These crazy BTC price fluctuations must be the work of the speculators. I am more and more believing in the story that Chinese exchanges are doing all this on purpose. At least it is not boring in the BTC world!

Why are you people still selling?? Fundamentals have not changed at all! Are the weak hands really shaken that easily? So stupid.
Something fishy is happening last few weeks!!

In 15 days or so the myth that Bitcoin price will ever be higher than 1 year before, no matter when you bought, will be busted.
How are you feeling?
Or do you think we will see another rally in one week?
I think we will see a rally very, very soon! Can feel it in my bones!

Not even near 80$

Are you saying you bought in at 80 and are still hodling???
60% of original investment... yes. Not touching it for next 3 years for sure. Only adding the profits from trading

Hats down for this sir!! I sure wish I did the same thing!!

Zero volume then the large dumps simply means the price is being guided lower to paint the chart, nothing organic about it. I suppose a retest of the low could be on the cards.
Market has to confirm an absolute bottom first. I doubt we go lower than 300 (simply because that is where my buy order is).
I don't know why you get so excited about traders shroomskit. They are a zero sum game, flies chasing the whales, adding depth to the orderbook for real buyers and sellers to use.
Weekends are dumping days like somebody said above. We will retest 300s but after that we are going up.

Erm, I thought that was GAW's paycoin?
No wait, that's supposed to make Bitcoin obsolete.....
GAW's paycoin is in case that Ripple fails, which of course will never happen.
(Of course I have been sarcastic, for anybody that missed it)

Not really.
I've just built up a decent amount of coin & my plan is to sell it at a huge profit in the future, for a sum that makes a difference to my life.
That isn't going to happen with all the day traders buying & selling for 20 dollar profits on each coin.
We are getting nowhere like this.
I refuse to sell unless it makes a positive change to my life, I can't be bothered selling for minor profits.
The day traders, who are competent enough to trade with proper timing, are getting somewhere.
The only people who are getting nowhere, are the fortune seekers, whose competence ends with buying and then just sitting on their ass with high hopes of easy riches.
I personally think that it's kind of funny and sad when people complain about not getting rich without effort or skill.
You nailed it my brother! Majority are those that don't know what a hell are they doing and at the end they just get burned!! But hey, that's life!!

At current difficulty, on 20 nm process and 10 cents per kWh, I'd guess around 200, maybe a little less...
That was an exact number in my head.

You have to sell the correction einstein. Hoping for $60 coins again is just as delusional as dreaming of $10k coins at the top. Works both ways.

I don't buy this Bter hacked shit. It's clearly an inside job.
Guys, I know most of you are not that familiar with exchanges like BTER so let me share my experiences. I know BTER very well. Most of my BTC holdings have come from trading ALTs on BTER, just lately I have started daytrading bitcoin since ALTs have been pressed so hard into the ground and there is no much action there.
BTER worked like a charm until some strange things didn't start happening. First is a NXT hack of about 50 million NXT (4000 BTC at the time) that happened 6 months ago. The situation surrounding the hack, negotiations, moves that were being drawn after the hack are least to say bizarre. It can completely compare to the ''my cold wallet got hacked'' from yesterday. But OK, it can happen to anybody we said!
Than there was a BITBAY fiasco 3 months ago. BITBAY was a new breakthrough smart contracts technology by the David Zimbeck's blackcoin DEV and the others. IPO was held by BTER. Coin was literally dumped. Many people lost money. Some days after Skype transcripts came out to show that Lin, owner of BTER was heavily involved into this scam.
Now this raised many red flags in the community, why would a reputable exchange be doing this kind of crap. Everybody that was doing business on BTER after this event, were scared and in a sense BTER was a wreck waiting to happen. Every time I deposited coins after this to BTER was just to buy and GTFO. Of course, this too was sometimes day or two long in order for orders to go through. On Friday, a night before alleged hack, I withdrew my last 2 BTC from BTER since the order was standing there for too long, guess I was lucky.
Conclusion: All of us in ALT community was suspecting that BTER was on fractional reserves since the BITBAY fiasco. This is probably what happened. Two days ago he realized that this won't last much longer, he moved the funds and said how he was hacked! If you are asking me, yes, this was an inside job!

I withdrew all my coins there after the BitBay scandal. It seems sometimes we get paid when we stop working with the scammers.
That was exactly my thought yesterday all day, how I just made myself 2 BTCs, even though I was extremely lucky!

you can't fight chinese database coin dumpers. they run fractional reserve exchanges and can dump ten thousands of coins on the market over and over again. until this isn't resolved there is no way i'm throwing a single dollar on this scam.
Arbitrage should take care of this. I think the market is manipulated, but it can only be done to a certain degree.
I must agree with this. It's a new market, so manipulation is unavoidable. As we grow, this problem will take care of itself.

So 220 held over night, bit of bullish sentiment?

Could we have found the bottom or are we expected to go any lower today?
Hopefully the dumps have stopped for now, I did pick up a few cheap coins yesterday though, it'd be rare for me to buy at the very bottom though lol.
What does everybody think, 220 a strong resistant bottom or can we go even lower?
I really don't know what to think at the moment. I am very confused. It can go either way!

There could be a wave of contagion if Greece exits the eurozone. I'm just watching the news & Greeks are only allowed to take out 60 euro a day. This kind of shit wouldn't happen with
BTC. Selfishly the absolute best scenario for us is a collapse of multiple countries in the eurozone.
I initially thought all of this wouldn't effect
BTC but now I'm starting to think the worse this gets we could really prosper. We are innovators people, I'm not going to predict anything yet but this is certainly getting interesting

Greece is just a beginning. The balloon is about to burst. After Greece there will be Italy, Spain, USA and the rest. The world financial system is a big joke unfortunately, or fortunately for BTC.

how can greeks buy bitcoin if there banking services are halted?
They can't! For me Greeks are irrelevant here. Much more relevant thing for bitcoin in my opinion is that the world sees how your money can just vanish from one modern society in the 21st century. I am sure the buys last few days are coming from people realizing this.

Post 11757019 (copy this link) (by Mickeyb) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_14.19h):
if there is some a big move into bitcoin in greece, say this time next year 10% of greek pop uses bitcoin and its accepted everywhere in greece we could very well see 32,000$ in less than 2 years. 10% of greece's pop is ~1 million poeple, assuming these 1million poeple hodl a 500$ balances in bitcoin we're looking at half a billion dollars pumped into bitcoin, but it won't stop there, having a real world economy use bitcoin is going to improve investor confidence, and i could easily see 10-20billion get pumped into bitcoin as a result, but it won't stop there, economies will crash around the world one by one, and seeing how greeks all got rich off of using bitcoin, they will all want to do the same thing, the decentralization of world domination is well under way! but it won't stop there aliens will come down from the heavens and buy bitcoin.
I sure hope so!

First the Cypress pump now the Grease pump. Is anyone else starting to feel as though Bitcoin is being manipulated to seem like it's responding to current events? We all know the Greeks weren't actually buying. Right?
I don't think anyone believes that Greeks were buying, but rather people elsewhere who see the Greeks with their capital frozen and unable to convert it to other forms or move it out if the country. Greece isn't the only country with serious economic woes, just the worst case among "developed" nations.
This was probably the case with Cyprus too. One can't help but wonder how many Greeks were buying bitcoins in early 2013 during the Cypriot crisis. Those who did were the smart ones.
Of course, a lot of the recent buying may have simply been spurred by the media flurry around the association by some of Bitcoin and Grexit.
I too bet that the number of other people around the world who started wondering what if the Greek scenario happens to them is by far bigger than Greeks who were buying Bitcoins. Media, of course is just looking for flashy headlines.

Look at 4 hour chart. We gonna moon
In this decade?
BTC's price movement upward, been so slow over the past 6 months, that it causes many to believe that such upward price movement is going to continue to be slow, maybe even another 6 months. In other words, maybe we will be lucky to see $400 within the next 6 months?
Well I taught that slow growth is always better than fast growth. This is something that Bitcoin needs nevertheless, and not crazy pops and crazy drops the other way.
Yes it is bad for day trading but it is what it is!

btc is not for small purchases it's for big ones

Which makes it a bit useless in a daily use... Which is a shame :-/
Well you can use Bitcoin credit cards for daily transactions, but factually that would be using fiat. There is always an option of a faster side-chain

Post 15659979 (copy this link) (by Mickeyb) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_14.55h):
We're down 19.5% from the $789 top, half a percent from a bear market, and still $500 down from the ATH two and a half years ago. I blame the delayed recovery on Core and the lack of on chain scaling.
ATH was phony GOX price point. Probably would never have made it half that far with a real market. As for current 789 top. You are in a healthy correction in a perpetually growing valuation.
Right now with the halving Bitcoin is in new price discovery mode. I wouldn't be surprised that this current triangle resolves down instead of up. Probably needs to go sub $600 to kick off next big leg up.
Block size is not a concern for BTC because BTC is not a transaction type of currency, it is a store of value currency. Nobody cares if it takes 10 minutes to transact in bitcoin because that has been how long it has taken for confirmation since inception. And nobody that is waiting 10 minutes is buying a cup of coffee.
What is a concern is competition. I think there is a 50% chance that Bitcoin is replaced within a year with a higher valuation currency. Bitcoin is currently one alt-bubble away from being lapped... once that happens chaos will ensue because there will be just too many choices competing for crytpo dollars.
Post of the week.
