Wow, Either Bitcoiners have really learned not to panic or the news hasn't spread.
The Selfish Mining attack:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=325824.msg3494144#msg3494144
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=324413.msg3475905#msg3475905
http://arxiv.org/abs/1311.0243
Something like this, though clearly mentioned "theoretical attack", would have triggered a panic sell @ $260.
One of the publications seems half-cooked almost set to exploit the panic, nothing yet.

This is old news.

It'll be interesting to see what happens when one of these altcoins collapses utterly and what kind of domino effect it will have and how far up the chain it will go.

Even funnier if BTC collapses and altcoins take over.

People buying stuff on overstock will increase selling pressure, because the coins are immediately sold for fiat via coinbase.

No. Dogecoin exists for the sole reason of dumping for Bitcoin at an unknown future point in time. This is the only reason for it's existence.

Have you even one argumetn against ripple ?

Excellent post from DieJohnny.

Quote from: DieJohnny on January 20, 2014, 05:46:58 PM
Ripple has done nothing but plummet the last few months. There is zero reason this coin is worth 2 billion and i am glad it was put back on Crypto market cap because it will accelerate the mass exodus from a coin that is going nowhere.

The number 1 reason this type of coin and NXT and QRK and any other coin will ultimately fail is because you cannot buy adoption, a community, an economy. You cannot purchase or acquire in any way the ecosystem that will make the coin actually worth more than zero.

Mined coins are ingenious because the ecosystem is organic, the ecosystem is first created by the miner and then others eventually join in to make a community.

Very similar to the gold mining era in the USA, huge communities would blossom overnight to support mining towns. The connected infrastructure created San Francisco.

However, you cannot buy a few hundred people put them in a town and wave your hands dramatically and say come here, come here, buy my gold!!

Everyone will laugh at you.

May as well just sell pre-mined 'shares'. It speeds up the process.

But that doesn't build a community does it. Thus a critical component is missing.

You've completely and utterly missed the point.

as long as you're not getting emotional about it, I'm sure you'll be fine.

just stick to the plan.

This has nothing todo with emotions anymore. I've made some nice bucks over the last 12 days. No problem...

But this market just makes me go fucking nuts. Look at it yourself, honestly. This shit is not normal, Imma stop going forex from now on. Seriously had enough of it. You can get burned so damn fast with this BTC market. Long nor short, you will get burned somehow. Imagine going in for a long position for $1500 and it drops $15, you nearly lose $890 right away. It's insanity Smiley

Im done with Plus500 and BTC at this moment. Withdrawn my money and I'll check once in a while what the prices be. Still have my own 12 Bitcoins left. See what it's worth in a month.. or 2.

Sounds like your out of your depth. Perhaps play a different game.

If you want to generate wealth, then you have to either 1) work hard 2) be talented 3) deceive others

4) Let others do the hard work for you.

Wealthy people don't usually get wealthy by working for themselves. They let others do the hard work for them. And no this isn't taking advantage of people, it's called giving someone else a job.

That's an easy one to understand. You see bitcoin is a very high risk investment, but likewise the returns could also be high.
Some people don't want to take that risk, but at the same time don't want to miss out on an opportunity. So what do they do? Easy, they hope and attempt to make it fail. That way they didn't stomach any risk, didn't lose out on any gains, and can say "I told you so".

This forum is indeed very pathetic. I assume not many of you here are seasoned traders. This is purely an amateur hour, I left this shyte coin in the dust months ago and went back to equities and forex. This instrument will continue in a downtrend, this behavior is all too familiar. Getting coins at sub 200 was a nice move yes... whoever locked it in god job. At this point I would suggest only profiting from temporary volatility be it in upward or downward momentum. It will never reach its previous point of 800+...As of now it seems to be still moving in a strong downward momentum. It might break out to lets see 260 level then possibly 280 before another drop. People who bought their coins at 400 or 600.. and were 'hodling'. Well, I suggest you get better jobs my friends.

Why you need to start a new account to tell us that? Why not use your real account?
