Investing in BitPay is another way to buy coins, except that the entry cost is high, since there is a minimum investment level that's beyond many individuals' wealth.

BitPay offers their investors at a rate slightly higher than the market value, but it's much better than to buy coin directly on an exchange for multiple reasons. This type of transaction is off market trade.

So, I don't think wide spread of merchant accepting bitcoins will depress its value.

I hadn't thought of asking my friends to pay for the meal then pay them in bitcoins. I usually have enough cash from localbitcoins for that.

That's not really living on bitcoins though. It's not really different from what you're doing with localbitcoins and may piss friends off.

Well, I've finally talked my landlord into accepting bitcoins for rent after a year living there. It's not like I come out of nowhere with it. I show them how I can live on it, give them the benefits but don't try to sell them. I just lead by example. Most of my friends think Bitcoin is a good idea but just say they wish they'd gotten in early (like there is no point to it now that the price is higher). My landlord invests in gold and oil and stocks so he likes the idea of being able to invest with the rent I pay him. And he travels to the US a lot so he likes the idea of being able to use Gyft.

Congrats! This, the grassroot movement is essential for a slow and steady rise.

I smell that the '2020 Trust Account' is the intention to keep the price depressed for the next 4 years.

So I'm working on this, figured I'd give folks here a first peek since you're the ones that would appreciate having something like this.

The final product will have a better price display that I'm still working on, I just grabbed a zoom in of bitcoinity for this stage of development.

Price would probably be around $125 to $150 to make a profit.

Is this something you would buy?

I went to Walmart bought a cheap Android tablet for about $40. Then put on the weather app so I can check out the latest outside temperature and forecast. The challenge is to hide the charging cable. It's lot cheaper than buying a RaspberryPi and an extra LCD screen.

Did you get a wall mount for it?

Just used 3 3M transparent wall mount hooks hack similar like this:

That's cool, I did some research beforehand and several people came up with their own wall mount solutions for tablets such as yours. There are some universal wall mounts that look pretty hideous and decent ones that cost over $150 just for the mount, but it is hidden.

The tablet I use is made to be mounted on the wall and the power chord is behind it so you can either run power behind (in the wall) it or just paint the line like I did.

I check out bensbargains.net very often, you can easily get an OK tablet for about $20-$40 range. I'm sure there is an equivalent deals site in Germany. Since they come in different sizes, a recessed mount is not suitable for the situation that you are going to replace it once a year. $150 would be crazy relative to the price of the tablet. I had to live with the wire exposed in some way. Maybe your solution is more tailored to people with OCD hahaha.

He immediately kicked me out of his restaurant and told me to never return.

I doubt about your story, hahaha...

If it's true, you can try visit Austria and talk to people there? At least they know how to eat properly than Germans.

Needle is showing up on the chart. Any news from Deutsche Bank?

Noticed Bitstamp is not on Bitcoinity under top USD exchanges. Did their volume drop or something? Less than GDAX(?)?

Elwar, if you are still in Germany, could you please tell us bit more about your observations regarding Deutsche Bank? If local Germans started to worry about their savings with DB? Bank run starting? Or they are still calm, expecting a bail-in to happen again?

No idea really. I don't watch the German news because I don't speak German. I avoid the US news because it's depressing.

I do know that my landlord started pulling some money out of the bank and holds more cash than he used to. And he's very open to taking bitcoins for rent. He's actually the perfect Bitcoin user. I pay him bitcoins in rent and he's a pilot for Lufthansa so he flies to other countries a lot. He goes to the US and uses Gyft to buy gift cards for just about everywhere he goes. Mainly Home Depot, Target, Whole Foods and some restaurants. He loves it. He used to use his PayPal credit card that charged him a huge exchange fee whenever he used it in the US.

Deutsche Bank canceled my account with them so they can crash and burn for all I care.

Thank you Elwar for these observations. Perhaps we can monitor the output of the safe box makers as the potential Weimar II happening.

What's up with ethereum? Huh
It's still rising

People are stupid.

Yea, I think ethereum will be dumped pretty hard once bitcoin gets proper news time and really gets going

That's people thinking eth will go up to where bitcoin is right now. I mean give them a chance Cheesy

I see most ETH people are those believe in authoritative figures that missed Bitcoin train. ETH is perfect for them. Human stupidity is infinite after all.
