It's gonna crash hard;

wishful thinking

I don't really see it as wishful thinking as the only thing that has been as spectacular as the price rises has been the following crashes, right now that is bitcoin's world.  I also seem to remember back in April people were saying the Chinese were snapping up bitcoin relentlessly and we know how that turned out.

I distinctly remember having the feeling that people now definitely went ape-shit crazy for about a week before the crash. I just don't have this feeling nowadays (yet).

Might be wishful thinking (wishful "feeling") on my part also, though.

I agree. I joined this site right before the mania started kicking into high gear. How this site is now reminds me a little of how it was when I first joined (back in February). Once we start getting a surge of new members, I'll get worried about (another) bubble.

Approaching to all time high. Half year ago I shorted at this price =) But now its the only beginning.

If it is correct to compare price with space ships, I'd compare it with Apollo 13.

Apollo 13 never landed on the moon. Sad

At the moment, yes. That's why I only put a very small % of my BTC into LTC. No reason not to have a an alt-coin hedge.

See this attitude tells us..... this isnt a crash. PPL actually enjoying seeing pigs getting slaughtered.

LoL seriously this is Bitcoin. Where else can you just go out for 6 hours and come back to crazy shit like this? I mean I was concerned with paying with btc at a subway store where the guys knew nothing about bitcoin, explaining a bunch of people about btc (I'm getting SPAMMED today by my acquaintances wanting to know about btc), talking about crypto & litecoin in general with some guys and I come back and I see this....hahaha I mean whatever happened today is just too funny to be true, I LOVE BITCOIN, so much fun just watching it. btw I'm too fucking drunk to read the gazillion new pages of the wall observer, can someone give me tl;dr cliffs of what went on?

Someone messaged me on Facebook today wanting to know about bitcoin. I always post about it, but that's the first unsolicited inquiry from an acquaintance I had regarding bitcoin.

My intention is to warn you guys to practice proper risk management because inevitably, even with a small investment, your Bitcoin allocation will be the main source of your wealth. Marginal utility of wealth dictates that it's more important to secure your first million than to make another.

I've seen it go down from 32 to 2 and it was a really bullish environment too until about 14. It was a long drawn out process with countless bull traps over the course of 6 months. Don't fool yourself thinking it can't happen again today. That's just the nature of humans.

Yeah these boom/bust cycles are less painful if you only buy a certain amount every week, bi-weekly, or monthly. Dollar cost averaging with bitcoin, especially over a long period of time, is the only way to go IMO.

So what do you think guys when we hit $1000, will it be like when we hit $900 the first time, with a 30% correction, or will it be like when we hit $900 this second time, with a huge pump towards around $1030?

The rise to $900 the first time was completely parabolic. This is so much more sustainable.

The price was $958 yesterday at one point. Since then we have gone up $266  Grin

Previous ATHs are now just daily rises... Grin

At $10,000, $266 will just be a 2.6% increase in price. Welcome to the new normal, gentleman.  Grin

How big can the precious numbers market possibly be?

Honest question: Is $10,000 possible in 2014?

$100,000 is possible in 2014.

so much FUD by gold/silver investors who didn't put anything into bitcoin.. I have more money in silver than btc but it could remain suppressed by manipulators for decades yet.

Funny how the same ones who call bitcoin a Ponzi are also pumping silver. If bitcoin is a Ponzi then so is silver.

Satoshi getting captured doesn't matter. We can just make Ben Bernanke the new head of the BTC Central Bank.

So who's the perfect person to run Bitcoin? It'd have to be someone with central banking experience. Someone who understands why deflation is a problem. And someone who thinks virtual currencies hold promise. Someone like ... Ben Bernanke.
