*raises hand*
I've seen this dozens of times but not sure if I'm understanding it right. Please clarify bull, bear, bull/bear trap, fud, ta, hodl, red candle, green candle, firecracker, sparkler, etc?
Bulls expect the value to go up so hold their investments and ride it up. Bears are more like chicken little, the sky falls every time there's a drop, so they freak out, sell off and doom the thing to hell. Bulls like it when bears panic sell because the rates to buy are way low, due to a flash crash...and then a rally happens when people - the bulls - and whoever else start buying up fast, which increases the price/value and makes everyone's investments worth more at the end but meanwhile bears and bulls like to scare the crap out of each other to see which one caves first?
Is that about close?
Yes? No? Sorta? Thanks!

Yay!! I got something right - I figured ta was probably trend analysis but with all the code words, buzz words and such I wasn't 100%

Bulls lean to long term value and bears lean to immediate gratification is how it seems reading all yalls comments back and forth (funny pics included, the falling bear out of the tree was a good one).
One more - this bubble...is this a good thing, bad thing, no biggie, or ?
Thanks!

sodl oout bulls might start getting nervous soon ... not so much train leaving station but rocket blasts off unexpectedly.
This is where I am and haven't gotten my first btc yet...waiting on the verification. Scared it'll end up at 900 bucks by Monday or Tuesday when they finally hook me up.

Curious about something if anyone here might know...I read somewhere in this forum something about the value of btc being coded in the math, that it can always be known how much it will be worth and how it will increase in value due to the code or whatever and that it's coded to increase exponentially. If that's knowable because of the code itself then why all the speculation?

It could be based on the reward halving, with the assumption that less BTC being created = lower supply = higher price. For that to work though you are assuming that the demand is there. Theres nothing in the code that says "on this day it is worth $x"
Right - I know it isn't predictable to any given day, but it seemed like what I read was about we'll always know what btc is worth in real value, not artificially inflated or deflated, and based on - which is where it's sketchy but I *think* it was based on something like how many people are buying or making transactions the value is calculated so the ups and downs are knowable.
I've read so friggin much on here it's hard to remember it specifically but that was the impression it gave me - that the match behind bitcoin provides some calculation that tells what the value is and going to be based on use or something.
Anyway, no problem...just curious

Thanks!

If that's knowable because of the code itself then why all the speculation? I think you answered your own question... the value is obviously not in the code... the only related thing in the code is the block reward that is currently at 25 and will half in 2016 and continue to halve every 4 years until almost zero, which makes it a deflationary currency, which should theoretically increase the value over time.... in the long term.
THIS ^^^ this is what it was...exactly...so it's about the mining and not the value of the btc itself...got it! Thanks!

I have read sooooo much stuff (even read over half of THIS entire thread - dedicated n00b yo) - so yeah I definitely got crossed there, though it would've been even cooler of Satoshi if he'd have just coded the whole thing to make everyone financially secure and never impoverished since clearly he was already a genius level nerd

i like the new poll.
just yesterday i bought the domain
bitcoin.rocks ! donīt know what to do with it, but hey - it rocks !

Take a page from the geocaching crowd and make rock looking caches to hide private keys in? Geocachers are a creative bunch with their hiding skillz.

For any US folks still awake - what's your call on which camp is apt to be more pro bitcoin, red states with the pro god anarchist anti governmentish up in your business anyway science hating republicans or the anti god pro science pro arts live and let live government up in your business dems?
Good luck with that.

ETA - I'd trade on a us exchange since I figure I'd have to. Would there be a huge wait time on a transfer outside the us to a us bank? If one site has a better buy rate than another, does it matter where I am - meaning can I use any of them wherever they are in the country or should I be going with us exchanges?

For a new market, if the price dropped to $100 or less, the traders and speculators might blow a gasket and drop out on a loss, vowing btc is over, but for the public, a campaign that they could pick up btc very low and ride it up is going to entice a whole lot of OTHER people just hearing about it. If they saw it as a ground level opportunity and recognized btc's long term value I can see that bringing in new money.
Why wouldn't it?
I, too, would probably sell a kidney to buy up as much as possible from the ones who are convinced it's dead and buried...at a steal

Just dropped to 339 low for now...in as much time as it took to hit send and reload.
Still asking - what is "the bottom" meaning here? The low?

They think the market will drop to ~$340 again and "test" to see if it goes to a new low. Current low is $339.8, so if it gets to that level again, it is "Testing" it.
Thank you

Still learning!

WTF is happening, why are we plunging again?
This isn't a plunge. This is boring. What, you thought the market would just automatically go up forever from the exact moment you bought?
Why yes, yes we did

The guy walks off with 8 million $ while having spent pennies.
Clearly burning money :/
Could have walked off with a couple of million more by drip-feeding into rallies. Not a hell of a lot of extra work.
he must be hoping market take some % of his wall, give up and start trading lower, so then he can buy back cheaper.
Please explain.
I'm not seeing the logic or sense in selling 30k bitcoin at 300, driving the price down and then buying it back up for 200 or whatever. Why not just keep it and help push the price UP?

i am really hope , bitcoin will decrease to be 10usd for 1 btc, look like last 2012 before ..

back to basic and happy panic to investor but love just for collector only
Everyone who here has some sense knows that btc price can not go below $200.
Why can't it?
If enough people freak out, or anyone else puts up a 30k sell order, it could go to zero pretty easily.

Look at all the little baby profit takers selling right before the $350 wall.
A 30K wall can't hold us down but a 2K one will? I better sell because we will never cross that! Lol
baby profit takers?
that 2 k wall is pure profit.

btw, if mr 30 k wall is out of ammo, he is more stupid than I thought.
but my gut is telling me that he is awaiting train pics.
And more people who still havent grasped that it was an early adopter cashing out.
I dont buy the story that someone who hodl for 4 years wants to get out after 6 month downtrend.
Me neither.

People who are getting out always feel the need to tell others to do the same. It shows how insecure they are.
More importantly is how full of shit they are.
These clowns keep insisting bitcoin is worthless junk.
Okay...here's my address. Just send me over all your worthless imaginary magic junk please. No, I'm not paying you squat for it if it's not worth anything. Send them over please.

Exactly. Because you know that even at a falling or bouncing 300, that bitcoin is obviously worth something.
Hence, you're just full of shit.

I'm sure it does but a $100 - $150 drop from 300s isn't nearly as stomach wrenching as that freefall from $1200 to $300...if they got through that, they'll live another hundred bucks.
I still bought at 330 but I would rather buy 10 at $100 a pop than $350...plus, it will help me feel like I still managed to get in on bitcoing pre 1200 days, so I can enjoy the next train ride up!

What was the outcome of this meeting?
Regulate BTC. Shut up and take our money!

Also telling what the actual paradigm is of the one guy in particular when he wanted to know how to use bitcoin to transfer fiat.
I felt a face palm coming on

I wish the spokespeople for bitcoin would just once have the balls enough to say, we're giving you room to participate in making bitcoin a safe pain in the ass free alternative to your worthless fiat, but if you think you can regulate it out of existence, think again. It's here to stay. This is just professional courtesy...you don't control shit
