As Fatman told me, we are in the transational phase right now and I agree with him.
Just wait tell we pass this phase, all the bitcoin-releated projects gets fully functioning and pionnering.
I agree

And in this transitional phase price can do pretty much whatever the fuck it wants , as long as it complies with the unspoken rules of whale-dick fights
I agree as well

Lets just be optimistic.
I know the ride is extremely tough as we will not have a middle ground, either zero or hero.
As gentlemand told me, in 10 years, either people will call us idiots or heroes, but 99% we will be SUPERHEROS.
I don't think they will either call us idiots or heroes in 10 years, they will either call us idiots or smart arses. Everyone gets jealous and hates smart arses who have more money than them.

Bitfinex 6500 coins to $280, 20,000+ coins to $230
Greece, do what you got to do!
Market maker is jumping from one extreme to another... Now we can see that most of the trades on finex is from one guy/entity.
I felt the ripple market pump last Christmas was totally fixed by one person or group and I was glad to get back to bitcoin. Since this latest manipulator started fixing the bitcoin market I feel it's got almost as bad as the ripple market. Every major move seems to depend on what the manipulator decides.

I don't know what it's going to do but I noticed big moves often happen at the end of the weekend. People probably make up their minds what to do before they have to go to work on Monday. We might get a big move one way or the other on Sunday night or early Monday morning.

Will it go up from this price on Saturday/Sunday or down?
... bank-run or crash of the greek bank on MONDAY.
Russia might bail them out according to Yahoo news. The EU would hate that and the threat of Russia helping might force it to give Greece some more leeway.
Russia's top officials gave mixed messages over whether the country would be prepared to give financial support to Greece as Europe prepares for Greece to default on its loans.
........ Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich who said that his country would look at the "question" of providing money in order to protect investment projects and trade.
........
Mr Tsipras said in St Petersburg that Russia was "one of the most important partners for us".
Such an alliance would alarm EU leaders, who may see it as undermining solidarity at a time when they are trying to maintain pressure on the Kremlin over the conflict in Ukraine.

Satoshi talked about smallish consumer transactions like vending machines and porn. Did he fall into a math hole??

Can you quote a Satoshi post where he talks about porn?
Most of his posts were about technical things, and I didn't think he would talk about anything else. I haven't read all his posts, but enough of them to know the technical talk in them goes way over my head.

It looks like the 430$ conspiracy is here to stay. My bitcoin price ticker on the phone is set on 430$ and I can't stand it anymore, it comes and goes regularly and also I can't read what is happening anymore.
The holidays confused me I guess
True, stagning price is good for reliability of btc but I just can't stand it anymore xD
I can't believe it, I last looked at this thread ten hours ago and there's been almost no posts since then apart from chart buddy. If it stays at 430 for the rest of the year both this forum and bitcoin are finished. A stable price will make everyone give up on bitcoin due to boredom. Stagnating's not good for bitcoin, it's bad for it.

From this levels, only sell btc
You giving advices, newbie?
If you think about it, BTC already had a bit more than a 50% price correction, and currently bouncing around the 35% to 45% territory.
Seems like a good range to buy, rather than sell, but depends how many BTC you already have.
I don't have any yet, but I will buy at a price 6700$. Good luck
If you speak the truth, then it seems that you do not have too much positive view about bitcoin, so even if you do end up being able to buy BTC at $6700, it does not seem too likely that you will hold your BTC for very long. You do not seem to have much confidence in bitcoin, so good luck to yourself with those kinds of BTC bear views, unless you develop a come to Jesus moment.

I will continue with my buying on the way down system, and if BTC prices go down to $6,700 I will end up buying around $7k, and if they go to $6k, then I will buy there. My orders are already set down to $3k, yet I do not believe my orders at $8k or lower are likely to fill - even though previously, I had asserted that if we break below $10k (a couple weeks ago), then $8k becomes reasonable, and I suppose if we end up breaking below $8k, then $5k to $6k would become reasonable at that point.
Currently, I see nothing wrong with preparing for BTC prices down to $5k or even below that, but it does seem unreasonable to prepare only in that one direction and even not to hold any BTC, currently.

Satoshi who?
Craig Wright
If Craig Wright is Satoshi (or part of that group of three with hal finney and the other guy..both that have passed away) and there is a BTC Trust he can get a hold of worth
Billions on Jan 1st 2020 as he claims...well, he is gonna flush a lot of BTC and watch us burn, for how he sees his treatment by BTC community and the press....
he currently has some folk convinced that he is Satoshi and patenting blockchain and everything else he can try to do (on the assumption he can prove he is satoshi IF the
trust is real and he has access)
only a 1 out of 20 chance IMHO, of this being true....but that is my Bitcoin Boogman Senario...(hell, after Trump became President of the USA...all unlikely things in my mind now are
now possible)
shudder!
Yeah he is definately Satoshi.
Instead of buying a Lambo, he just rents one. Because when you got so much money... why buy when you can rent since it costs more.
Maybe he put all Satoshi's coins in an ethereum smart contract BTC Trust in 2010. He obviously can't access the coins until that ethereum smart contract matures. He can buy a lambo collection after that.

Apology accepted. All good.
I don't get it, how can they move a mobile phone number? Where I live the number is locked to the sim card. If you want to move your number to another phone you would have to physically move the sim card to that phone. There is no other way.
In most of the world it's possible to transfer a phone number to a different sim card. There's a few scams that use the technique, and most people aren't aware of them
https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/technology/phone-number-porting-scam-grows-in-australia-with-thousands-of-dollars-stolen-from-victims/news-story/6dc83c76543b5888b12a10790b9ee209Gold Coast businesswoman Cynthia Dammerer discovered she had been targeted by criminals after her mobile phone mysteriously went out of service after 9pm one night.
While she initially thought her phone network was down, she later discovered the fraudsters had also broken into her email account and tried to change her password.
“I called Telstra and they said I had moved my number over to Vodafone and I’d have to go into a store to sort it out,” she said. “I had no idea.”
Ms Dammerer said scammers had moved her phone number to an untraceable Vodafone prepaid account so it could be used to verify bank account transactions, and potentially create new accounts.
“They did it all online,” she said. “They didn’t even have to go into a shop.

Ok I checked here and you can move your phone number to another phone company, but they will send you a new sim card with the number. So no magic online stuff. Would that not be a good way to get rid of the scamming in the rest of the world.
Frankly I'm surprised they allow moving phone numbers to new sims so easily in the majority of the world. It would get rid of those scams if every country used your country's system. I don't understand why they haven't already done it.

CME first contract closes tommorow, so no doubt the tin-foil hat brigade will be out again.
I'll pre-empt them....

Any large volumes over the next 24 hours can be attributed to Wall Street maniulating the price to profit from this contract closing.
I think we can expect a reversal of this movement once the contract has closed.
"Trading terminates at 4:00 p.m. London time on the last Friday of the contract month"
Strap-in or damp squib? I dunno.
How much money has been thrown at the CME first contract? If it's a massive amount the contract closing could = strap-in. If it's a small amount the contract closing could = damp squib.

Might have to register as a business to keep trading at the current levels of volume. Not sure I wanna deal with that shit. Especially the part where I have to give up half the profit. Blah.
I understand you wouldn't like giving an exact figure but.... may I ask if we are talking about millions here or are they complaining over a smaller figure? Any ballpark on what triggered their concerns would help.
Millions over several months in local denomination, so... 200-400k in dollar?
The thing is I only make 4-5% per trade, with the upside that there is zero risk on my end. So it looks like massive amounts are being moved (massive in terms of wage slave numbers that is), but it's really just the same pool of money churning back and forth over and over, which to them looks like huge amounts. It pays the rent and a bit more, but it's really nothing massive in terms of profits.
For sure it doesn't look like a big amount BUT having lots of significant (non-negligible) in/out INTERNATIONAL transfers sounds exactly like a business and not regular personal activity... either that or... money laundering!. I guess their concerns go on that path. Did you register an activity and documented it to the banks beforehand? Probably they just want to cover THEIR own asses (KYC/AML thingy).
Do you really need to uses banks all the time for your "activity"? Couldn't you "cache" a bigger ammount outside of banking (ie, spread over several different exchanges to minimize the risk of catastrophic loss) so that you minimize the amount of banking tx's and triggering of alerts?
One account was specifically made in order to trade bitcoin, which they agreed to beforehand. And the money all goes to kraken, plus a few incoming transactions from people who send fiat after which I send bitcoin. There shouldn't be any problem with any of this, except the size of the amounts - which they didn't care about until just now, because the numbers have been growing.
It's just the volume, nothing else.
This thread might provide some useful information. Some posts in it describe similar account closure experiences to yours. It seems business accounts are needed for big regular transfers.

No problems for me (beyond wire routing problems that work for some accounts, but not for others). I have a long established history with my financial institutions.
Were you already fairly rich before cashing out bitcoins? Were your banks used to getting huge deposits made to your accounts before the bitcoin stuff started?

My banks were used to seeing large deposits and transfers. Yes. Not sure what qualifies as "fairly rich before".
That million dollars in your exchange account counts as fairly rich to me.
If I tried depositing that much to my bank the cashiers would probably put their hands in the air, while the backroom staff would be ringing the police.

Also, if your profile age is your real age, that seems about the perfect age to retire. If you're much older and retire, it's hardly different from regular retiring, if you're much younger, it somehow feels wrong to me, like you're dropping out too early.
Anecdotally, in my 30s and financially independent on a fraction of the coins Bob has. Not everyone is suited to a life of labor.
Maybe that's why your bank's giving you shit about huge deposits, but bobLawblaw's had no complaints whatsoever from his bank for bigger deposits.
Your bank thinks you are too young to be financially independent. Only old people are allowed that freedom.

http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/148046-im-less-than-impressed-with-my-pelikan-alexandria/I recently purchased a Pelikan Alexandria. It's my first Pelikan. I've got about 20 Parker fountain pens along with some Mont Blanc pens and some Cross fountain pens. Anyway, the Alexandria is also my first bottled ink pen. Heretofore, I've used ink cartridges in my pens. The Alexandria has not impressed me so far. Even though I purchased a fine replacement nib from Pelikan for it, it puts entirely too much ink on the paper even though I use a light touch when writing. In addition, I have to shake it to get the ink flow started every time I use it. In addition, I can't seem to get the pen to draw any ink into the chamber. I've been filling it myself with an eye dropper by removing the nib.

1% in 100 years is a pretty big number IF it continues, but why won't it?
Because in a few years we will be eating meat grown in a laboratory. We won't need huge numbers of cows, and the farm land they needed can return to the wild.
http://www.nytimes.com/2013/08/06/science/a-lab-grown-burger-gets-a-taste-test.htmlA hamburger made from cow muscle grown in a laboratory was fried, served and eaten in London on Monday in an odd demonstration of one view of the future of food.
Recent studies have shown that producing cultured meat in factories could greatly reduce water, land and energy use, and emissions of methane and other greenhouse gases, compared with conventional meat production using livestock.

I wonder what would have happened if he simply purchased close to his daily withdrawal max, then tried to withdraw.
The poor bastard might have pulled it off, lol
Which only leaves one of two conclusions. Either he was being an honest guy and just wanted to provide us all with some lulz. Or he's too much of a moron to exploit and cheat. I'm hoping for the former, but given the average forum user I would probably have to put my money on the latter.
Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

I suspect this dump is caused by Venezuelas president Maduro dumping his BTC for $$$
In case you did not know he is desperate for $$ since his state-owned oil company are now in default on about US$1.7 billion.
Todays 738 million pre-ico sale of his petro coin has given him enough money to begin the bail out that will prevent further economic collapse of his government.
Can you actually buy his petro tokens with bitcoins? I haven't found out how you can buy them yet. Where do you buy them from?

There are new fears arising, like what if your wife wants your bitcoins during a divorce.

It's cheaper to rent a secondhand one. They cost €89-120 an hour in France, but the Chinese are undercutting that with a $45 an hour offer.

Conversely my inner bum is feeling a fair bit prodded at this time, is that normal?
It's completely normal. We all feel like that now bitcoin's dropped back below $10k.

I don't see how that is a doll. Sure, she might have pale skin, and sure she might have a really great figure (maybe a bit much on the tits), but doesn't look like no doll to me.
Yeah she's real. Look at the eyes. Couple veins visible too. But a doll will still look the same in another ten years.
This is what I think of as a doll, the blow up variety.

That particular doll was sent into space attached to a weather balloon.
https://www.rt.com/news/414732-sex-dolls-salmonella-space/An inflatable sex doll was launched into space in 2013. While Missy didn’t make it beyond the stratosphere, footage shows the doll reaching an altitude of 31,090 metres while suspended from a weather balloon.

Once upon a time Stalin held a speech. People clapped. And kept clapping. For 20 minutes. Eventually one of them stopped, and then everyone else stopped.
The first guy disappeared the next day.
When a new inmate arrived at one of Stalin's gulag forced labor camps an old timer asked him how long his sentence was, and what he had done wrong. The new recruit said he got twenty years and hadn't done anything wrong.
The old timer replied, "no you must have done something, you only get ten years for doing nothing wrong".

But I presume they're rather like those chilled crabs you buy in Japanese vending machines. Once they're out of their packaging all bets are off.
I've lived in Japan for a while and I've never come across a chilled crab machine. Where can you find those? Hokkaido?
You have to go to the subway station in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, China to find one. However animal rights activists are trying to get them banned, so they might not be around much longer.

Im scared

bullish or bearish?
You said "down to $6000 by February 1st week before prices return to the original consolidation stage at $14K by March 2nd week". Don't you have faith in the pump to $14K story?
This message came from darkwebforum. Dont know but its possible:
From the 15th January’ 2018, there have been rumors from forums in the dark web about a possibility of a slump, down to $6000 by February 1st week before prices return to the original consolidation stage at $14K by March 2nd week.
On January 5th, when Bitcoin prices were at $17,000, at a dark web forum which can be accessed through any anonymous browser (like Tor), a forum member by the name Cyberjourno, says: “Guys, there are big players in play, big institutional players who want to bring the price down to $7000, I know it seems impossible now but these guys handle the media and know how to control the market. For the coming couple of months, guys, stay safe, don’t be scared. Brace for FUD FUD FUD!”
On Jan 5th there were two other comments on multiple forums in the Russian and South Korean social sites that suggested a bigger market manipulation in play. Interpreted and translated versions of the comments read: “Waiting for US, South Korea, Indian and Thai markets to break negative stories by February, prices to stoop back to $5000. Big market players waiting to invest millions in Bitcoin and smaller crypto counterparts. It’s easy to guess, find the common corporate entity that controls media houses in these countries. Make your connection”

I find it hard to measure strength without one exchange. 10,441 could be a fib level to cap this with 9231 the alternate side.
How do you work out a fib level, and why's 10,441 not definitely a fib level?

What if owners of blacklisted addresses spray satoshis at every address in the blockchain and taint the whole thing? What if they do it quickly before any new rules are in place?
Most people haven't got the technical skills to move the clean bitcoins to a new address, and leave the dirty satoshis in the old address. They will just spend the dirty satoshis mixed to together with the clean ones.
https://www.coindesk.com/goodbye-fungibility-ofacs-bitcoin-blacklist-remake-crypto/Joe Ciccolo is the president of BitAML, Inc., a compliance service provider. Andrew Hinkes is an adjunct professor at the NYU Stern School of Business and NYU School of Law.
This article is not intended to provide, and should not be taken as, legal advice.
Could this backfire? What's the doomsday scenario?
Sure. Operators of listed digital currency addresses could spray satoshis at any address they can find and essentially "taint" the entire blockchain.
After listing addresses and implementing appropriate tracking software, OFAC may find that all addresses are two or three transactions away from a listed address, and the tool becomes essentially worthless.

I'm going to start a conference called "Steve Jobs' Vision". It's going to be all about how Apple has lost it's way, and the NeXT computer was the perfect desktop computer that people should have been using all along. I'll manufacture about 5 new NeXT computers, and take pre-orders for the rest.
I'm sure Apple enthusiasts will all trash their Macbooks and iPhones and turn out for my conference by the thousands. Because "hur dur mah vision".

They will soon be trashing their Macbooks and iPhones anyway because of the Spectre and Meltdown chip flaws. The patches are crap and as soon as new chips are available most old Macbooks and iPhones are getting trashed, or sold for peanuts on ebay.
