It feels like the old days.

Major Alts are lagging like hell while Bitcoin (modestly) soars. A good sign, I would say.

What am I missing? I see Bitcoin at $276.

Soars?

For most of the past week the alts were mostly dropping in price while Bitcoin went up in price. It was almost as if people were dumping their alts to but Bitcoin, which was a nice turnaround. People usually dump Bitcoin to buy the latest flavor of the month alt that's being pumped.

Soaring - skyrocketing - Its a nice turnaround indeed, but hardly comparable to the excitement we have seen in 2013 and 2014....

Bitcoin is just bouncing around, as it has been doing for the past 2 years. Bitcoin is stuck with all possible evolution made impossible, a victim of its own success.

Some people will sell good alts and use fiat to attempt to catch the 15% rise left in this period, while missing out on the 100%+ you can get on active and evolved alts.

How would you describe the last 3-4 days of market trading? Does it look like accumulation? Been staring at charts to much today. Just wondering.

The thing is that the big scary dragon is buying ... a lot! ... but by the amounts he buys, it does not make sense to sell now.... just the little fish seem to sell and some mediocre dumpers.

But ... the weird complicated thing is that he will not sell at a loss! When he/they will pump it will go to a high of a bubble that can't be reached too often.

So basically I see him buying and buying ... then going directly to $2500 - 7500$ ... as an astronomical amount for others and when he dumps he will force the others to keep their price so they don't encourage losses.

If he succeeds this, he/they will created a huge shortage of coins that will force the price to stay above 2500$+ and maintain the position of the needers, for the people to maintain confidence and profit.

BTC price has remained the same during the past 3 days; what big scary buying dragon are you talking about.  Or is this dragon smart enough to buy without causing price to move?

Remember when bitcoin used to go up slowly and crash fast?

Seems to be the reverse now. Bullish as fuck!

This may be the start of a flawless bullmarket gentlemen.
Very true, I really believe its being pushed up now though because of halving and the supply cut. Still hoping for 900+ in July  Smiley

technically this market is following a herd psychology - BTC still has not resolved its very big issues.  How long does a flawed asset climb in value?

If we have no external problems and BTC can just hush along as it pleases i expect this rally to be lasting a while. Nevertheless if the blocksize fight escalates again in July it might be the end of this bullish cycle.

I hope that Luke, Adam and Matt will fulfill their promise and deliver the HF code, otherwise we could see some ugly High Noon between chinese miners and Core and you can bet that markets won't like that.

https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/4o2nii/please_bring_a_message_to_those_core_individuals/

I agree with what you said, but I believe in the core devs. and I respect their words, I nearly take their words forgranted.

I believe in the sanity of chinese miners, if prices are as pleasant as they are right now, i expect them to back down a little cause they know about the devastating PR-effects of such a showdown (including a fork, change of Hash and so on and on). In a way the rise in price keeps the problem at bay cause everybody is happy. At least i hope so.

Part of the BTC centralization problem is the aspect that nobody outside China can make deep changes to the Bitcoin network. Last time I checked, they still like their block sizes, small.

I am afraid BTC price will remain the same way, too.

This is great news for Bitcoin, 2 more weeks of price rise to look forward to... enjoy these 2 green weeks, it has been a long comeback!

why is there such low volume on bitstamp? is there any controversy surrounding the exchange? i used to hold it in the highest regard.

I don't think it's ever done a proof of reserves since it got hacked, and it wants more KYC than some other exchanges. The exchanges that want retinal scans, passports, bank statements, fingerprint scans, mortgage scans, 20 different types of government ID, etc aren't the most popular exchanges. Nobody knows why, it's just the way it is.

Yes indeed, although its an unrelated problem it's exactly when that KYC bullshit was implemented that Cryptsy went down. Since then, I stay away from exhanges with KYC policies.

this is fine.
just a higher low.
buy now,
HODL,
profit!

The Bitcoin price will only truly correct itself after the block halving, so this can't be it already. Bitcoin could continue to go up until then...

Yes, I think this picture sums up very well the upcoming Bitcoin halving.  Bring back usability to Bitcoin, development team, or forget it and let's think about another Crypto currency.

Bitcoin movement has been disappointing lately. Any idea when will the block size issue be fixed?

Well, the coin that shall not be named had a very contentious hard fork this morning, splitting the currency into two and destroying its value!

Just kidding, there is no god.

But there could be a King!

 Roll Eyes

Editing or doctoring the ETH blockchain this way has opened a dangerous precedent which will inspire other sloppy coin coders in the future.  I praise the exchange Cryptopia.co.nz for delisting ETH.

I have lost all confidence in ETH.

Block size is not a concern for BTC because BTC is not a transaction type of currency, it is a store of value currency. Nobody cares if it takes 10 minutes to transact in bitcoin because that has been how long it has taken for confirmation since inception. And nobody that is waiting 10 minutes is buying a cup of coffee.

A store of value currency, that's value is based on artificial scarcity is a foolish concept. Best store of value is in goods, that actually are scarce, and therefor hold solid value. If store of value is mostly based on speculation and faith, then it's too fragile to be a proper place to store value, because those 2 things are anything but predictable and static.
Currency itself hasn't been created for storing value, but to transact value and by that help the dynamics of economy. It's the dream of fat lards, that currency would hold or even enlarge their wealth, while they sit on their ass. Economy, nor even evolution doesn't work like that. Fat lards won't get rewarded for their laziness and the basic principle of currency will remain - your wealth will shrink if you won't keep it moving and your wealth will only enlarge if you work with it by developing new economic paths.

Yup; this Block size issue is a very big hurdle in BTC's way. Artificial scarcity won't work at making it more valuable if BTC is not more useful. Right now, we should use Paypal as the comparison benchmark to evaluate how useful is BTC.

I expect the price to increase a lot before September.

Why please? You expect Bitcoin's fundamental problems to be solved by September?

seriously i dont even blame bitfinex, i blame everyone who is such a moron to keep his coins on exchanges. even after we had so many hacks meanwhile...

totally agree with you man... who leaves coin in an exchange after all these problems. Exchanges are made to be in --> out

BTC had a nice run up to 20000$ then crashed to 5500$, which is what it always does after such a strong rise.

Personally I am waiting for 100 000$.
