In my case, as european, is time to wake up and see that my order at 650USD didn't get filled, the downtrend stopped just couple of USD before Undecided

I'm the best buying high and selling low. I did it buying a couple of days ago at 712, and I've done it again today, selling at 591.  Beat me Shocked  Cool

Why would you sell there if you bought at 712..
Wait a few weeks and you have a big chance we have been higher then 712.
I've never met someone who lost money by holding bitcoin in the long term. The only people who lose money in a 1000% annual bull market are the day traders.

I'm just 'gambling' with a few bucks, and I panicked during this small crash from 630 to 590; luckily I'm long term with 99.9% of my BTC on COLD STORAGE... I agree with you, HODLING is the only way not to lose any BTC.

If I just were able to use my good prediction skills, but in the opposite way (lol)... I would have doubled my BTC's easy Grin

Stop spreading FUD... I've just made a withdrawal of BTC on BS; after activating 2Fa there (it asked me to do so), I've got no problem.

They called out FUD all the time, when only a few withdrawls on Stamp worked.
There are right now 10+ members reporting in the last hours(no newbs or trolls), who are having this issue.
So please stop calling everything FUD.
We all know what happened after that.

Do you have 2fa activated? It asked me to do so, and after that, I can withdraw BTC

EDIT: @Dragonkiller Ok, so it's not related with 2fa, thanks for the confirmation. Anyway, if they had real problems with BTC liquidity, why deactivate just a bunch of the accounts instead of everyone?

I did receive that E-mail as well, I just read the email and was like "yes nice try", so I guess that was it.

I wonder how stamp knows which accounts received that e-mail, assuming that is the withdraw suspension trigger.

Maybe they detected a flaw on the system, and a bunch of emails were compromised... and maybe that's all about, including the upcoming official statement by BS.

Everyone of those who received the BTCguard email, have the withdrawals suspended?

I'm almost sure they had a flaw in security, because as I sad, it was the first time that I was advised to activate 2fa (in red letters) just after login. And with all this phising emails (they probably got the addresses due to the flaw), and the problem with withdrawals... In the best case, they have just experienced a lot of failed logins recently. In the worst case, its database has been compromised  Huh Undecided

Care to wait for the facts instead of making them up?

Aren't we on speculation forum?  Grin

PS: I'm not saying that BTC or FIAT Have been compromised; just that perhaps a bunch of emails do have

ok here is something to think about, who of you use and android ? and use the same email for google account with Bitstamp? it could be a Bitcoin related APP.... I need some co-operation here, we need to know from where they've got our emails...

Don't use android.

Someone on reddit got a reply from stamp support:

Dear xXx, Bitstamp has detected an increase in the number of reports of phishing emails which were also received by some of our clients. Our technical team responded by examining the threat and setting immediate security measures in place to prevent potential risks.
As a precaution we have also applied this security measure to your account.
If you have received any emails with suspicious content and have opened links or attachments we highly recommend that you immediately contact a computer expert.
While we appreciate that this comes as an inconvenience we are convinced that our security precautions are in accordance with your expectations in keeping your account secure.
If you consider that your system was not affected we kindly ask you to notify us in a reply to this ticket so we can enable your withdrawals again.
Thank you for your understanding.

Man, I just bought an Android to have a wallet, after Apple removed BChain from iOS  Embarrassed (but haven't received any email, and ofc, I've downloaded just two BTC Apps... I'm always fearful of this kind of malware apps)

I have an iOS and Android App on all my devices, called Authy, where I store my 2FA keys. They are synced between devices and encrypted, so you wont lose them

EDIT: @Dragonkiller Ok I misunderstood the android thing lol

wouldn't be better for us and for the whole Bitcoin economy, that Gox shuts down instead of driving the price to $0? and if eventually they disappear, it won't hurt the whole network in the meanwhile...

Ninja-edit: oh well, it wouldn't be that good for you guys who have money there  Lips sealed

After getting this noon a message on BitStamp balance telling me to activate 2FA, now I get another one telling that my Password is too old. What's happening?

@podyx same here

I know that gox is goxing ( Roll Eyes) because of its messy wallet system, but... I don't get really how bitcoinbuilder works. I mean, could anyone summarize me how is it possible to transfer gox-coins between MtGox and that website, if BTC withdrawals are halted? Are those Goxcoins really another kind of BTC with another kind of address keys that let you to transfer those virtualBTC but not withdrawn realBTC? I though it was just a way of speaking, not a different sub-layer of coins system. Huh

gox allows internal transfer of goxbtc from one gox account to another

That was my guess, thx  Wink

I don't get this: how would be Mark recovering REAL bitcoins buying GOXcoins after selling REAL BTC on other exchanges (as many of you are saying)? if they have lost their real BTC that were supposed to backup those GoxCoins on Gox, it doesn't matter how many Goxcoins he buys at such low price, they are just false coins, aren't they?    Huh

The same happens with Fees; I don't get how Mark would be doing lots of BTCs from Fees, if those are FALSE COINS and real ones are missing? He is just making money from FIAT (and would have to buy real BTC from other exchanges, at higher prices)

If they have really lost many BTC, as it seems, I don't believe that this situation will help Gox to recover anything...

Picture of that manor in a less modified state:

It's funny that rpietila actually deleted this link from his thread.
If he is able enough to restore that manor, then my respects. Always good to see historical manors restored in my country.
I don't consider bad photoshopping as proper restoration though.

I don't even consider that photoshopping  Roll Eyes
