How to get to eventual "LEGENDARY STATUS" without anyone really showing up! (Chart Buddy ----=====> 'soon to be Skynet"

Indeed. To bad he just got very bad quality posts, only <75 characters.
Do you think he would get banned for sig + spam if he joined a signature campaign? He makes 168 posts every week and money from a signature campaign would help to pay for the rent of his server. One of the campaigns might make an exception for his very bad quality posts because he is providing a service.

Anybody think we won't ever see sub-350 again? Adam?

we will see 350 again twice, once on the way down to 333 and one last time on the way up to 500

Remember this post stating we will NEVER go back under 460 after we crossed it?
once we cross 460 we will NEVER go back there again.
How often did I read this

I'm not convinced by any posts saying we can never go below a particular target ever again. Especially when the target is less than $10 below the price. Yes there are extreme cases where it applies like we will NEVER go back under $1, but that's different.

The spreads between different exchanges in the west was getting crazy. It wasn't as crazy as the spread between Asia and west, but it was getting massive. The bots must have cleaned up from it.

Invisible buy wall at 685 on finex.
Should be interesting to see if we pullback at all or hold for more moon after whoever is filling their boots is happy to go up again.
Good call, i noticed that someone was putting up good size walls all the way down during the mini dump. Bid size was thin so that
BTC10k sell should've brought us down to low 600s without those buy walls. Think we got a bull lurking around setting the floor
How do you find out if there's an invisible buy wall on finex if it's invisible on the order books? Can you post a link to wherever you find out about those invisible orders please?

Lets think about it in another way as "Zimmah" did here.
What do you think ?
I agree with the principal of that commentary but in practice the "limited supply" aspect is not quite true because Bitcoin will be levered. Any limited supply asset base is always levered in order to meet liquidity requirements in its derivative markets. If the banks don't do it, the free market will in order to achieve price stability in certain trading sectors.
Despite that, the fact that Bitcoin is an electronic "bearer" token means it is more accessible to the ordinary holder so its easier for people who actually want to hold the base asset to do so.
I have never experienced an all time high rally before, and half the forum members probably joined after the last one. The bullish emotions sweeping through the forum are infectious and could become the biggest driving factor for the price. Zimmah's prediction could be made a reality by those emotions despite any other factors.

that DAO/ETH fuck up completely killed the momentum
When ethereum launched you could see in vitalik's eyes there were going to be fuck ups. I thought they would only affect ethereum, but they seem to have affected bitcoin both positively and negatively. Immediately after the hack it was positive for bitcoin, but the ethereum dead cat bounce afterwards was negative for bitcoin.
its bad because it brings back old and very painful memories for the btc community. woithout this mess we would be talking right now if btc is able to get over 1000 or not, but so? i dont know but the halving will have no immediate effect and a real halving rally wont happen with just a few days left, so that thing is already done.
This screenshot from an automated technical indicator site says it's a strong buy on the week and month scale, so things might not be as bad as they appear. The indicators aren't always correct but it's something to consider.

What the forum needs is the option to restrict posting in moderated topics to an activity level set by the topic starter. This would at least require spam accounts to build up activity first and thus make the ignore button meaningful.
I wonder if Adam would be agreeable to a script that would auto-delete posts from users below a certain post count...
good idea imo!

Looking at his posts put things into perspective for me. Three years ago he was predicting $80 coins. Three years later we will think it's the end of the world if bitcoin crashes back to $8000.

Ive been withdrawing my max limit from poloniex almost every day for the past 1-2 months. I have a ticket that has been sitting for 4 months.
The delay between opening a ticket and getting a reply is probably over five months by now, and it keeps getting longer. It will probably be a year long delay soon unless they hire more support staff.

Seems like quite the coincidence that we hit the ATH around Dec 17th, which is around when the futures market took their first shorting contracts. The first of those contracts close today at 4 PM ET. Not sure how this sort of manipulation continues from here, but it seems obvious that a fair amount of the Dec pump came from traders looking to buy BTC in preparation to dump them and drop the price around - well - today.
I guess I'm not the only one...

You cant price in something that is still uncertain. Plus the effect of an actual exchange failure could be much different and more profound than could possibly be anticipated or traded. All the traders would still be trapped there now artificially holding up the price. Remember gox?
so whats the solution, because if there was another GOX, then all crypto will take a massive hit. cash out everything to fiat and forget the whole thing?
Didn't Gox like have something like 80% plus of the volume? It was before my time, so I am not sure. Guess you could wait until the shit hits the fan and make an exit soon after. Then buy back cheaper after a year.
Either that or you could put a massive short on at a reputable exchange (if you can find one).

All it takes for Tether to become completely worthless is one guy decides to seize the account at TetherBank
Do they even really have bank accounts? I'm really confused on how the Bitfinex/Tether thing even works. Don't understand why Tethers are never destroyed. Aren't there some days when the fiat withdrawals at Bitfinex exceeds the deposits? Very perplexing. Surely people haven't been depositing $100 million per day this week at Finex, with the recent correction. There can't be that many bargain hunters. Especially when none of their customers are supposed to be from the US. Is it a pain to deposit USD into Bitfinex if I am from Norway? I'm clueless.
It's not just bitfinex anymore that uses tether. There is poloniex, bittrex, and maybe more. I have a polo account and am all bitcoin in it, unless I see a quick trade.
Yes, but you cannot deposit fiat into Polo or Bittrex that I am aware of. Could be mistaken. So the Tethers that they have there originated from a different source. I don't think the $100 Million tethers being created daily are going to any other exchange except Bitfinex. Kraken also uses Tethers and lets you deposit fiat. However, I don't think the freshly minted Tethers are going their either.
I have personally moved Tether from Bitfinex to other exchanges. It’s useful during a market panic.
How fast are transfers?

I still trust Litecoin more. At least it's coin creation is based on proof of work and not blind trust like Ripple and Tether. Plus, Litecoin definitely will be implementing lightning and be engaging in atomic swaps. I enjoy the concept of atomic swaps because you can trade coins P2P without relying on a middleman exchange.
Ripple sometimes starts malfunctioning under stress. I remember complaints that a node went offline and the transactions it was processing were frozen until it went back online.
Bitcoin and litecoin don't suffer from that centralised weakness.

Yeah, but most exchanges include the txid so you can easily check if it got confirmed or not so you can easily prove who is fucking it up.
That said... I stopped txing BTC between exchanges since the fee got to a few dollars. I discovered the usefulness of Litecoin and other shitcoins for that and never looked back. Never had a single problem txing anything between exchanges.
The problem is slippage at both ends converting LTC. Especially if LTC is not a trading pair.
Yup. But usually is not BTC what I want to convert to other shitcoins. I dont do unnecesary trades. Also I try to have what I need in every exchange, only having to rebalance very unfrequently. I don-t really care about slippage because it can work both ways.
Most of my txs between exchanges are usually for lending when polo or bitfinex have some shortage of a particular coin and offer a crazy daily rate.
Anyway, LN transfers between exchanges would be an AWESOME addition.
Sometimes even the big exchanges have wallets that go offline after you have sent coins to them during pumps. They only go back online after your coin's price has drastically crashed, and you are left with a huge loss.
I suppose even LN transfers aren't immune to that problem.

Sounds kinda weird to me. The fire power needed for such a crash... Plus, they would be selling at lost on purpose. That would be purely burning XX% of your money just to keep the other %. Unless they bought before the bull run but I doubt it. More like they caused the bullrun.
Maybe they bet long on the futures and bought, then put shorts on after the futures closed and stated dumping. They might be putting very low buy orders in and trying to crash the price enough to fill them. After they reload they can close their shorts at a profit, put longs on again and start pumping the price.
For every coin they dump there's probably ten more sold due to stop loss triggers and panic selling.

Huge sell walls up to $11100 on bitstamp but its being bought into at a steady pace. 1800btc atmo
Remember the bear whale's wall on bearstamp? Suppressing the price with walls doesn't always work.

I don't know if moderators can edit (rather than delete) posts, but it would be nice to go through all of jbreher's contributions - some of which raise valid points and contain factually correct, useful information - and
s/Bitcoin Segwit/Bitcoin/g
s/Bitcoin Cash/BCash/g
with a FTFY note in the end, for correctness and clarity.
No sorry the mods can't do that. I remember serious legal threats on another forum when a mod actually altered someone else's post.

The TERA account is definitely not the real Tera now. They can barely speak English. Real Tera was quite articulate.
I doubt the real Tera would be posting in the booby coin thread like in this October post from the TERA account.
Well, it sounds pretty funny. Although it is clear that no one needs such currency. Although boobs are needed by everyone. This is a dilemma ...

I suspected it would be impossible.
We could insta-quote jbreher, then, for posterity and historical documentation.
The necessary edits could be carried out in the quote by us - simple posters, not the moderator.
The moderators could simple come in for a little cleanup after that - which would not be censorship, since the post would have already been quoted... O:-)
Maybe nasty, OK. But this is supposed to be a
bitcoin forum after all. That sneaky language is a bit sickening.
I'm not certain it's illegal, but the reddit CEO made international headlines for doing it.

The writing style does not seem like Tera..... I suppose that the account may have been sold? She can report that, and maybe admins will freeze usage account? but if they have no way of verifying who is the real Tera, then they might let it keep operating with the new owner... then we might get a publicly displayed battle between Tera and Tera2, perhaps?
Perhaps some DT members would flag the Tera account if admins won't recover it.
There's no negative feedback at all left for it. I expected at least tera's new account would have left some feedback to say it's a hacked account.
