Sigh.... Kids.  Smiley

The original poster's family life was nearly destroyed by Bitcoin.  nThe first thing you degenerates need to do is admit that you have a problem, and then start some sort of a 12-step recovery/support group.

Forgive my ignorance but what does Greece have to do with the price of BTC?

Remember the banking crisis in Cypress? There is a possibility of a massive pump if a critical mass of Greeks use Bitcoin to evade/avoid capital controls, should capital controls be implemented.

That's what people said with the Ruble crash but nope Sad

There are some differences. Russia faced sanctions, which were externally-imposed capital controls and they were/are limited. It's also an economy many orders of magnitude larger and is controls by an autocratic strongman. Even so, Russia is even now experimenting with an alternative to the SWIFT system, so I'm not writing them off just yet.

Let's hope both Russia and Greece get into it, let's make the price steady for once!

Russians are "sort of" not allowed to buy bitcoins.

There's always a way!

I mean, yeah, disaster, but also molasses...  Everything going horribly wrong ...in slow motion.

LambChop the troll strikes again.

Could this be the reason for the current rise?

EDIT: Oops, no rise?
Do you really think every little swing in this or any market can be correlated with news? Do you really think it's worthwile to try? Really?

You are right... just because there were 20 or 30 times when that happened last year, it does not mean that it will happen again.

they were pumps & dumps Sad

Tarmi you do not mine multiple bitcoins daily..

But keep up the bs.

I remember the days when some cheap gpu-s like 5850 mined almost 1 btc a day.

you probably bought those coins from me and now feel angry.

I think I bought them at 5. I'm happy  Smiley

Lucky you.

Radeon 5850 cards were about $300 usd when they came out in 2009.  Very expensive back then late 2009.  Lets say the price dropped somewhat by fall 2010, bitcoin price was only like .05 so buying a card for $150-200 to mine .05 a day used more electricity than the coins it mined.  So it was still a gamble, experiment back then.

It still is a gamble, experiment. But back then there was less to loss.

Yes becaus people who already had the video cards were using them to game, and mine on the side.  But to buy it and mine exclusively had to be crazy. I dont even think they knew about the gpu power until 2011 or 2012.  They were still using cpu back then until they figured out the computing efficiency

I remember doing that actually. Gamed and mined a little whenever I wasn't gaming.

it is actually far more riskier to mine today with asics because you could always sell your gpus, but you cant do jack shit with asics once they go in red.

Which is why you cloud mine! Just buy, mine then resell (at a profit?)

you cant really compete with asic producers. only if you have low electricity, like below 0.06 $.

Exactly.

Intel q6600 is still only drop to $30 and 4 years ago was $60

XFX 5870 now is almost same price as almost 2 years ago on used market.

Which one is more powerful? Or are they the same power/kind?

What I meant is that "bitcoin insurance" can probably only be what circle and coinbase are offering, basically telling people that "it's all insured" but if your computer/account gets hacked you are screwed and they don't give you a penny.
Considering bitcoin is irreversible and all, good luck with actual consumer protection.

If I let my computer get hacked, and the thieves empty my fiat bank account, I'm screwed, too. No difference.

One of my neighbours had her bank card stolen after she went to an ATM. The thieves had seen her typing in her code. She got nothing from the bank.

Sounds like utter bullshit.  What country do you live in?

Entirely possible even in the US.
