1st post here after lurking for a while....  Long enough to have a swathe of miscreants on ignore. Seriously, there is no incentive I can think of which would encourage the commitment to trolling that some of this douches possess.

Anyway, I've been a hodler since last time we were in the low five hundreds. (In Aussie dollars that is) I was there fairly early on and was excited as soon I managed to finally understand the concept. This took a while as I hate money, I hate the system and have little in the way of financial knowledge. This ignorance has cost me a great deal and caused my resentment of the system to rise exponentially. I see BTC as a huge weapon against the status quo and a great equaliser for people like me.
There a few avenues for dissent these days and BTC is the game changer.
I've been on the sidelines as whether to risk more savings ( I'm one third of my savings in BTC, thinking about adding some Monero) buying more coins   but feel that now is the time. My strategy is put buy orders in for $20 below the morning market price (eastern standard time) before leaving the house each day while this current trend continues and then check in each evening for the gossip before deciding whether to leave the buy orders standing overnight. I hope to add to my hodlings at a decent price.
The average bloke in the street in my country doesn't know shit about BTC and I find the average ignorance level of my countrymen is off the chart. Our media stinks, our governments at all levels are obsessed with revenue collection, our banks are assclowns and post record profits every year I can remember.

I love BTC and what it stands for and feel the rubber band is stretched nearly as far it can go.

Welcome Tony!

Sounds like you have a pretty aggressive BTC investment plan.. I believe mine is fairly aggressive too, but i have less than 10% of my quasi-liquid investment assets invested into BTC - though I am NOT opposed to investing more or allowing BTC to grow its way into a higher percentage of my total investment portfolio... ..

Surely, it would  be better to have experienced a past BTC price bubble, then that could also justify having and/or maintaining larger percentage allocations towards BTC.

Hopefully, we each come to our own individualized conclusions about how to allocate our investment into BTC depending on our view of probabilities and also our risk tolerances and financial position, our ages and a variety of other personal  factors... .maybe even including how much time we want to research into the BTC matter or to monitor the  ongoing price fluctuations and market manipulations (whether that monitoring is necessary, may be another question).

A third sounds like a lot but I'm below middle class and the amount I'm hodling/buying reflects this.  The BTC price hasn't gone much below my buy price since I bought so I feel we are truly at the bottom and I haven't felt "the fear" and the desire to panic sell at any stage since I bought in.
I would have been in earlier had I not been broke/working too hard/selling my house.
I'm now a bit of a gypsy, trying not to blow too much of my fiat as I tread water, looking for a new life and waiting for my coins to go to the moon.
None of my peers are interested but that reflects the type of clowns I chose to surround myself over the years. Needless to say, I'm now done with that life.

Welcome Tony from down under!  My daughter is still upset we did not stop by Australia when we made a trip to visit some New Zealand relatives last Summer.  She will have to go on her own sometime but it was quite a bit more money for that little side trip and really it is hard to see much of Australia in a few days. Wink

NZ's a beautiful place, full of lovely idealist types... I love it.... But they won't be getting any of my tourist dollars until we win back the Bledisloe cup.... You probably don't know what that is, but it's the peak of ANZAC (Aussie and Kiwi) rivalry and my country's been on the losing side for far too long now... Their captain is a national hero, he's been knighted and "SIR" Richie Mckaw is also a cheat... There, I said it... Come at me Kiwis! Smiley

Welcome, Tony!
It's nice to see bitcoin infiltrating to all social strata. I mean you are the first PM here Smiley

As for your strategy, if I were you and were investing long-time, I wouldn't waste much time trying to buy 4% cheaper. From the other hand, I would try to triple my future fortune by getting 90% in, rather that 30%. (Now, if bitcoin fall to 300$ or to 0$ you would know whom to blame  Grin)

Yep, when you put it that way, it seems obvious but somehow "slowly slowly" feels safer and in these relatively early days,  fiat still feels safer despite the fact it is totally inflationary, backed by bullshit and root of all evil.

And as the leader of the Liberal party, ahhh, I'd just like to say that bit coin is a fad, and agh, unfortunately used by drug dealers and money launderers. It ahh, wouldn't surprise me if it was used to fund terrorism and ahh, as you all know, there are people out there that want to harm Australians.
Ahhh,  That's why today, I am raising Australian's terrorist attack likelihood measure to "highly likely'.    Smiley Smiley

(he actually did say the last bit, the fear monger's are beating their war drums... Ahhh the joys of living under a conservative government.  Sad )

Only amphetamines could be the cause of such madness..... What time is it wherever you are?

My buy order at 525 AUD still stands as there was a $20 rise instead... Thinking I might just buy anyway, things might get exciting on Monday.

I swear this is what I'd like to call "the average bottom".

Amen.

Seconded.

How's this tale for an example of how shit the banking industry is in my country, especially regarding BTC:

Earlier on I mentioned that a good friend of mine wants to buy around 10 BTC. He's new to the party but smart enough to see the potential. Anyway, he can't be bothered jumping through all the hoops to get an account with an exchange as it takes weeks for full access and it's a pain in the ar$e.
I thought I'd just buy them for him and send them to his wallet. So I gave him the Bpay number of my exchange account to deposit his fiat.
He sent it through and has now had his bank account frozen for what is a "suspected fraudulent transaction"!

1: It's only $5000
2: It was paid through a legitimate channel.
3: WTF??

The masses are stupid and haven't even began to grasp the concept of BTC, let alone understand why decentralising is fundamental to our condition. Let alone understand the potential of this beautiful concept and how it can change the world for the better.
It is ahead of it's time, which simply means the masses won't get it for a while yet.
So patience please my fellow futurists, even shroomskit "gets" the concept..... So pat yourselves on the back for being so clever and do some fucking mediation. Be patient and realise your place in society. The masses DONT GET IT YET. OK?

Shroomskit, I may be new around here but I've read thousands of pages of your tripe in total, I have no doubt.
Why haven't I ignored you and notlambchop yet?

Yes, most likely. Best case scenario is that it stagnates around $280 before continuing down again. There is still no positive momentum for consumer adoption, and too many scams and fraud that are keeping people far, far away.

Free advice for the bulltards: Admit defeat and sell your holdings. You will sleep much easier once you relieve yourself of the torture of riding a speculative bubble down, and you can at least take a lesson from this to invest in real, profit bearing assets in the future and not "get rich quick" magic beans.

How does it feel being a sheep?

Now that's worth quoting. Thank you for being voice of much reason in this sea of trolls.

What are they gonna do with their lives if Bitcoin really does die?... Oh yeah, it can't. It's too late and it's ALWAYS gonna be worth SOMETHING.
They know it, we know it.
WE have an ignore button which when pressed, makes out time here more bearable.
THEY have an ignore button that will never press. They can't. They need their audience in order to exist at all.

So look at it like this, we have a button and they don't.... and I pity dem fools.

I'm Hodling 40 BTC and have cash on the exchange for more. My lack of liquidity in the early days meant I couldn't get in until $400. It's a lot of money for me.
So I am DOWN...... those of you who have managed to dodge my ignore button,  troll away,  and revel in the sensation you feel as you rub my honest face in my losses.
I'm happy I'm not on of you. The trolls that is,, even though the simple joy it brings you all must be satisfying, I cannot be that simple. It's both a blessing and a curse. Part of me does wish I could feel satisfied with such easy and cheap thrills but I can never go there.

Bitcoin isn't going anywhere. Thats the truth.

ron paul makes a good point why bitcoin would not be a good replacement for the failing 'in god we trust' to print and manipulate dollar, he says: "On reason Greece has been forced to seek bailouts from its EU partners is that Greece ceded control over its currency when it joined the European Union." http://ronpaulinstitute.org/archives/featured-articles/2015/july/12/greece-today-america-tomorrow/

bitcoin would be just like the euro.. it would not work. only a metals backed currency will work as a replacement for the broken dollar 'interest to infinity' debt slavery system.

here is a scenario that bitcoiners could possibly face.. as the dollar is about to be replace during the "big block of cheese day" when all the cheese is turned into cheesecakes the cheesecakes will be worth less in the new currency. it will be the same for bitcoin because bitcoins will be priced in dollars but dollars will be worth less in the new currency. therefore bitcoins will receive the same haircut as those people who have their cheese turned into cheesecakes.

i still own a lot of bitcoins and i do not believe it will just die... but i no longer believe bitcoins is going to suddenly become some worldwide reserve currency and we are all suddenly going to be buying boats.. the state of Texas is building a gold depository, and not a bitcoin depository... they are demanding their gold from the fed. we will be able to trade metals for bitcoin and vice versa i am sure, but it will be metals that have the huge value more than bitcoin.
The question is: will they get it?

Bitcoin is not some magical fairy dust, but at it's core it is extremely disruptive and will change a lot of things we can't even fathom yet. I wouldn't listen to too many old-school thinkers on this topic, they just don't have the foresight to see what bitcoin means. Plus they mostly also have vested interests in the current system.

It's been said sooo many times before: ZOOM OUT!

Right Fucken on.  Zoomle out and hodle
