Changing a variable from 1MB to 2MB or 20MB is not "work" per se. It's a few bytes of code change.
How can that even classify as some kind of serious work.

The value is not in the "work" per se. The value is in the result.
Words of wisdom that I have heard all year, congrats on that  Cheesy
Value is measured by the work put in as I like to point out. But that is not what we are striving here at this time. It is uncertain where it will go as of now.

Main reason of falling rate of BTC is halving. People still thinking that after halving price of bitcoin will goes down as it will hard to mine as rewards will be half than now!

People are selling their bitcoins so as per demand and suply formula  price of bitcoins is going down.
Keep selling  Grin

So, what's the current consensus? That's the end of finex as a relevant trading platform?

maybe.. because this is all starting to look sketched .. i have never traded on bitfinex, therefore, i have no interest or emotions tied into their hackfest.. the impression i am getting is a US exchange based in hong kong who kept all their coins in hot wallets to skirt the sec (or whatever they are called) .. they suddenly get hacked for 120k coins 68M and now they are the authority setting the precedence that exchanges will do bail-ins to socialize losses.. they are planning to push out their very own "token" that might become a tradeable asset on their exchange .. if they dump alt coins on exchanges to buy the BTC they need to recoup their losses, this could be considered market manipulation by BFX exchange ... the whole thing is full of sketch ... BFX problems might be just starting .... probably better hold on and see how this all plays out... cuz these guys look sketchy as hell right now .

Place your bets.... I think we will witness chaos either way.

That is true. If anybody has a leveraged position, he is either going to get bankrupt, or very very rich.
I don't have the stomach to take those kind of risks.

I am not leveraged but i am way overweight on btc ownership... i am deciding whether to liquidate into dollars for the next week or so....

You forget the chinese withdrawals that start tomorrow. When the chinese people see that the price is dropping they always panic and sell. So this means that wee can expect a drop tommorrow, and when ETF is not approved, what is likely to happen, will cause in an another drop. We are going to test 950 usd

Chinese are already trading on other places, such as localbitcoins and other exchanges in the world, they haven't just stayed out sleeping in their home waiting around for their exchanges to open or not!

and when Chinese exchanges open tomorrow (if that is the date) Chinese will start buying the dip as they always do to catch up to the rest of the world and catch up with their cheap coin accumulation.
Chinese aren't dumb. They didn't put all their coins in one basket being their exchanges.
They diversified and placed more on other exchanges and sites like localbitcoins and paxful for constant trading.
What do you think the largest population of mined coins had in mind as a contingency plan if all went tits up on their own China exchanges. Do you think they trust their government with their moneys or bitcoins security? You must be dreaming.

A possible scenario is that someone found out the ETF was going to be denied.

They bought a shitload of bitcoins to drive the price up to $1350 then shorted the shit out of it driving it down to $1180. This resulted in a bunch of people assuming the ETF was approved which drove the price up.

I have a personal theory, I think it will not pass and they have pumped and dumped it to showcase how volatile the market can be (which is a good thing since bitcoin is still tiny, so it means there is an huge upwards potential) but those bureaucrats don't like volatility and will use it as an excuse to not pass it.

Of course, maybe it passes and we are sitting on 3000 by tomorrow... we'll see.

My biggest concern right now is BUcoin and the china Psyops Jihan Wu in order to become the dictator of bitcoin. Hopefully we can get rid of these cunts without killing the entire project in the process.

Those "real" people all have vested interest in altcoins that count on bitcoin crash to cause their sh!tcoins appreciate.
Civil war as in the blockchain and bitcoin unlimited, war between these two will not end well.

Hmm...this is how shills are born. Sell low, buy alts high, then try to recover your losses by trying to get everyone else to buy your alt with the hopes of breaking even and selling.

Probalities. We saw several big alts hitting 100-1000% gains while btc is/was falling.
If btc goes further south chances are good that people will jump into alts for a while.
This is a very strange occurrence if you ask me.
Both these two (ETH/DASH) going up at the very same time and one is half the amount of the other's worth (40mbtc/80mbtc) right now is very weird and should be looked into further to find out why them while the BTC price  is falling suddenly. Usually it's the other way around with BTC increases so do the alt prices.
Where is Litecoin in all of this? Usually it's LTC price increase with the BTC's.

Yup. Just had to talk my coworker out of buying into the ETH/Dash bubble. He had a serious case of FOMO. Sure, the price may be much higher before it bursts. But you have to be retarded not to see that this growth is not sustainable...
My thoughts exactly. But there has to be a reason for this maddness of the HUGEEEE pump up in their prices within the last 72-96 hours since I noticed them increases 3.4-6.7% every 6-8 hours.

...

For the last two years the pattern was: BTC goes down -> LTC goes down with it ; BTC goes up - > LTC stays flat

But for the last week, LTC started displaying the reversal of this trend. First it just stayed at the same point no matter what happened to BTC. Now it's showing some growth. My guess is people are considering that it's bottomed out after falling for 3 years and that it's a good buy-in point.
No confused about that point.
I am about how Ethereum and Dash can be doing this because their worth is much more prominent then Litecoin's is.
Litecoin has always been bitcoin's little brother wanting to be what he has become but never will.
But now ETH and DASH has broken out and are "moose on the loose" phenoms.

Made me smile  Cheesy.

At least check this out: https://grayscale.co/ethereum-investment-trust/

I think it has a much higher chance of approval than a bitcoin ETF.
Its just starting

It looks like similar wording to the existing GBTC in which case they don't need the SEC and it will happen. A nice asset for the space. It never really set Bitcoin on fire though, perhaps it'll do more for ETC.

You are right. Because of its small marketcap it is already rising very fast because of the hype. When there is a ETC ETF it will moon bigtime. It feels like Ethereum in its early days. First just a small thing, nobody cared about it. After that lots of other coins join the Ether chain, smart contracts started and it became a real crypto platform. Etc looks like a ugly little brother of Ethereum but when you can actually use it for something like a ETF it finaly gets a purpose and it will go moon.

BTC = store of value, the crypto king, ETH= crypto smart contract platform with tokens , ETC= ETF crypto coin  Huh Would be awesome if you ask me.
This would be the best thing for both sides and I can see it happening for Ethereum to have an ETF.
It already had the split of chains happened so that is out of the way for speculators to say that bitcoin is still in a volatile state right now with all this Bitcoin unlimited business still looming on their minds.
And in a way this can take Ethereum on it's own path away from being just known as a alternative to bitcoin but on it's own as a tool to the smart contracting that they want to promote it as.
This would solidify it as a true business minded platform that all the banks want it to be so they can start using it. They will then all have a sense of "control" of where this cryptocurrency is to be sculptured into for their own gains and purposes, unlike what they would have with the acceptance of bitcoin.
This is very thing the banking commission are known for with all their fees and charges(more profit more commission!) they impose on their clients and users everyday of the year.
That is infact a picture perfect marriage in paradise if they can tie an ETF to ETH and have ETC to distribute their clients money conversions on a daily basis.
I think that was their plan all along.
Anyone else notice the SEC looked as if they didn't give any thought about their decision to let bitcoin have an ETF. As if they knew all along they were going to reject it even if it was presented to them.
They held the original day of the decision on it over the weekend!
So that right there tells you they didn't put even a thought into having it pass in the first place.

Do not ever believe it when a news article states that a country has banned Bitcoin. Most people do not verify it because they do not speak the native language.

Every time I have checked into one of these "X country just banned Bitcoin!", it is usually the central bank making a statement that they will not allow Bitcoin on their system. It's like saying that Burger King burgers are banned because the CEO of McDonalds releases a statement saying that no Burger King burgers will be sold by McDonalds. Then McDonalds goes on to warn about the risk you are taking by eating a Burger King burger.

Sure, some central banks have a tighter hold on their country's government than others but there is never a ban. If you go on localbitcoins you can buy/sell in every country in the world except Germany. And that is only because Germany declared Bitcoin a "private money". But in so doing, they tied all of their regulations to money to Bitcoin which included having a license to run an exchange (and they considered localbitcoins an exchange).
Well banned isn't the right word my mistake. But Thailand are arresting people for using it so it is a law.
And I didn't see this on the news. It was mentioned on here by another member. So this is were I first heard of it. And I was also in a questionable sense when I heard of this.

Can't see any pullbacks yet on this view

All because of this. It's the only good news I can see from it rising from the ashes of $2726 DIP to it's BURST UP so FAST NOW!

That news article is from 2015...
So it was. Grin
I remember in the Bank on Bitcoin movie released earlier this year they were mentioning about about it being offered on the NYSE but the guy who was banking his life saving on it went bankrupt because his exchange right next door to wall streets did not fly. Undecided
Then all the sudden the New York finance minister demanded all bitcoin sellers to have a license including any exchanges that were located in New York.
That is why I got all excited reading the headline(thus forgot to look at the date the article was published! Cheesy ) I thought it was abolished now and it was free to trade on the NYSE without a license.

By the tone of your posts; "Nothing can stop ETH now, it's proven itself. It's gonna keep going up forever", I'd say it's definitely near a top.
The only thing that can possibly stop ETH in my opinion is another hack worse than the first. I think it is more likely that in 10 years ETH will be king and we will all look back and the reasons will be obvious as to why.

Ether bubble will burst anytime in the future. can you tell me a use case of Ethereum which is Live today?

for the use case of digital money we have Bitcoin.

https://medium.com/@yobanjo/how-etheroll-and-other-dapps-will-kill-ethereum-e973d8e1c465

Bitcoin is not really digital money. It tried to be for a while, but Dell dropped Bitcoin recently, Egghead and Overstock haven't seen any benefits. Bitcoin is primarily a store of value more than anything else. For example, with a $15 transfer fee nobody is buying a t-shirt with Bitcoin. But will someone put $100k into bitcoin as a safe haven and pay a $15 fee, sure you bet they will.

Bitcoin has value today because it is trusted as a safe place to guard your welath, safer than anything else. People have extreme confidence in Bitcoin itself, vastly more so than Ethereum.

Ethereum's use case is the platform of the new Money 2.0 economy. Bitcoin introduced the concept, but without any doubt whatsoever nearly EVERY significant money 2.0 project is built on Ethereum not Bitcoin. The asset list on coinmarketcap proves Ethereum's use case. Ethereum is doing exactly what Vitalik set out for it to do. Bitcoin digital asset projects are garbage in comparison.
So you think this will make the price of bitcoin go down from the words of the Vitalik?
The banks are looking towards ethereum as a way to control digital transactions using the blockchain technology in what they have seen being displayed using etherscan.

Ethereum's market cap is rising so fast that if Bitcoin's price does not increase soon, Ethereum will be number 1 in Market Cap. That will be a sad day for Bitcoin.

Bitcoin deserve that. Slow, pricy, china centered. I used to like Btc, but not anymore. I make transaction with HYPER inflated fees and wait 10 years for confirmation to go through... F* it...

Last night I waited 12 hours for confirmation at the standard fee.

I understand that the miners want to turn a buck and that they are throwing around
massive amounts of energy and hardware...

Somehow I wonder if this is still elegant enough for the top of the
line cryptocurrency.

I paid extra today for a speedier transaction & it still took half an hour. If the miners keep being part of the problem rather than the solution something else is going to come along and spank Bitcoin's ass.
This was strange to me too.
I had a send with a 65 sat/KByte fee attached to it and didn't expect it to get confirmed for hours or if at all.
Note, I didn't put the transaction fee on it mind you, it was in the wallet's hands I was sending from.
But it got first confirmation in less than 10 minutes.
So something happened to the miners getting enough since the pump up in bitcoin price or blockchain is feeling the heat from what ethereum is capable of doing the same thing but for much much cheaper and faster.
Competition is always a good thing in the end to the end user.

Just sick and tired of all this drama that comes with bitcoin.
Ala miners fees going thru the roof, with even casinos asking for triple the amount needed to be able to withdraw from you own wallet.
And the wait for transactions going on and on and on.

Just to hell with it! Angry
