I think we're at or approaching 1 tx a second.. so we need 7x as many were getting now before we start to worry about that.

Imagine the utopian mass adoption that's being fed to the public.

Take a small country (or a large American city) with about 15 million inhabitants, or 5 million households.
Every household will have to do groceries about each other day, so that's 2.5 million customers in supermarkets each day countrywide.
Day has 24 hours, so that's 104166 transactions per hour
= 29 transactions per second

And this is for one small country only, for only the basic needs (food), and that's already 4 times what the Bitcoin network can physically handle.

You're not going to convince me that the Bitcoin protocol will ever be able to sustain a world economy for day-to-day transactions.

Hence why I'll always be bearish, even though it's a great market to profit from atm.

Nonsense. Only a retard would think that a block-chain based currency is efficient for day-by-day purchases as grocery shopping.

As warchwoord said 1MB max block hard limit was placed BY DESIGN. The point of BTC is the universal ledger and the possibility for everyone to run a full node. It's meant to be a safe and decentralized way to store and transfer value (among other things), not to be a micro payment network competing with Visa or PayPal.

99% of BTC economy is driven by investors and speculators, what makes you think that it has to change at some point? You don't buy groceries with gold neither.

I still  think that something like mirrored system based on effectively dead bitcoin address is  possible. Lost  coins could gain value in this mirrored universe but  with  different  properties. thus may  be  useful for dust operations

I feel like if bitcoin can't make a strong move to the upside, it will slowly meander down over a few weeks.  There's not as much buying pressure and a substantial amount more selling pressure than one week ago which is why the price has equalized for the short term.  If this increasing selling trend continues we could see substantially lower prices.

I agree totally.
My guts tell my that second scenario will be most likely.

Well, I am slightly disgruntled that being all fiat, I didn't place a 550 bid before I went to bed this night (I wanted to, but thought that the volatility was too high). And there you have it, could have added 40 BTC to my portfolio.  Cry

Oh, well, better luck next time. It's better not to dwell on "what ifs" in Bitcoin, or you'll go insane. Smiley Just think about those $2 per BTC...

I have made around 130k from my 1k March investment so far and I still have some 150-200 BTC in crypto investments.

Bitcoins are dream coming true.

a bosnian telling you how much money he made... classic story hahahah, this is what I love about balkan, people will allways surpise you, no matter how long you live here you cant really understand how they think  Cheesy

Normally be would buy a bmw 3xx and use his shitty german accent to annoy hot girls or hang out in front of grocery stores with his mates in his sports pants like real gaaaaangstars Grin

Wait. They do that without bitcoins or money every day.

BTW:
Not bad 130k profit in fiat with 1k investment. The price rise was 120 times @peak.
And you still have 150-200 BTC.
150-200 BTC are more than 1k Euro/USD in march 2012 could buy @ price of 8-12$
Hmmm magically you even outperformed buy and hold buy factor 2-5. Respect.

I told you, you wont convince me that you are a 16 gen Swiss no matter what, you know too much, as I know there is not much of Bosnian compared to Slovenia....

Send me 10 BTC and I'll show you my passport  Tongue

You can even pay the flight with a part of this 10 BTC bet  Wink

But I don't belive you would even honor such a bet. Your kind tries to evade any responsibility. The only thing they can is causing riot, robbing and stealing.

I doubt we will experience another rally at least at  this point, there is still uncertainty in the market.
On the other hand this rise could be  easily justified since a price was  so much on "the left" from a month average, and this average price was achieved on quite decent volume.
I my opinion we will stay below $1000 at least for a month, although I hope for something more

I've been reading here a bit and try to follow rpietila since I think he is one of few here that really has the experience and the balls to follow his knowledge. Fwiw I think he's putting to much weight in the logarithmic trend line. I'm not sure if he is basing his bear call on other technicals but if he isn't I think it's a mistake. As of right now I'd say technicals are looking much better then they were before the dip bellow $500. I don't know why I'm posting this. Guess I want to give rpietila some support for his skills but at the same time spank him a bit if he's making this bear call only on the basis of the log trend line.

Discuss.

I have questioned his predictions and found that he has been right most of the time.  I too wonder if there will come a point when the growth will stray from the trend line and never bounce down to the level he expects?  He is in a great position though.  He can just keep the fiat and move on if those lower prices are never reached again.  Some of us, with way less BTC holdings do not necessarily want to risk our BTC holdings for that kind of game though.  To be left with more fiat then BTC when we are trying to get more BTC could be a problem for some of us I believe.  When it gets to the point that we are thinking about cashing out of BTC anyways, that is when it will be wise to play the market a little more.  Just my thoughts.
+1

32. Post 4267806 (copy this link) (by Salivan) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_11.49h):

Volume in USD is important but number of coins traded also matters as long as supply is increased by mining.
Low volume creates condition for miners to bring price down, how strong is this  pressure is completely different story, without this I see bitcoin price only rising.
For example if bitcoin survive to the next halving almost for sure there will be another rally, before next supply/demand equilibrium point will be found.

Anyway for the time being I predict that this slow price recovery will continue low volume or not, albeit we are in a post crash time sentiment is rather positive.

I am about to buy 7 bitcoin. It just seems like a lull before another price hike. Is anyone else waiting for a price drop?

this is the greed/fear paralysis. over and over, my friends and family express an interest to get into bitcoin, but want to wait until a price dip. then, when there is a dip, they fear a crash and don't want in. Then it hits a new ATH and they want in again...on the next dip.

funny but it seems to work this way. People  want to be on safe side and have a huge gain at the same time. When I argue that it is  rather rare  to accommodate both features in the same investment, they look at me like I'am insane person.

No, as the chart bases on MtGox, this "exponential correction" just accounts for fiat withdrawal troubles... Grin

Has anyone managed to get fiat out of gox. I have about 2.5k in there

had $2000 left there myself. waited over two months before I gave up, cut my losses and converted back to BTC at their outrageously inflated prices, but at least i got something. FtGox is dying running out of coins to trade. that's hwy the price is so high there. I lost close to 20%.  Mark pissed away a billion dollar opportunity with that company.

I also gave up after waiting over 2 months.
They put the money back into my account at my request and I also converted back to bitcoin (at a loss),  just to get the hell out of there.

I had a dream last night... I was watching the Bitcoin price chart at $640 and then all of a sudden the price just started skyrocketing, it went to $1,200 and then $5,000 in minutes... Then I woke up and thought, "well that was a wishful dream."

Strange times indeed...

I had  the same dream in December, didn't happened
