So we get to keep all our coins, sell the fork's coins for a fair amount of cash, and the coins we hold shoot up to the moon in value?

That sounds like the kind of sweet deal that will entice speculators to buy in advance.

Yeah just wondering why the whales dump coins periodically. Why couldn't they hold for a while (at least 3-4 months) and then cash out with at least +20-30% profit?

Unfortunately, I got a PACMiC contract, so ATM is looks like I may not have much of a choice. Hopefully, Jihan Wu can wait to pull the trigger until after I am fully cashed out.  Sad

Now that's exactly the reason why we had the latest dump. Even now when we're back to almost 1k these panic sellers can't wait to cash out  Grin

Hardly, for many of them it's like herd instinct - it's enough to see someone sell and price going down and they start to panic and sell like crazy.

How I see it: I've convinced myself that the bitcoin price will be significantly higher at some point in time. Reason enough for me to hold through everything.
I would advise to keep some eggs in another basket. Don't place all eggs into one basket.
Those rules maybe ancient, but have proven themselfes since some time.

but what other basket would have so much profit potential as BitcoinČ

Exactly! Was going to start a business not a long time ago but when I found out how much should I invest in equipment, vehicles, salaries, premises rent etc and compared to the potential profit I asked myself why? My BTCs are earning more just by sitting in my cold wallet.  Roll Eyes

I think I already did. See my post about the tweet that went out from Wang Chun of F2Pool. If that caused panic it would quickly bounce back because it was likely misunderstood. Now that we have broken back below 1200, it could create the beginning of a short term downtrend though.

We'll be back into 12xx in minutes

How sad it is - just another dump by the whales to make weak hands panic so they can buy some cheap coins. As in the real world economy - the rich are getting richer the poor are getting poorer. I guess we're back on the right track though and BTC is recovering...

That's too complicated for those guys. It's much easier to buy high and panic sell low. Smiley

Crucial support has been broken around 3800 USD. The 'back to normal' phase is drawing to an end.
The large move down is about to begin, the one that will confirm the bear market in the coming days and weeks.

We will go down slowly to $1500.

It will go down low enough to entice MatTheCat to come back (like $900).  Mat will then all-in.  It will then instantly go to $0.  Everyone reading this knows this is exactly what will happen.

Hahaha the funniest post in this thread for sure  Grin This is never going to happen, except for maybe in your dreams.

Well my take on the current state of play is like this:

People who had the inside knowledge on what was brewing in China shorted and dumped to induce some fear into the market.

Then starts the FUD, drip, drip, drip. Price goes down accordingly. Then the actual news was confirmed. Down some more. Nom,nom, cheap coins.

Then Jamie Demon, who probably also had the inside line on China has a go. Even cheaper coins. All while the price hasn't gone anywhere near parabolic for this cycle. Banks are scared, with profit and revenue down. To them $180bn is a big fucking pie. Governments are worried too, as we all know. They would all love to see crypto fail. And yet some people still want even cheaper coins, cue more FUD about China banning mining. These people are either playing the long game and don't care if they push it into a bear market, or they think it's gonna moon.

It's the evil plot by some governments and banksters to grab some cheap coins. If it's too late and BTC is closing in on $5000 why don't we just crash the market down with some fud and jump on board of a leaving train.  Grin

They do. People are fantasizing here, on the /bitcoin subreddit and even in news publications about 1,000,000$ /BTC prices.
How is that not a silly exageration?

Now imagine Bitcoin is the new global currency. How many USD are there in paper + "virtual"? 5 trillion? Maybe even more?

We all know that Bitcoin supply is limited to 21 million. Now the $1m/BTC forecast doesn't seem so crazy anymore?
