Nice to see a little bump in the price- been waiting for this for a month now. Let's see how far it goes, and if it'll hold... I'm pretty optimistic, if it holds where it is and doesn't go any lower, we've got some good times ahead. 700 wouldn't be too out of the picture, although I think something around 650 is more realistic. I could be wrong though Smiley

There was some downward pressure at $666 already before the Bitfinex thing. The drop to $570 was a bit of an extreme reaction so we are certainly correcting.

I think the small amount of downward pressure is likely being eaten up by the 2 months of halved rewards so high $600s is likely this month. Followed by months of rising that is faster than before the halving. Barring any huge news that jumps or drops the price.

Yes, I quite agree with what you said and it a good news cos the pressure caused on bitcoin through the bitfinex hacker is no more holding down the price of bitcoin cos bitcoin has already spring up to $625. A clap ! Smiley

It's gone from $350 to $335. That's not a slow fall of price, that's noise. A slow fall of price is $100 down. JimboToronto doesn't think the price is slowly falling because he commented on the price being almost the same as yesterday. If it goes back up by $15 will you say it's slowly steadily pumping?
You're correct cos the price literally reduces everyday and what I know is that the price will pump up this weekend.

Seems we had a little correction/profit-taking last night but we're halfway back...$768USD/$1021CAD at Bitcoinaverage.

That's not too bad considering we'd just strung together 5 consecutive green daily candles. Hopefully that was the extent of it and we can proceed upward.

"Checking out current the price of bitcoin, bitcoin is down some how"

Are you trolling, Hulla?  Or have you been sleeping under a rock?   Explain exactly how bitcoin prices could be down when it is currently largely floating in the $750s?

It would be pretty easy to point out our current BTC price situation that would assist many folks to conclude that bitcoin is NOT currently "down", but maybe it would be better to let you go first?  go ahead.  I am waiting.  how do you come to any kind of meaningful conclusion that BTC is currently "down"?

Ok mate, I knew the current price of bitcoin is far better than second quater of this year and if I said tthe price is down I meant the price of bitcoin as at Friday/Saturday was 765$. Roger that?

O.k... That clarification of what you meant by "down" is fair enough.

Likely, I am reacting with a bit more assertiveness than necessary because it seems a bit problematic to look at such short term price changes without putting those assessments into context.

Sure, it is possible that we could experience some never returning explosive uptrend in prices, but it seems to be quite more likely that we are going to experience several consolidation periods and even small retractions ... yet overall, we seem to be continuing to experience a considerable amount of ongoing upwards price pressures.. and our corrections since lower $600s have been largely insubstantial with continued upwards price pressures.

I surely don't have any kind of crystal ball, but it seems to be within reasonable possibilities that we could get another explosive upward leg into the mid - $800s... but also, we could experience a significant downward correction too... just to weed out some of the weak hands....  Currently, I would place the odds of another upwards 5% leg as slightly better than 50% as compared with a 10% downward leg.

,

Ok and that's still fair enough cos every successful business must accept debt. Though, the debt must not be much. However, savetherainforest said is time for new predictions. Does that mean we should be accepting something more bigger before the end of this year?

I wish I could see into the future. I'd break my anti-gambling rule and already be rich.  Cheesy

I guess the ATH depends on where you are. Americans need current prices to rise 66% to reach an ATH, while Canadians only need to rise less than 25%.

If I have to take a stab at it, I'd say some time in 2017 for us Canadians and sometime in 2017-8 for Americans. I'm not all that familiar with other currencies but I think the yuan might be quicker than the USD. As for the rupee, aren't they getting close? I don't even want to mention the Chilean peso.  Grin

Brother, most probably next year we will see $2K-$4K

Why ?

1. COIN ETF
2. BitCache and Megaupload 2
3. Saxo Bank predication (They predicated the Brexit back in 2014)

This is only few to list.
Concerning the Saxo Bank prediction. Should will be expecting bitcoin to hit 2100$ in the year 2017 cos currently bitcoin  prices neared 780$ this week and it coming within 1% of their annual high after rising above the 700$ price.

Yes, bitcoin does had a great future and some of the major thing that somehow affect the future of bitcoin are the hacking thing and some scam exchangers.
Meanwhile, I just want to be reassure if the price of bitcoin will really hit 2100$ next year.

So, we're right at the door of a rally. Bitcoin is stable, people are regaining confidence in purchasing the thing as an investment and I'm as ready as I can get with my minuscule trading budget. So, to commemorate this day, I made a chart. I haven't had any formal teaching of forex/exchange/commodity market markets and finance, but I think it paints a good picture. An accurate picture. I have seen people trying to draw trend lines from the bottom up. I thought to myself "what if I draw from the top down? This is basically what I came up with. I hope it's at least somewhat entertaining/informative.

I'm using bitfinex, because that's what I'm using nowadays. I wanted the "wishful thinking" part to have the two peaks closer, time-wise... but I had already written "Enter the bull" and was too lazy to move it. Good luck, everyone. It's been a wild (almost) two years, I look forward to spending another two years here.

Yes, people are gaining their confidence back and my pray is that the hacking situation stop for real. If I get right. You're currently using bitfinex, isn't it? How is everything there now and how much is bitcoin on there?

The prediction says the price will rise above $1000 next year. So, I think you're a lil late for that. Though the current price is $888 and that because of the Christmas holiday.

See, it was $900 yesterday, today it is $867, I still think that it is going to calm down for a day, before even the new year, will go down to somewhat like $800-$825 before January. That'll be the best time to get some more of it.
Yes,it will calm down due to the holiday but it won't settle down at the price of $800-$825 and if you said $850 I will say you're correct. But at the price of $800-$825? Nah

prices remain bullish as discussed in our bullbear analytics forecast
Hmm. That's cute and the prediction was absolutely right cos bitcoin does have a sharp increase in price and the current price now is $901 Smiley Who was the so call bullbear?

Ok and it nice to know cos I have been looking who's good in such a thing. Nevertheless, next year will be a wonderful for us cos the price of bitcoin is really pump up this days and I'm so happy Smiley

Anyway, I used to think reaching $950 is impossible before the year ends and I was wrong. Bitcoin is really unpredictable. We might even get $1k before the new year... and I'm kinda glad that I bought some during the dip. Good luck everyone!
Me either and my believe is that the price will be at around $850 before the year end. But after I saw the price hike up to $956 I was wow and feel happy to be part of this wonderful experience.

Back in 2013 I spent $50 on a 1 bitcoin bet saying the price would be $10,000 by the end of this month.

Unfortunately for those that bet against me the site went down a few years ago.

No fear Elwar, you may have been wrong with your prediction, date wise but I have no doubt we'll break $10,000 within 3-4 years.
I don't agree with you mate and I don't think tell price will reach $10,000 in 3-4 years. Though, I quite sure will have an increase in price of bitcoin but not up to $10,000.

As I predicted, psychological resistance at 1000 $ worked. Daytraders were sunny because it was quite wavy, but I do not think it will take too long. In a few days,it will sit in a narrower space and consolidate his place.

Yes. It looks like $1000 is a good resistance for bitcoin and I don't think it will be taken out today. But by January 2017, we should
see bitcoin crossing $1000 mark in style. Until then, enjoy the new year celebration!

China shuts down for New Year. All its banks are closed and no money can get sent to exchanges from them. Bitcoin trading will be lame until those banks open again.

China celebrates western New Year?

I know they shut things down for like a week during Chinese New Year.

Yes, China celebrates western New Year, then celebrates its own New Year a month or so later.

The Hong Hong stock exchange closes for those same holidays. These are the dates for 2017.

OK - looks like someone somewhere is having a final push for the line and wants BTC to end the year on a high note.
I'm in the UK - 6 hours to midnight. How far can the price go in 6 hours ?

What will be the price this time tommorrow ?

My guess - in the range $975 - $985 on Stamp

Happy New Year to all bitcoin evangelists everywhere - we are the early adopters still.

It's 02:11 on Sunday, 1 January 2017 in China. That's too late for them to see $1000 Bitcoins in 2016. There's still a slim chance other countries might see $1000 Bitcoins in 2016, but a greater chance of sideways prices.

Ahhh but Hu boy did see $1000 BTC in 2016...they reached 6990 CNY.

I was unaware of the Chinese prices. I just checked BTCC and that reached 6966 ($1003), and OKcoin beat Hu boy by reaching 7007, so the top three China exchanges all reached $1000+ in 2016.
This is wonderful result and it good for the Chinese the price of bitcoin reach $1000+ before the end of the year. Despite the fact that they sort of close down for the year holiday.

Thanks. Looking for convenience and low fees really. Used to use Stamp but the bank fees and appalling FX rate was killing me. I've bought from bitbargain, three years ago as I was learning about BTC, but selling would be a hassle. Will look into Kraken but anywhere abroad will probably use SEPA, which incurs vast penalties. I've got a friend who uses LocalBitcoins, but I don't like the idea of waiting around and doing it all manually.
Basically the banking sector here sucks with regard to bitcoin.

Try Bittylicious? I've no idea what it's like as a seller but they're superb to buy from. I'm not sure whether it's in any way automated but try asking them. You get a juicy premium too.

Bittylicious is excellent for buying. Same deal with selling as bitbargain, though - approval process and of course you have to wait around and make manual transfers.
Will probably stick with Coinfloor for now. They're not terrible, I was just spoiled by the convenience of Circle, sending coins and having them turn up as GBP, with no further action necessary on my part, practically zero slippage and no withdrawal fees. It was too good to be true. Banksters. The day of reckoning is nigh.
You could try coinbase either and that's what I have been using cos their exchange is fine by me and I have no regret using it so far.

move btc to china -> sell -> get fiat -> and then?

its hard to get fiat out of china, thats why arbitrage doesnt work well. most likely you need connection to get fiat out.

Ah, makes sense. I always overlook fiat problems ha. Still a wild price difference
right eh, and i have a feeling that china's capital controls are only getting tighter and tighter
bitcoin is a way for them to get capital out, but this means their BTC markets are bleeding supply while demand is rising.
no wonder there's such a price dif.
That's correct. But is still fair that price don't go down below $900 and the price gain some slightly increase which mean it may get back up anytime soon.

There is no doubt in my mind that the peoples of this world desperately need cryptocurrency. They NEED bitcoin.

Governments all over the world are trying to eliminate cash, they are confiscating gold, stealing wealth from the people. They want all your money in a bank account so it can be tracked or taken from you at any time.

The Central Bankers, in their endless greed profit from this system in many ways, endlessly concentrating the vast majority of the world's wealth in the hands of only a few dozen people. This is creating untold suffering and a system of economic slavery that is destroying the planet itself.

The fucking world needs this fucking technology to succeed, god damn it.

We better get our fucking shit together and make this shit fucking work. The scaling issue MUST be solved, one way or another. Core needs to get on board or they need to get kicked the FUCK out.

This isn't just about personal profit, although we will all certainly be billionaires if we succeed. A convenient side effect.

But what it's really about is breaking the yoke of oppression that has been forced on this world by those who have betrayed humanity itself for their own personal wealth.

That's all I have to say.

this.

not too sure why there is much doom and gloom.

Sure BU is a "threat" but bitcoin has faced many threats before and in the longer run it has weathered them all fairly well.

Why is Bitcoin unlimited a threat, its just competition and bitcoin has plenty of alternatives already in operation that would be happy to take over.  The threat would be from the number of miners who would switch and prefer to support that alternate system.   I guess that part is new as most coins start from nowhere.

Will we definitely end up with 2 tokens in equal amounts on 2 addresses, price wise that just seems to suggest the price halves and value overall is the same.   Some confusion as people switch or decide which coin to hold or use but not as bad as it might appear?

I would rather they make transactions compete in fees they pay for priority.   This will then give the smallest transactions business to alt coins where it probably belongs ?    The best solution is the most natural self adjusting.   Does my opinion mean I should sell BU if I get any?
Yes, bitcoin have face a lot but come on top in the end. In my opinion BU (bitcoin unlimited) is not a threat and this will bring something call competition into the system since there is high rate of transaction fees going on in the bitcoin which could kill people thirst for bitcoin.

They will also accept Litecoin

Nah. I dont think the news about the Gox exchange paying their old customers was the only reason why the price of bitcoin sky rocket. A lot of more goods things happened lately which boost the price of bitcoin things like the Japanese strongest bank establish an international blockchain payments network of global banks and the Arizona governor signing Blockchain bill into law.

Since we didnt see any retrace over the weekend, I wouldnt be suprised at all, if bull trap awaited us during tommorrow or day after that. It wouldnt be the first time we decide to take a plunge on monday...

Looks like indeed we have a correction going.

Looks like indeed you are reading this whole situation out of context.

When Okurkabinladin wrote his post, the price was floating around $1080 $1180 (Correction).  Accordingly, the price went up to nearly $1130 and then retraced back down to $1115.

That is hardly a "correction"

When ever you get a decent size upward price movement, you also will find pauses in the upwards movement and you will also find retraces of some or all of the movement;  however those retracements do not rise to the level of a "correction" because they are mere retracements of a recent upwards price movement that does not even rule out the possibility that the price is going to continue its upwards trajectory.

In other words for the moment we are experiencing upwards movement and a pause and nothing near a "correction."... not yet, anyhow...

A proper "correction" would be price plunges that at least retrace the whole gamut of the price recent price increase plus adding an additional percentage on the origination price point..
Yes, a real correction was been made and the price was at $1137 acouple of mins and now $1140. Let us hope the correction will be maintain and if the correction was maintain the price will climb further from there. Pus if buyers continue to hop on the rise.

The Ltc mount up in price could be a fluke as you said but I don't believe the price of bitcoin will go down to the bottom around $750-$850 and if you check the price as at now keep it mounting up because the price per bitcoin has put more optimism into the minds of traders which ginger the increase in price.

Bitfinex would still be solvent, unlike Gox, but with no way of getting USD out of there then the only way out is BTC. Gox was usually 5-10% above everywhere else because of that for a long time.

I'm not sure whether their channels are the same for deposits though. If all USD supply dried up it would become pretty irrelevant.

On OKCoin it's 16800 CNY. The Chinese are throwing money at Bitcoin on OKCoin now they are allowed to withdraw Bitcoins again.
It nice that they now allow the withdrawal of bitcoin via OKcoin but how about the KYC issue. Nevertheless, The Chinese might throw money into bitcoin but the trade made on Bitstamp is pretty cool than that of Okcoin at the moment.

Torque, what would be the purpose of that?
Bitcoin poses the biggest threat to the State, it is the largest and most decentralized cryptocurrency. The State can't control it or shut it down, and they were too late to try and co-op it by cornering the market (like they did with ETH, other pre-mined cryptos, etc.). They also know they can't buy off or manipulate the core development team. So the only game they have left is to sway people away from Bitcoin through social engineering and push them towards other alts, pre-mined and centralized crap that they CAN ultimately control or at least easily fk with.

What kind of coins DO they promote?

These guys were real slick...they started off promoting Bitcoin and only Bitcoin to their followers. Now their attitudes have begun to morph and show their true colors. Trojan horse operatives. They are now promoting BCH primarily, saying that it's the more legit version of Bitcoin. Also things like LTC, ETH, Dash, and a BUNCH of ICO tokens that we all know are complete rubbish. The whole goal is to push people away from Bitcoin now, and into other trash, or at least get people to diversify into a bunch of garbage cryptos. As if all cryptocurrencies are "created equal". It's all about stunting or slowing down the growth of Bitcoin long term.

I mean look at it, other than Bitcoin what other crypto has been under constant and relentless attack? Exactly none. Because none of the others pose any real threat to the State.
Ohh. Thanks for the update Torque. I don't know why people act like this. Have been wondering why bitcoin price increases a bit and go down a bit lately and this explain the reason behind it. However, we bitcoiners can still make things happen just like we use to do whenever any issue hinder the bullish of bitcoin.

Liberation day. All my bits are out of Polo.
So who's still in BCH. Be honest Wink

Still got all my BitCHcoins.  Grin

Not sure how it will play out but I like it as a hedge

I was going to do the same thing steelboy but I went for it last week and after a lot of fucking about managed to trade all the WuVEr coin for btc. I am aware the gap may close with btc fud and a WuVer coin pump but that's not guaranteed and I managed to boost my btc by 14%-15% so I was very happy with that.

It's such a basket case of a coin. But it's set to halve 3 years before us. Selling could be a big mistake. But meh.
Just because it halving was 3 years before us doesn't mean selling of the BCH would. Be a big mistake. In the future.
