Cardreader accept Bitcoin since 2012  15-Oct-12    We are now accepting Bitcoins as payment.

So why satoshi will use a burned account 2 years after vanished to buy some carder stuff with is real identity & real address paying cash or bitcoin is available.. So much nonsense

[Suspicious link removed]j.com/articles/wal-mart-plans-to-begin-offering-checking-accounts-1411575699

Quote
Wal-Mart Stores Inc. plans to begin offering checking accounts by the end of next month that doesn't charge overdraft fees, in contrast to the independent banks currently housed within the retail giant.

The world's largest retailer and partner Green Dot Corp. are planning a national rollout of the checking account service that will be called GoBank. Green Dot, through its Green Dot Bank, is big provider of prepaid debit cards—including Wal-Mart's.

In addition to touting lower costs, the GoBank mobile checking service will provide access for customers that may not typically have access to banks. GoBank won't use credit scores in determining eligibility, but it instead plans to use its own proprietary underwriting methods to allow just about any customer that passes ID verification to open an account.

The accounts won't have a minimum balance requirement or overdraft fees. A monthly membership fee of $8.95 will be waived for qualified customers with direct deposits of at least $500 a month. The accounts will include mobile features such as the ability to instantly send money via email or texting and come with a linked MasterCard Inc. debit card.

Green Dot shares got a boost from the news, rising as much as 15% Wednesday.

Meanwhile, customers of independent banks located within Wal-Mart's retail outlets are among America's highest payers of bank fees—a large chunk of which come from overdraft charges. Some of the leading banks at Wal-Mart also pitch accounts to people who otherwise might not have access to banks, including those with bad credit histories.

Several years ago, Wal-Mart itself had aimed to get into the banking business. The retailer dropped a bid for its own banking charter in 2007.

Game over, bitcoin is useless now.

All major merchants who receive BTC immediately sell.
As a miner, I need to sell just to squeak buy; other miners probably doing the same; soon it will not be profitable to mine and many will stop.
Sold half my stash recently; may simply wait to buy back cheap as everyone panics; cheaper than mining.
Everyone selling, doesn't look good. Cry

Adam at what price do you recommend loading up the truck with silver. I remember you mentioning 14-15 a while ago. Sorry to digress.

13.75

that is the magic number for silver

might dive lower then this tho for 1 or 2 days on a bad week for silver

if you watch it closely you can probably get 12$ silver, is my guess.

its not like silver is the investment of a life time tho ( its not even an investment really, its buying this THING that you hope will hold value as fiat inflates, aka store of value )

pretty sure you'll be fine with or without a silver coin collection...

thats the way i see it, so i'm only a buyer if i think the price feels really low.

$250 in the cards here ? lol  Cool

Where has it all come from?

There's no major news from what I can tell, it all seems to be from a speculation of a trend reversal.

I'm thinking maybe a lot of people believe we hit bottom, and are looking for entry.

Or maybe all the major news over the past 6 months, not priced in yet.
all my trading and price developement understanding comes only from bitcoin, but imho
"News" start to be priced in just before they become "News". As soon as everybody knows (/thinks/believes/fears/hopes) something it is already in the price.

BUY the rumor ~ SELL the fact !  Wink

The crash and 30k sell off got a lot of news. A positive effect is that it got the attention of a lot of new people who thought it was a good time to get in. This was exactly what we needed. The best thing that could happen at this point.

We saw crazy buying pressure the last few days but this has stopped because all these new people who bought coins got completely dumped on by traders who tried to take their 50 bucks profit. This is combination with the big dumps as we've seen the last few months and people putting up big ask walls everytime we go up and the probably only uptrend we could've wished for has stopped.

New people will stop buying. They realize they are giving away their money to scum traders who destroy the very same product they try to invest in.
Let's hope it's not completely over yet and there are still enough new people who are willing to give this a try. But even if there are chances are they will get dumped on as soon as the price rises a bit. Traders and dumpers will keep doing this till there is noone to dump on anymore.

Sons of the internet, I am AdamStgBit, and I see a whole army of my countrymen here in defiance of closed source centralized systems, you've come here to buy and sell on the free market, and a free men you are ( expect for Jorge, sadly...). What will you do without FREEDOM!?? WILL YOU BUY!?

"No! No! we will sell and/or hope for lower prices, if not, least we'll have some fiat, to pay the bills"

Ya ok, buy now and you might lose, sell now and you'll have some fiat to pay the bills.

At least a while...

And drowning in debt many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that, for once chance, just one chance! to come back here and tell the bankers that they may take our mortgage payment directly out of our accounts without asking, and even take the house after taking all our money, but they'll never take our BITCOINS!!!

LOL

no.

women want love, more then they want orgasms.

they want you to put the seat back down

they want you to come to bed at a reasonable hour and "snuggle"

they want you to buy them flowers every once in a while

they want you to tell them nice things, like " you look good in that dress"

they want you to give a shit

thats pretty much it

orgasms are easy, all this other shit, thats hard.

Uhh, again, this time bolded for emphasis:
The problem is, women are more sensitive to the emotional mood of the relationship, so if you're not treating them right outside of sex, they won't be able to get off during sex. Unlike men, women generally cannot get off with people they've started to loathe, and once the loathing starts, you're fucked, but in all the wrong ways, and it's time to end the relationship.

...they just require somewhat different things (not just sex but it is a much bigger part than men give it credit for)...

P.S. If orgasms are easy to give her, chances are good she's lying about having them.

she's not faking... she sometimes squirts ( i am that good  Cool )

but, i wake up grumpy, i call her a bitch for waking me up 5 mins to early, or too late!
nothing shes dose is good enough, COME ON WOMEN DO IT DO IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
How dare you make something WeRid Supper for me!! O_o??
i stay on the internet chatting with you MOFOs instead of spending time with her
i piss all over the toilet seat and dont give a shit

see the problem?

its not about orgasms...

its about me being an asshole, and not giving a shit.

What are your thoughts on exchanges using other peoples BTC to short the market?
Unregulated and transparent are different things. One is honest.

Yes stocks can be shorted the same way, except stocks are not generated every day (and can be effectively sold twice at market price due to shorting).

This is the bullshit the whales are exploiting. Get your BTC (all of it) off of BitFinex and other exchanges that allow for this. Overall the sell pressure is probably much higher than even shorts + naked shorts typically generate in the stock market.

<speculation>
Yes. I believe someone has created a p&d bot and this is what we are seeing now. It might do another leg up or it might dump when it is done distributing. It is not running on Stamp as far as I can tell, but it is running on on Bitfinex and Huobi. It really kills the spirit because of the excessive dump it will take after it has completed it's cycle. After this volume and activity goes way down because everyone walks away in disbelief. I think it gauges sentiment by placing to walls close together (I'm totally guessing here). If the overall volume is high then the walls will be larger. Here it is:

http://i.imgur.com/G50gPm5.png

This is taken from Bitfinex. When it reaches the end of the green line it will either pump further or dump. Anyone with an understanding of bots who care to comment on whether this is bot action or not?

</speculation>

this could be the short squeeze everybody was anticipating IF it goes higher...

The best part about a short squeeze is that most people hang on farrr too long.
The even better part is we haven't really seen a big one in BTC yet. Could go nuclear (though it could also bust-up an exchange which would cause other dramas).

Having been caught out and lost my trading account before, leverage is only for the brave and nimble IMO. Kudos to those who use it to consistently profit in a market as highly volatile and unpredictable as bitcoin though.

I think if we break over 400 in the next day or two then shorts are going to burn.

Those that aren't buying are on the wrong side of the technology curve,

http://blogs.wsj.com/accelerators/2014/10/10/weekend-read-the-imminent-decentralized-computing-revolution/

That is nonsense... Computing and the internet were extremely decentralized in the late 1980s and 1990s. The megatrend, unfortunately, is towards centralization, where user-programmable personal computers are being replaced by sealed terminals of cloud computing and storage, and fully distributed services like SMPT e-mail, USENET, and institutional ftp servers and webservers are being replaced by centralized services, all provided by a handful of mega-corporations - Facebook, Google, Amazon, ... -- which are beyond even the weak public control that democracy provides.

Bitcoin itself, by the way, is decentralized only in appearance.  Decentralization is supposed to be good because it gives control and privacy to local communities and individuals.  But the idea of bitcoin is "we cannot trust banks and local governments with power to control the monetary system, so let's give all the power to ONE global robotic Network that handles all money in the world, and cannot be controlled by humans".  To me, it sounds like the plot of a 1950s sci-fi movie...

So you agree that Ripple will eventually overtake bitcoin. Understood.

will probably not even get to 390...

you spoke too soon

i didn't expect someone to leverage short 750 coins right now...lol

but it's fine...we'll be up anyway

Does leveraged short mean the exchanges are lending them money??

In a way. It means that the exchange gives them bitcoins e.g. give the exchange 1 bitcoin and they give you 10 (or 20 or 50, depending how much leverage you have).
They then dump these coins straight onto the market and try to rebuy cheaper. When they re-buy they can sell back to the exchange and pocket the difference.
There was a lot of money being made doing this all the way down from $600.

Now the price is going back up and the shorts forgot to buy back in. They are now being forced to buy back in but some brave souls are trying to dump more to stop the rise. Shit's getting real. Let's hope the exchange didn't get greedy either and lend more than they can get back!

This is the true meaning of sharks

I just learned what a short was last night, and to be honest, thats one hell of a risk if you ask me.

I am starting to have the same feeling (as a next step after this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg9216112#msg9216112).

yes the market is out to get you, buy 1 full coin and the market WILL drop and wait for you to sell that 1 coin back and then rise again, all volume between YOUR REAL trades is faked.

Mostly I was joking.. and/or exaggerating for shits and giggles.... as some may say.

Overall, I am NOT as pessimistic as you fellows seem to be making this out to be (at least at the moment).... but overall, if it is really true that some of the Chinese exchanges (and maybe even some of the other exchanges) are actually engaged in a sort of fractional reserve banking, then there may be some fuckerie going on, and I hope that is NOT the case.

We do need to get some mechanisms in place to disallow fractional reserve banking of BTC because then sooner or later, these fucking whale manipulators will run out of coins.  However, if these whale manipulators really are cheating by trading coins that they do NOT have, then that kind of problem is kind of BIG... and mechanisms need to be put in place to remove and/or minimize the ability for whale manipulators to accomplish such cheating (b/c bitcoin was NOT designed for fractional reserve banking).  I know that there is quite a bit of work in various aspects of the bitcoin space to attempt to address these fractional reserve banking issues... and hopefully sufficient progress is being made in order that we are able to channel our bitcoins into the right mechanisms (such as posters have mentioned the decentralized exchanges when they hopefully evolve).

Am I the only one here who considers the recent bullish sentiment to be irrational?

The bulls' main argument for a trend reversal seems to be the fact that, after falling ~$400 from this summer's highs, we have seen the first really significant bounce upwards. Honestly, I think that crashing really hard after a months long downtrend isn't exactly the best advertisement for potential new buyers, despite the bounce. And we urgently need those newcomers in order to absorb the constant downward pressure applied by newly mined coins.

Except newly minted coins are not sold on exchanges.

So you want someone to be able to steal your Bitcoins by getting near your phone?  Cryptocurrency uses a push model for payments, not a pull model.  Pull models only work when transactions are reversible.  That said, there is no reason why credit cards can't exist denominated in Bitcoin instead of USD.  There is also no reason why Apple Pay couldn't support Bitcoin as a currency in addition to USD as well.  Bitcoin should be considered as cash, offering the same consumer protection as cash: none.

Consumer protections will come when we have Bitcoin-denominated credit/debit cards.  We don't need Visa/Mastercard for this.  We just need a Bitcoin card that uses smart contracts to hold a transaction in escrow until approved by both parties.  On approval timeout, an escrow agent gets involved for a small fee and sends the money to the right place.  This should all be built into what I will dub a "Bitcoin Consumer Card" or "Bitcoin Consumer App", the latter which could aupport NFC like Apple Pay.

Possible, but someone just thought it was worth buying 10000 bitcoins at a USD value of around 3.8 million. There are valid arguments both ways but I see this accumulation period as bullish

Who are buying bitcoins now? Or do you wait for the price to even be lower or do you sell out everything? I've seen people saying that they fear the fall and end of BTC but many people just claim things they aren't so sure about. I mean that there are companies that does accept bitcoin and I am sure many more will, in the future. They aren't spending money, fiat, on something they don't belive in right. But what do they know that we dont know lol.

For months all the idiots here were praying for cheap coins. Every crash was amazing news. Best thing ever.
They expected that as soon as they bought a few "cheap coins" the price would move to 1k again.

Now they found out those days are over and the price isn't going anywhere but down.
People are getting out. There are no big players waiting to get in. There is no Wallstreet. There is no secret accumulation. It all turned out complete bs.

Bitcoin is dying. The party is over. The only thing it's good for are daily pump and dumps.

Nobody in real life is interested in Bitcoin. Apple pay did in a short time what Bitcoin couldn't achieve in years.
Unless you want to send money overseas and often there is no reason to use Bitcoin.
Average Joe doesn't give a shit about fees or decentralization and all the other Bitcoin selling points.

It's over.

People still go to Vegas and gamble even though the odds are against them.  I think people, even Wall Street, will go wherever there is a opportunity to make money.  Once the price really starts to swing back into a bull market the money will flow in.  I think it will have to be move back into the 600's or so though for the real rally to begin.  It is just a waiting game at this point.

..see you at $100...

The last big bubble lifted the price from ~120$ in early Oct/2013 to ~800$ in Jan/2014.  The fall from ~800$ in Jan/2014 to the present ~350$ can only be due to the undoing of that bubble (and to the undoing of the May/2014 "pseudo-bubble").

I cannot see any plausible explanation for the Oct-Nov/2013 bubble other than the opening of the mainland Chinese market.  The undoing of that bubble then must be due to the loss of that market.  According to a few articles, the Chinese bitcoin market consists mainly of amateur and semi-professional speculators who, lacking access to the stock market, were used to day-trading other bizarre commodities.

So, if those traders pull completely out of the market, the May/2014 pseudo-bubble is completely undone, and no new market opens, the price should eventually go back to ~120$.

Draw a straight line on the Bitstamp price chart, in log scale, from the prices at Jan/2014 (~800$) and at May 19, 2014 (~400$). Extrapolation of that line suggests that the price (minus the May pseudo-bubble) will reach ~120$ by the end of the year.

I suspect that the Chinese were responsible also for the Jan-Apr/2013 bubble, that lifted the price from ~12$ to ~120$.  Specifically, the start of that bubble seems to coincide with the hiring of Bobby Lee by BTC-China in Shanghai.  In that case, if that market closes too, so that the Jan-Apr/2013 bubble gets undone, the price could go down again to 10--20$.

Needless to say, these extrapolations will be moot if another market opens (COIN? Argentina? Africa?).

i know:  a new market is in order!  Smiley

in 32 Hours the price according to my sources will be $377   (+/- 5) Cool

yea, your only "source" is being too much invested and shitting your pants because of that....pathetic.

Promise me you will re-quote this at 01:00am ( GMT - UTC) in the early hours of Monday morning.  or Sunday night in the US
Provided that we hit the bottom at about 340$ I will be all in again after 355$, hope this is serious though because it will need much money to rebound at these prices so fast or some super bullish news (and not yet another service for vendors/merchants, maybe ETF or something)..

I don't understand why you got upset. Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt are bears' tools.
Permabulls can only do "up Up UP", "Choo Choo MF", "to da moon". They lack the brainpower to do quality FUD.
Right, because there are no bulls besides permabulls.

If I recall, mostly everybody was supposed to die on that train and a lot of them did (including the one who wasn't supposed to).

Some of the coins pass through 13p5iQkqBEVgKmPeJqEL2LBRS44PjX1dZL, which has received over 600k. Anyone know if this address is associated with a mining pool, exchange or tumbling service?

Im super confused. How has this address never received coins?

it has? and lots.

Your right. It was just blockchain.info being buggy. It showed nothing when I filtered to "received" but now it shows a bunch.

Im still confused.. why are there 3.5k sent to "himself" repeatededly and like 1btc sent to other addresses?

must be a big mining pools hot wallet or something.

for one bitcoin i will tell you where they are coming from!! muuahahaha :-)

I don't know if 377 is exactly right

I don't know if my timing is right.

But I am sure of the direction.  And i am sure 277 was the bottom and I am sure you'll never get to buy at sub 330 again.

You don't have to believe me.
