Nothing to add...
I can buy 30% less smack now than I could last week. Bloody ridiculous
Silly me, I spent some BTC at newegg.... BTC is only used to buy drugs? I must have missed the boat on this one...
Problem: theres no point in that. Bitcoin is less secure and harder to use..
I'm a long time lurker of this thread, but I feel like this overlooks the idea that hiding your identity isn't just for buying drugs.
Almost yearly it seems you hear of some corporation being hacked, and thousands of peoples identity and credit card information is then compromised. Why should these corporations have such access to all my personal info before I can buy something online?
Really all they should need is money, and an address to send something to.
I would agree that bitcoin is currently less secure and harder to use
for the average person which is currently a dilemma, likely to be improved. But if one understands how to manage their own wealth (ideally PC security), and take the time to learn how Bitcoin operates, they will see there is so much more to bitcoin then simply buying drugs anonymously, but I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir

Everyone too busy chewing their finger nails off?

Its hilarious how quiet this thread goes when the price is rising compared to when it falls $10. Just trolls left = confirmed.
10,000 pages ago there actually were interesting posts where people were really analyzing TA and tossing ideas around. Now the best we have is TL;DR walls of text from concern trolls. Lately they've been coming for /r/bitcoinmarkets too.
It's pretty bad. I'm not going to post any TA unless newbie jail is brought back. This is the most popular thread on the forum and quality posts get shit on day in and day out from these shills with nothing to contribute.
I don't think the newbie jail will change much. These are economically motivated posters who are being allowed to deliberately deface the forum and discredit bitcoin in any way possible. They state openly they want to destroy bitcoin and then proceed to do everything in their (limited) power to bring that about. Posters that have previously been banned from the forum (Atlas and Goat spring to mind) were orders of magnitude less offensive (I found both quite entertaining and interesting tbh).
These guys are just cretins who have zero to contribute, their 'criticisms' are the usual baseless lies, FUD and misinformation that have been thoroughly refuted here over 4 years ago, yet all they do is repeat the same ad nauseum (a tool of propaganda). I've seen exactly the same modus operandi on other investing sites, which apparently bitcointalk has become in parts, and they will destroy this forum if they are allowed to run amok as they have been so far. They should have been banned long ago ... theymos and mods need to grow a backbone and realise what is happening, and soon.
If people spend such time and energy to discredit and disrupt bitcoin in any way possible, then you know bitcoin's working

Major advancements are often met with revulsion when the threaten to disrupt the norm, hence why guys like Galileo were threatened with their lives.

it begs to be quoted!
c'mon btc do something!
You know bitcoin has stability issues when everyone in here is bored because the price has only been fluctuating 3-4% in the last 1.5 days lol.
How could I ever return to a non-volatile market :/

no the moment of truth is now...
no wait....
...NOW
i say that because we are in what looks like an uptrend inside of a downtrend.
We're actually in a very small 2 day downtrend, inside of a larger 2 month uptrend, inside of a longer year long downtrend within a very long half decade uptrend by the looks of it!

just another dead cat bounce
Is this cat made of rubber?
Seriously , cats do not even really bounce.
Chuck one off the top of a skyscraper and see what happens.
Splat.
Actually,
The terminal velocity of a falling cat is often non-lethal.
Real live data even suggests cats falling off the 7th floor or above will have less injuries compared to 6th floor or below:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat_righting_reflex#Terminal_velocity Yeah,well actually........
That only works up to a certain height...
Because terminal velocity just keeps on increasing with height

lol
I want some HARD DATA with regard to the correlation between cat height and survival rate.
Lets get to work bitcoiners, we know what we have to do.. in the name of science

I haven't been active on this forum in awhile, but I almost assumed with the failure of BitcoinXT this was past us, but it appears to have to increased. Haven't even decided which option is best, but I don't own a large mining farm or an exchange, so what does my decision even matter if it'll be made for me lol..
Hopefully bitcoin (which ever one the consensus agrees to) can swiftly move forward, and the developers of the disregarded platforms can concede without causing a ruckus and further damage our credibility.
Edit:
has anyone noticed that you cant make new btc addresses on exchanges now!, bittrex and polo dont allow it anymore, its one address per account ( with id on polo )
hmm i wonder why??
On Bittrex this appears to be the case for all coins, I can only have one Litecoin or Dash address as well. I can only assume this is so they don't have to manage and keep track of thousands of addresses, but does raise a question of decreasing anonymity. Not sure the reason.

Even though I have been here long enough to not get too excited with a quick price rise, it is nice to see Bitcoin up when the World economy is dipping down.
Hows cashing out of bitcoin working for you today Mike Hearn? hehe

He's still comfortably up if he converted to fiat, and if he switched to XMR, ETH, DASH he's up considerably more. I'd wait if I were you with comments like this until they make sense.
Eh that's fair, I get a little ahead of myself sometimes, especially after reading all the negative publicity lately lol. Been watching Dash and Eth investments up aswell

Finex is such bs, watch their "network outage" suddenly go away if the price was to pump.
They are facing the problem with 39M in leveraged longs facing liquidations and the chain reaction that may cause, they have no idea how to deal with it.
Finex issues started at 740 now 688

It's alright, they're pumping the price back up before they go back online

Now that i think about it, there are really new people want to in. We are just so used to all the "fake good news", we can not fathom the possibility, that there are really a new wave of users/speculators. Two of my friends asked me this week how to buy btc, even though i was telling about it for alas 2 years by now. Weird. Is there some MSM article/policy change i've missed?
I know there was one MSM article translated here in my country which mentioned bitcoin as a "independent safe heaven asset", but still.
That's funny because I've been telling many people in my life for the last 2-3 years about btc, but not many people were very interested to buy any when they were sub ~300usd for a full year ("I think I'll wait awhile" was a common response), but now I've had some of those same people ask if they could purchase some from me or where to purchase some haha. I'm assuming there are a lot of people who have become aware of bitcoin since the last bubble but have basically brushed it off, and once activity picks up those people will become aware again and want to know more.

i can not connect here half hour .. wtf
This has been happening to me (and others from what I hear) all day.

move btc to china -> sell -> get fiat -> and then?
its hard to get fiat out of china, thats why arbitrage doesnt work well. most likely you need connection to get fiat out.
Ah, makes sense. I always overlook fiat problems ha. Still a wild price difference

till a wild price difference
yeah, but arbitrage is always a percentage-value and percentage wise we are basically at 10%. i guess thats pretty normal for stamp-china, its just that these days 10% is much more than when we traded at $600
True, I'm thinking breaking an ATH on BTCChina, Huobi and Okcoin helped push the value a little higher at a quicker pace as well. Bitstamp looks a little confused though....or more level headed haha

This can be the beginning of a mega rally once we are past the scaling drama and FUD. And still today the bitcoin price is amazing.
Considering I'm unsatisfied with the price around or below 900, yet in 2015 was very happy with a price pushing 300, it definitely feels as though we've come a long way. I'm pretty positive the future is bright.

Somehow I think people who dont speak english very well are being taken advantage of here, its hardly a positive for the industry overall. The exchange should put up a warning to people and in a few different languages. Thats the only way to explain it, a hundred or so clueless people thinking its a genuine 'new' alternative and buying some of the limited supply?
People are being taken advantage of but I think it goes beyond understanding english. People new to alt coins think they have just stumbled upon the next bitcoin and gladly buy without doing previous research, time and time again. There are those who just like to gamble, but there are also many people who may lack the ability to think rationally and fall for traps. But that's how it works I guess, one persons loss is another persons gain.

A bigger problem though is transaction clearing time, I just moved a bit to buy some equipment before end of year (tax deductible and I need this stuff) and it still hasn't confirmed.
If this keeps up I may have to use Litecoin.
Mempool is growing bigtime. Make sure to include a good fee for quick confirmation.
https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#24hI have 2 fairly large transactions totally stuck - even though I put them through as 'fast' by believing my BTC Core wallet's advice.
Nothing confirmed for hours - what fees actually WORK right now - anyone recommend a site to suggest accurate fee requirements?
Feeling very stupid...
I use
https://bitcoinfees.earn.com/Looks like it's a heafty fee to get the job done quick

we have new ATH here
Best transaction FEE is
1005 Satoshis/byte | 0.01005 BTC/KB
for 1 kb lol, it is $ 160 fee.
Remember the days when Bitcoin had cheaper fees then visa and western union? I think that used to be a big selling point, the idea of banking for the unbanked or something like that... lol

Well this is a pleasant surprise. I figured we would drop a bit further or at least grind below 10k for awhile, but of course I should know by now that my optimistic or pessimistic outlook on the price will usually result in BTC doing the opposite.
We'll see if this holds us above 10k. G'day for now gents.

I don't post here much anymore, but am a daily reader and long term bitcoin user. Just want to wish you guys the best, whether you own bitcoin, stocks or both; especially if you've invested large amounts in recent times, don't panic and make irrational decisions.
As someone who has seen many a bitcoin crash over the years, as many of you here have, things will definitely get better. I know quite a few here got in early can simply say "discount, buy more!' but for those who bought large amounts at $8000, $10000, $12000 etc and are continuing to hodl, I'm sure this is stressful.
Stay strong my bros, we will have our moment again no doubt in my mind!
