Two bullish indicators:

1) Level of Doom&gloom. Full absence of train pictures Smiley Talks about previous ATH, double digits etc.
2) On weekly chart - red candle, 23% down, without wisk. Found only one similar one, end of June, before the recovery.

Please forgive my infinite ignorance, but what does ATH mean?

Here's hoping BJA either sold a little on the spike or found something to hock.

If the posted bids down to 400.01 were dumped at market, they would buy up to 490.76

I closed my margin long @ $478 and took a good pounding. My biggest loss ever. Note to self: Never hold a margin position overnight.

note to all : NEVER NEVER EVER TRADE ON MARGIN!!! Wink jmho!!!

I'll play the ignorant n00b card again... could you please explain what trading on a margin means?

In my defense, it does say "Newbie" on the left Smiley

Its a largely low % indicator that a lot of people want to use as if its a high % indicator resulting in a large % of losing trades.

Thanks Smiley

I don't get what's happening. There was a brief spike yesterday around midnight (Europe), then it fell back down during the day, and it's up to 460 again at the moment. All while the Chinese are supposedly either sleeping or on holiday.

Does the collective wisdom of this thread (not being sarcastic here) predict another fall to ~440 in the next 24 hours, or are we slowly chooing to the moon already?

~26 hours ago when we first dipped down from 440 to 400 I was sleeping at the time (I'm in Europe), and I lost money by sleeping in BTC. Sold at 400 when I woke up and watched the fireworks. Last night I was up until 3am watching the price go down to 355, went to sleep for 4 hours in fiat, and woke up at 400.

What the fuck.

Am I just really unlucky or am I doing something wrong? Why do massive changes occur at roughly 3:00 am UTC? Am I missing something?

Yes, you are doing something wrong.

Solution: Trade on larger time frames.

Too much noise otherwise, especially in bitcoin. You wont just lose money, you will also lose your sleep and then your sanity.

Fair enough, but having read the last 400 pages of this thread, it is still unclear to me what the long-term trend will be. So it is hard for me to decide whether to wait in BTC or in fiat. Besides, why should I miss out on riding these waves when everyone else here does it? (not arguing, just asking)

I was doing rather well until 30 hours ago.

Anyhow my brain is fried. I just bought BTC, so the way my luck is going, expect a massive downtrend until I'm back.

This is your mistake, this is the wall observer, a day-traders thread - for scalping. besides the amount of bashing and bitching that goes on in here puts everything out of context. remember, it's a zero sum game and you are up against everyone.

Well of course I'm not buying everytime I see a train picture or selling every time someone spreads panic and FUD. I try my best to filter the noise and evaluate the overall sentiment, and correlate what is happening to what the people here do, and learn.

I m living in europe too. Same storry, different action. I bought a shitload on 400, was looking very excited as the price heading to my next buy level. Very disappointed to wake up for a 400$ BTC... I wasn t expecting that before the 15th.

Any way,in this market, if you really believe in bitcoin, you shouldn t time the bottom. Once you buy, you have to hodl the line. I can do that by always having fiat ready to go in. 400 was my first buy entry also Wink

Nobody know the bottom. You better be ready to hodl for a whole year, maybe more ( i m ready, even if i think that the next surge is for this summer)

Oh, totally. I am very bullish in the long-term, but I want to increase my BTC holdings by daytrading while the price is low. I have only invested as much as I can afford to lose, so I'm not exactly swimming in fiat  Wink

A few pages back I read something about China-related movement hapenning on the 18th. What's up with that? I thought that their ban on exchanges or whatever goes into effect on the 15th, so there should be wild fireworks going around on that date, in either direction. But why the 18th?

Some fiat entered. It will probably be around Wednesday when the dumping continues. Till then, the dumpers are waiting if maybe more fiat will be wired, so they can sell with an better price.
I'm not buying into this because it isn't very probable that much more fiat will enter. There hasn't been any important good news about the markets, so nothing has really changed in the long-term.

It's Monday so could it be that people are waiting for their deposits to hit the exchanges? You know, the deposits they wired when they saw cheap bitcoins at 400 yesterday. And what will these people do Tue/Wed when the fiat is there? BUY!

Just my guess.

You ignore the chart indicators because of your belief, and then complain later and ask why you are losing.

I ignore the chart indicators, because I still don't know how to read chart indicators. I'm still learning, so I follow this forum for advice, and then follow the forum's advice not to follow any advice I find on this forum.

I have no idea whether I should be shorting right now and buying back lower. Last time I panic sold, I lost 1/8 of my investment.

I think this rally has flattened out, the question now is whether there will be another one or if we'll slowly go down again for a while.

Nice poll question Adam most interesting in a while, the results so far are surprising.

Yes, but it's missing a valid viewpoint: "I couldn't care less about precious metals", which is not the same as thinking about it.
