It took me more than a year of constant (weekly) highly intelligent exposure to bitcoin, before I bought any. It took an additional year and more, before I allocated a significant % of my holdings to it. I even knew of Bitcoin before Mt.Gox opened, and that was purely theoretical and did not interest me.

So expect a large percent of the ones who heard in early 2013, to buy in with significant money in 2015-2016. Unless they are slower to understand than I was, in which case it takes even longer.

It will be to late.

What I see is a very rapid growth. Today is only 5th of May, after all. I'd say hundreds of people understand it in May, and millions in June. In July it is too late to buy bitcoins for investment probably.

You are seriously one of the best trolls i've seen in a long time.

Your time seems to extend all the way back to April 08, 2013, 03:13:50 PM.

I was there when it was still not possible to buy from Mt.Gox with more than $1000 per day without influencing the price by 10%+, for which reason I regarded it as a childrens' playground (and later paid 500kEUR+ for my mistake)

Date Registered:   07 October 2012, 20:52:21

 isn't that far back either...

because lots of us have that idea, it will never crash to the levels  you wish - unless bitcoin fundamentals
are done with.

Rpitiela Rpitiela Rpitiela! I summon you! Your breakout is here, now is the time to buy!  Grin

Try to spell my name correctly, then Smiley

Yes it appears I sold like a sucker. Just at the wrong time. I have also bought always the wrong time (even my initial buy was a week before a 33% drop in 2011). Now I sitting on about $70k in Mt.Gox. Good that I only sold a portion, and not even a large one. Never sell out.

I don't think we see $100 ever again.

Now where have I seen that before........

$900 to $453 is a healthy correction?

Ask anyone in investments if a 50% crash in price is healthy. Good for business.

SMH only in Bitcoin.......

Was never really 900 ( mtgox price doesnt count...) - so 755 to 380...  but that was for a very short time (the top and the bottom)
If you didnt sell you didnt lose.  At around 500 now it's a "reasonable" drop.

I wanted to start with an insult but that serves zero purpose..crash in april.. from 266 to 50 will say.. = .188 = it shrunk too 18.8% of its value. The recent correction this week from 900 to 414 = .46 = it shrunk by 46% or half its value.. The april crash would have been much larger in impact on peoples holdings.
I realize I am basing this on opinion and some reading.. but.. you invest 10k in april you lost 82% of what you invested that same 10k last week you only lost 44%.

But even if you have the worse luck - bought at the top of the previous  bubble - 266$ and sold a the bottom of this one -414$  -  you are up 56%  !

It's hard to believe I have something in common with climate science deniers.
I was converted over to Bitcoin and Austrian economic precisely because of my fundamental understand in environmental sustainability.

Understanding of Environmental Science is the catalyst that accelerates Bitcoin adoption to the masses.

I love that: "science" "deniers" - that's two appeals to authority in a single term. The climate change crowd is the most environmentally destructive out there. To care about carbon emissions over things that actually matter, like pollution, is anti-environmental alarmism. It's just an excuse for a global tax. I'm glad that whole charade is winding down, after changing its marketing from "global warming" to "climate change" after the earth refused to warm as commanded. It was one of the lamest spectacles I've seen.

and now there is even talk of a possible mini ace-age as well....

That's good for bitcoin then Smiley I'm just wandering why keiser is a follower of a dumping program.

To make fast money? Is there any other reason to buy and advertize Quarkcoin?
The guy probably has many many thousands of bitcoins worth millions of dollars.
Why pump and dump an altcoin and maybe look stupid ( yeah I know' it's max keiser... but still)

This hearing means nothing...

I'm not seeing how some of you are saying the Chair is pro-bitcoin... the dude obviously wants to regulate it somehow, he just doesn't know how yet. He claimed that stopping a few money launderers was more important than technological innovation for society. Really? This guy is an idiot.

Yup- he is all for ( it seemed) to rattle the banks a bit but not at the expense of the slight possibility of  -god forbid- money laundering.

Ok let's speculate.  How low could we go on a Gox collapse?

Referencing Oda's earlier point about the SR bust...let's remember that before it happened the sage PoV was that it would massively impact the market.  The reality, after it happened, was the price was back on track in under a week.

The market(s) may actually respond positively to la vie sans Gox.

Complete agreement with your last line. Medium /long term it would likely be bullish, but it might throw us into  a short period of selling frenzy, if it happens.

The press would come out and say : " 1st the CEO of bitcoin is arrested and now bitcoin collapsed!"

So yeah- at least a short term impact for sure.

I don't understand why all these people just don't get it over with and mass dump already? What are they waiting for? They won't let the price go up and also no amount of good news is enough to make it rise either. Everyone is waiting to panic sell. Just do it already. Then we can move on. In whatever way.

Did you ever see the Gnu herds in africa before they cross the river?  Nobody wants to be 1st.... the crocs are waiting...

Why are people trading on Gox? You can't withdraw fiat, you can't withdraw bitcoins. All you can do is trade and lose all your funds to fees.

Why not? If you assume there isn't a better chance to get coins or fiat out , why not trade to maximize either one just in case withdraws resume?
If there will be no withdraws then also the fees mean nothing.
