http://online.wsj.com/articles/wal-mart-plans-to-begin-offering-checking-accounts-1411575699

Quote
Wal-Mart Stores Inc. plans to begin offering checking accounts by the end of next month that doesn't charge overdraft fees, in contrast to the independent banks currently housed within the retail giant.

The world's largest retailer and partner Green Dot Corp. are planning a national rollout of the checking account service that will be called GoBank. Green Dot, through its Green Dot Bank, is big provider of prepaid debit cards—including Wal-Mart's.

In addition to touting lower costs, the GoBank mobile checking service will provide access for customers that may not typically have access to banks. GoBank won't use credit scores in determining eligibility, but it instead plans to use its own proprietary underwriting methods to allow just about any customer that passes ID verification to open an account.

The accounts won't have a minimum balance requirement or overdraft fees. A monthly membership fee of $8.95 will be waived for qualified customers with direct deposits of at least $500 a month. The accounts will include mobile features such as the ability to instantly send money via email or texting and come with a linked MasterCard Inc. debit card.

Green Dot shares got a boost from the news, rising as much as 15% Wednesday.

Meanwhile, customers of independent banks located within Wal-Mart's retail outlets are among America's highest payers of bank fees—a large chunk of which come from overdraft charges. Some of the leading banks at Wal-Mart also pitch accounts to people who otherwise might not have access to banks, including those with bad credit histories.

Several years ago, Wal-Mart itself had aimed to get into the banking business. The retailer dropped a bid for its own banking charter in 2007.

Game over, bitcoin is useless now.
Anyone who thinks bitcoin is useless now, they are more than welcome to give me their bitcoins.

If you think current value is under then buy as much as possible and you will get good return.

Somebody check Satoshi's wallets! Shocked

Not Satoshi's, more like Hal Finney's.

Everybody is missing the obvious. The coins being sold are Hal's.
He was the first to receive coins from Satoshi.
He probably had 500,000 maybe more.
He started cashing in June 1.
His family is still cashing in coins but it will end soon.

I thought he sold everything awhile ago to pay for his medical care, I remember a big post thing about it....

I don't think, who believe in Bitcoin never sell all his coin. Now he is no more so may be his family selling coins.

BTC price is so slow now, I just want it to skyrock. I would be happy even if the price went to $1k by the end of the year.

This week really boring, no action at all, weekdays movement like weekends movement of 5-10 Usd movements.

The only reason why BTC will grow and increase in price is Anonymity. Each and everyday people are tired of showing ids and passports to banks to send money to someone or receive. With BTC its all cool and your anonymous what more is needed? BTC Can grow a lot more in developed countries with high tax rate and strict control. As people want to live free not in a cage. One of the reason Sweden loves bitcoin is this.

There are way better alt coins for that.

It does not have to be 100% privacy. It can just be something that is similar to cash: payment is visible for the receiver, but the identity of the payee is not necessarily known to the rest of the world (e.g., stored in a central system with access for government officials).

Yeah, there are better coins for that.
Bitcoin is just an outdated pump and dump coin.

There are surely better coins. but not accepted by community.
So there is very low chances other crypto coin will survive.

Even LTC people loosing interest.
