All my computing life I have been taught and taught students how to compute things in the most efficient way.  It turns my stomach seeing that much computing power (and electrical power) wasted.  Tongue

same but then our entire economy is very wasteful http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-05-16/where-worlds-unsold-cars-go-die
I'm sure eventually we'll switch to a better crypto system or energy sources like thorium.

I was impressed by the ZeroHedge link above so I posted it to a group of friends and I got this link as reply: http://jalopnik.com/that-zero-hedge-article-on-unsold-cars-is-bullshit-1578124255

Interesting, it's one of those stories where one isn't inclined to be sceptical as there's not really anything to be gained from making it up. I also can't imagine any agenda behind debunking it (for a change), just a bit odd that someone would bother.

what the hell are bits worth anyways? 1 000 satoshi or something? can someone give me a conversion confirmation here? my google-fu is not so great when I'm dring.
Satoshi is cent. Bit is dollar. That is 100 satoshi.

which I believe is designed so we are left with 2 decimal places to be more compatible with accounting software etc..  makes sense

.00000101
= 1.01 bits.

when we reach a million dollars per bitcoin, 1 bit will equal 1 dollar Smiley  perfect!

There's a lot of evidence that ISIS is just a western creation - seems to be the same 'rebels' from Syria.

Someone from the Daily Mail was recently busted pretending to be an ISIS supporter http://imgur.com/a/hXe7o  (Not Richard Ferrer as he moved on but the IP still resolves to the Daily Mail)

There's been threads here and on reddit regarding that for several days.

strange I missed it then, probably same reason I missed hearing about bitcoin until 2013 despite being into computers for 30 years :/

pretty sure it's due to people waiting for the NY regulation update - we may not care what they say but it may have some affect on price in the short term.

I don't know how to explain this again: THERE WILL BE NO MORE BUBBLES. You have to understand that pushing down the price so many times it's not healthy, and it's just a question of time when it will not raise again. It can't go forever, market will loose its faith in it

No, faith is increased every time bitcoin is dumped then bounces back.

bummer, couldn't find a way to buy from the whale and really don't want to leave fiat in an exchange..  tried circle but it's buggy and the limits too small anyway

pretty annoying, was gonna buy last week but couldn't find any quick easy way to buy in Australia while avoiding the 10% GST, circle's credit card option didn't work either.

Exactly one year ago I had similar story. The only option was bank wire (to MtGox Smiley), it took an extra week, and during the week the price had doubled Sad

same here with Gox, it actually took 14 days to clear and price rose 500% in that time :/

surely TA only works when a decent % trade using the same methodology, I don't think that has ever been the case with btc

is it better to buy back now?

based on my past mistakes, probably not - if you had kept a % to hold for the long term you wouldn't be panic buying or selling, you'd just wait it out.

kinda sucks when you know if you sell it'll bounce straight back to 350 but if you hodl it'll drop to 200..  yes i have that kind of power.
