Can it be possible that there are still alot of new buyers coming in but we haven't seen a significant price rise because there are alot of people still dumping BTCs? And if they stop dumping because they see the price stabilizing that we will quickly come up near pre-crash numbers?

Bid sum has just easily reached the pre-crash value. But this time, the price is $85/BTC instead of $266
But rising quickly!

It never ceases to amaze me. Why would people sell big amounts of coin in the low 150's when the price was 168 hours ago?

According to the mtgox walls, 23 Million USD takes us to a BTC valuation over $1000. Not a lot of money in the whole scheme of things.
You should know that means nothing.
FACT: according to the order book, someone willing to cash out just 18 Million USD takes us to a BTC valuation in the low single digits. Not a lot of money in the whole scheme of things.
Imagine satoshi decides to cash out the 1M
BTC he has, because is time for him to retire. Yes, you know what would happen: BTC would suddenly go to 0. And that will happen, sooner or later, because nobody can wait to be rich forever. Just pray that the market depth will be 10,000 times bigger than now, so we just go to low double digits when he decides to sell, and not straight to 0.
If he is smart enough to invent bitcoins, he is smart enough to sell responsibly. I believe.
Well, I would be more confortable if he would have moved some coins, gradually. He never moved A SINGLE COIN according to the blockchain. Not even at the peak of 2011 bubble, not even at $200 BTC/USD.
Frankly, people sees this as "this guy really believes in
BTC potential!", but sometimes that just makes me doubt of his sanity. If he never moved a single coin in all his life, he is very well capable of dumping them suddenly. That's how I see it, and many times I think that he will destroy what he created in that way.
And remember that nobody can wait forever to be filthy rich.
Hope it's just a nightmare tough
What are his addresses for you to make such affirmations?
since the april 11 crash, there's a regular 3-5k sell order practically everyday,i would believe its satoshi..
Well, you know blockchain is public. There have been many studies about the coins mined early, for which a huge part never moved (more than 60%). The coins never moved where mined in 2009 and 2010, and from pattern analysis looks they are all Satoshi's. Just check one of the many analysis that support this theory:
https://bitslog.wordpress.com/2013/04/17/the-well-deserved-fortune-of-satoshi-nakamoto/Maybe he just lost the wallets? I think most of his coins are lost. Even if they aren't he's in a tough spot. Bitcoin price can crash just by people noticing that early mined coins are moving. He won't even have time to send them to MtGox.

Many funny moments on this sub-forum. Right now i'm interested in what arepo will say. A few days ago everyone that wasn't a bear was a fool according to him and we would never go below 120. Then as price started to dive every bull was wrong and we would touch 90's short term. Now as price is starting to rise again i wonder if he is going to change his mind again..

It looks like bitcoins were overbought in the last couple of months and we are in a correction. Probably to much less than 100. Even if i'm wrong and we'll enter a rally i don't see it coming before next week because of all the holidays this week.

This.
Once silkroad/ TOR figure out how to deal with this and next week when the silicon valley hype money comes in, people are going to be kicking themselves for selling now.
I think VC money is smarter than just buying and holding BTC. They'll probably invest in infrastructure and have a steady income of BTC.

As soon as we got to mid-96, a 1700BTC wall went up at 97.
I don't know who this guy is, but he's working really hard to bring down the price.
He did the same some minutes ago, exactly at 97. That time with 2k BTC (check a few pages back)
It does appear that he doesn't have many more coins to manipulate since he is already decreasing the amount he puts on sale.
This might be a good signal. I think even those who bought at 100 made a good deal. There is a tiny amount of coins for sale compared to the bid sum. This can ramp up pretty rapidly in the next week.
Are you sure he's not just selling responsibly letting people buy from him instead of diving through the bids?

lol, I love it. Need a shirt: "Dear Bear, if you must sell your Bitcoin, at least do it responsiby"
I meant that he's not panicking. He gets more USD by setting up walls that people eat through than by diving through bids lowering the price by 5 USD. But every time we have a correction people scream "MANIPULATORS!".

You know my number. I'll go to have some snails and chardonnay.
Btw, this is the last day when we see $95 EVER, you can quote me on that.

Exactly. I don't get it how keep act like it's a party when the price drops. It's bad.
You can buy a few coins 20 bucks cheaper. Really, that's worth potentially killing the coin?
Don't you think you'll make more if we actually let this coin grow to 300 dollars and then slowly sell them if you're so desperate for money.
There is nothing good about seeing it crash over and over again. Really nothing.
Unfortunately the majority of the people in Bitcoin don't care about Bitcoin. They just want to make quick money. Preferably by sitting on the ass, holding coins and wait for others to make developments so they can become more valuable.

Bitcoin isn't volatile because of speculators, it's volatile because there isn't enough financial instruments built to stabilize it AND because the market cap is still very, very, VERY small.
People buying bitcoins are also giving the capital required to build more infrastructure for it.
And personally, I accept bitcoins in my business since 2012. What are
you doing for Bitcoin?
Haha why so personal? I too do business with BTC, that's how i learned about it in the first place. And i also speculate but what i was saying is that it's not a good thing for Bitcoin to behave like this when the whole world is watching.

People complaining about the effects of speculation on, wait for it, the
speculation forum. Seriously.
Why are you being a smartass? I speculate too otherwise i wouldn't be here on this subforum. My speculation was that it's bad for Bitcoin to behave like this when the whole world is watching and it might scare investors away. For my other reply: I made an explanation to the guy quoting me. And for your knowledge, speculators help stabilize the price by buying at bottoms and selling at tops.

There is a facebook-like website
Trig.com where users can upload music, videos, books etc and sell them. I read somewhere that alot of artist are interested in this and it is growing constantly. If they only accepted Bitcoins. It would help market the site plus you could buy all of that with your dear BTCs! I wrote them an e-mail about it but they haven't answered. Maybe if more Bitcoin users would write them they would change their mind..

Huge drop in the bid sum
This corresponds nicely with the 27,000 coins that were market sold. It will take some time for the bid sum to build again, unless people who sold decide that the storm is over.
Personally, I have decided that
until we know why the DHS is involved, it is safer to be fiat. The risk being buying back in higher and losing a couple percent (which I hope happens). On the other hand, it is a curious situation, and if DHS has decided that bitcoins have been used to fund terrorism, we could see a steep decline in the value of bitcoin as they work their "magic". So, maybe lose a few percent, or maybe lose 50%+ . . .
I am probably the only person who is mostly fiat who wants to see the price go up
Come on guys, they invaded Libya and killed Ghadaffi for trying to f*** with their dollar. You thought they would let Bitcoin thrive? This is why Bitcoin is king. They can't do anything when something is decentralized other than scaring a few people away from using it.

This is a STATEMENT from the US Government to Bitcoin. My advice being a US citizen and knowing the reach of the USG...Sell NOW or forever hold your piece. This is going to get worse as the news reaches mainstream media. By then, it will be too late. I'm taking my profit and I'll watch from the sidelines. I'll buy back when the dust settles. Good luck to all.
Agreed, many still don't realize the implications of this seizure, it is a start of a slandering campaign to stop 'financing' of bitcoin. The fight started sooner than expected.
The earlier the better for them. It would be a lot worse for them if they showed their dictatorial face in front of half of America's population. Now only the small userbase of Bitcoin are affected by it.

What a piece of shit Mt Gox is. I really hope this guy goes to jail. In my life i have seen such an imcompetence. How many millions have been lost due to this guy inability to run this company.
He got the best Magic the Gathering cards, he just found one day that he was running a billion dollar company (or exchange to a billion dollar market). So instead of playing with mages and trolls cards he just started to play businessman being absolutely horrible at it and making thousands of savers lose their hard earned money.
Why don't you open an exchange?
Let's see if you can do better.
To date,
no one has done better.
Times have changed and it's clear things are getting to big for Mark. I don't understand how you can't see it? There are a lot of people who can do a better job. Now i'm not talking about teenagers running exchanges in their mum's basement but real professionals need to enter the Bitcoin world. The position that needs a professional the most right now is the CEO of MtGox. And it has been like that for some time now.
