On preev.com , it calculates the USD price by taking prices from LBC, Bitfinex , BTC-E and Bitstamp.
Someone is manipulating the price a lot in one of those exchanges, it just went up to 259.7 and then back to 254.7 now.

Someone is manipulating the price a lot in one of those exchanges, it just went up to 259.7 and then back to 254.7 now.
Last time I looked at preev it was the same - but I'm fairly certain it's due to LBC's wild swings (due to an exciting mix of person-to-person and remote trades, and the premium P2P trades command).
Think so, just saw that LBC price shows that BTC price is $300.1 lol. But still we are getting to that 260 milestone.

Imagine that last week the price on BitStamp was $242 and on BTC-e it was $240.
Your plan: Sell 10 bitcoins on BitStamp, transfer money to BTC-e and buy bitcoins at $240.
You sell your 10 bitcoins and have $2420. You withdraw your dollars to your bank (takes 3 days). You send your dollars through the crazy hoops you have to jump through for BTC-e to get your money on there losing $40 in fees.
Finally today you have $2380 on BTC-e and buy bitcoins at $258/BTC.
You now have 9.2 bitcoins.
Profit?
Well I am not that experienced in trading, just wanted to know if such thing maybe possible. Maybe you could do it by arbitraging altcoins I guess.

Man was away for just a day and price has went up to 272, I guess this is what causes most people to check btc price nearly everytime they get on the computer.

just a little correction. Will go up upcoming weeks.
Tell that to the price that is keeping on going down, even as I speak. At 265 right now, I think it is safe to say that it is time for the pump to be over folks.

Kraken with mini crash down to 225€. Short closed and long filled in a second
Bitfinex seems to be the only one at the highest price per btc of 265, BTC-E is down to 260 and bitstamp at 262.5
Edit: 261.7 at bitstamp nowand BTC-E is down to 259.

That was the quickest drop I saw, from $502 to $480
. Price doesn't seem to be stable.
