
All great advice. 10 points to Gryffindor.

Just woke up to see that the Euro-land ATH was broken last night, and has now become 3870 €/BTC. And it looks like it's going to be broken again very soon!
I'm reading all the posts about how BCH is dead, etc. Well, it may be so, but I've decided to hold it for a while longer and see how things play out. My way of thinking is this:
If I sell my BCH for BTC:
- My BTC holdings increase by around 12% (with current prices) = Insignificant gain.
- If BTC plummets and BCH gets a major boost = Significant loss.
If I keep my BCH:
- My BTC holdings stay the same = No gain.
- If BTC plummets and BCH gets a major boost = Significant gain and insurance against the unexpected.
So, HoDLing my BCH allows me to sleep peacefully at night, knowing I'm safe whatever happens. As much as I dislike Jihan Wu, Roger Ver, and all the rest of them, I don't want to underestimate their power. Better safe than sorry.
This seems a little disingenuous.
Firstly the insignificant gain of 12% is actually pretty decent.
Also, if you keep your BCH and it falls to zero you have had a loss of potential money. True that you haven't actually lost money you've invested but still.......
Saying all this I still haven't sold any and am sitting on all of them. I like the idea that if for some reason Johan or Roger did manage to convince enough miners to flip the two coins in terms of value I am no better or worse off

All it takes is for a few countries to be liberal in their approach to cryptocurrency which we are seeing more than one instance of right now... then frankly there is no stopping the blockchains from thriving and eventually countries which do try to regulate it out of existence will eventually give up and pull a 180 due to the shortsightedness of their folly. IMO
There no doubt will be more to cryptocurrency than just Bitcoin, but BTC has a
significant first to market network advantage and therefore in a world where a handful of countries, say Holland, Germany, Estonia, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea, (Russia

) maybe even the UK and the USA do not ban BTC,cryptos (or any other public/private key encryption for public use) then it does have a good chance to continue doing what it has done, and continue growing the ecosystem. Then there is going to be a proper set of enclaves, where the ecosystem can continue to grow, more miners can set up - and everyone can operate in an environment of regulatory understanding...I mean its not even a fantasy, it is literally happening in front of our eyes. Good luck to any other country that has banned BTC, as their citizens will run rings around them, unless they intend on cutting off their entire countries internet access to the outside world that is, otherwise people will easily still be able to connect to the network, connect to a node -the network- blockchain(s) will be literally surrounding, on land, under the sea, in space,
good luck stopping that.
Therefore the blockchains will continue, and BTC for now has built a strong enough base, and is a good enough first to market protocol with 1st market network advantage (sound familiar?) It has a fair chance, and as it is still being developed and built upon and layered - I think it is doing just fine.
Anyway in countries where the public have a strong opinion about privacy - this is not just going to get swept under the carpet- sorry but it is not.
Other countries- say China for example that try to
outright ring fence their citizens from it will fail.
The Chinese people that want to will find a way.. besides I still think China is playing a longer unseen game here- crypto is not dead in china I expect some sort of CNYT coin to control fiat on and off ramps to attempt to stem capital outflows along with stricter exchanges and ICO laws - some of the exchanges have been naughty boys indeed! I still fully expect there to be a regulated market there in the future.
I do not thus far see any good reason for BTC to not continue to thrive and take advantage of its network advantage-nor do I imagine it will be the only cryptocurrency or blockchain being used for many various reasons..there will be others that do well too.
The market is screaming for exactly what BTC and other distributed decentralised incentive based blockchains can offer... look at all of these security breaches that occur in traditional centre out data security systems in use- they leak like sieves. I am sure many blockchains will thrive in this "Brave New World".
There is IMO yet another wave coming over the next year to eighteen months... from the network effect, from further investment into the ecosystem, as well as maturing projects involving BTC (and others) hitting market with products and services and infrastructure and marketing budgets. Countries that I listed above are encouraging innovation and in the other parts of the world Africa,India,South America, SE Asia etc are all starting to gain more traction...more users are coming...we all know the market and infrastructure is growing and starting to form.... so it is business as usual
And...as usual... expect price volatility.
Yes brother
