Hello again W. O. people. Been a long time, 5 1/2 years I think. I found this interesting:
https://ibb.co/1q26mt5

That's from Binance a few minutes ago. I thought the runup yesterday was a standard weekend pump but now I'm not so sure. Do we now have two weekend pumps?

Anyhow, I whipsawed my trading account yesterday and now find myself with all fiat on the trading account. Whadda dumbass.

Welcome[back] aboard. Train appears to be leaving the station.

Have a +1 WOsMerit because I cant seem to help myself this morning.

Carry on.

Thanks for the welcome. And thanks for the merit. I guess... That's one of the new things I see here. We seem to be missing a lot of the big names that I remember. Must have cashed out and living the dream on a tropical island I suppose.

Ya, if the train isn't exactly leaving the station, it's building steam to do so.

side note: My mini-stash at 10-23-13, when I went into cold storage, was at $190.31. Now at ~$8812.30. What a nice increase!

I know that you can't see the depth image that I posted above. But there is a pretty steep sell wall set up from about 8997 to 9000. Potential profit takers or is that the dump that is being readied?

There you go old geek. Much appreciated for the indepth analyst of the chart. Wink
Next time you can use imgbb.com to post an image on here and choose bbcode full linked in the drop down menu when finished uploading your image then you are good for life of your image. Smiley

Thanks for that. I did try the full linked bbcode. Didn't work so I'm thinking it has to do with my newbie status.

When I was a newbie, in 2017, I bought some Ethereum.
They are now at the same price as I bought them.

Do you guys think it would be a choice to exchange it for BTC?

Personally I donīt see many reasons to accumulate Ethereum anymore, it is a riskier investment in long term as it has many competitors, and I see none BTC competitor out there.

Once upon a time I had devcoin, i0coin, ixcoin, and namecoin. It took a while for me to realize that all of those had no utility for me. My goal was to increase BTC and they were not a vehicle for me. So traded them all in for BTC. No regrets.

Only you can truly answer your question. I don't know your goals and therefore it would be remiss for me to advise you.

From my point of view, the final answer is more bitcoins. YMMV

mmmm. I'm thinking along the lines of a 1961 Jaguar XK-E. Just for running around in, I mean.  Grin

In other news, that wall is still alive on Binance but the approach to it is less steep now. Only 200 or so on the upside to see it it holds.

Made me think of Hey Little Cobra by the Rip Chords.

Just how old are you anyway?

Oh yeah! 1964 Cobra with the 427. Quite the beast. Just doesn't seem to have the classic lines of the Jag, but a neat beast all the same.

How old am I? Way, way too old. When Hey Little Cobra was released I was just finishing my first overseas tour in the US Navy.

Drunk alert.

Yup. Didn't last long, did it? Some 530+- coins changed hands in a downward move. As soon as the wick touched the SMA the buyers returned. I take that as a strong bullish statement.

Order has been restored. Carry on.

You are NOT starting out too well in your newbie status if you are spouting out that kind of nonsense.

Pretty soon, you will argue that bitcoin is crashing based on consolidation or a less than 5% correction.

amirite?

Ya. I'm easily fooled. Not seeing bitcoin crashing though. Peaks and valleys moving upward. Maybe I'm remembering the weekly pump and dumps from years gone by. Shrug.

Well. So much for my ill advised pump and dump. Looks like pump and pump. Watch out 9000.

Hello WO. What a lovely day. We passed 9000 handily and have stayed mostly above for a nice amount of time.
I'm happy to see the progress. I managed to unravel my self-induced whiplash with the small down spike yesterday, so I'm back to all-in bitcoin again. Always want to end my day with BTC.

So, my question to you smart folks:

What caused us to push through so quickly?
A. Bitcoin in the news?
B. Mega Bears getting antsy?
C. Just because?
D. Or...?

Any thoughts you'd care to share?

I'm not sure about this, but maybe because China unbans Bitcoin again.

https://bitcoinist.com/china-bitcoin-p2p-exchange-legal-lawyer/

I hate all the China bans and unbans because its happened so many times. However, I remember the last crypto winter ending when China unbanned it.

Nice. Thanks. Wow! I remember in the 'old days' traders had to keep one eye on the china exchange just to KYA.

So, China news, and more attention in the US news. All good.

This is the perfect time to hear everyone's regrettable sells. Smiley

In the dumbshit column: I bought a monthly subscription to some worthless shite for the sum of .025 btc at $313.30 in Nov. 2013. Was in regrets when it went to $1000 on MtGox later in the month. So, .025 x 12 = 0.30 btc or $93.99. Now, however = ~$3,174.00

Sheesh!

Alrighty then. We had a quick drop and held above 10000. Was that enough correction to take us to 15000?

@WO : Never mind. The usual stuff. Humping robots, this guy is a nut-case, that guy doesn't know from jack shite, old guy been on the road and posts a nifty summary. Thanks for that, Hueristic JSRAW.

So, looking at the charts and was feeling let down. Wondering who/why and then decided it really didn't matter. It is what it is. Then pulled up a one day plot at Stamp. Feeling better when I noticed that only one month ago we were at ~8600. Bouncing above 10k doesn't feel so bad now.

So, Hodl or trade up.Now is not the time to sell.

18. Post 51699655 (copy this link) (by Old Geek) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_16.54h):

So, BTC is back up. Fitting nicely into the fib channel (whatever that means), still on the parabolic curve (whatever that means), retracement is not complete (whatever that means), news hawk continue to shank bitcoin so their employer can maintain the ad whore levels, and I don't care. Bitcoin is going to go where it wants to go. Namely up. Maybe a few dips and divots from time-to-time, but the future is decidedly up.

Now, a serious question with a few caveats: Caveats first. I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume that the population of regulars on the WO are spread, somewhat, along these lines: ages 20s 60%, 30s 15%, 40s 15%, and the remainder 50s plus. The percentages don't really matter all that much, they just help me visualize the group as a whole.

Now, again, I believe that most here are what I would call 'bag holders'. Those who have accumulated a stash and have no plans to divest any substantial amount. You do realize that you are the bankers of the future, don't you?

So my question to you all: Have you considered your exit plans?

I fit comfortably in the smallest percentile by age, so this is something for me to seriously consider. Right at this moment I believe that I will begin to withdraw fiat in small amounts when the price stays at 20k or above. Considering my current health, I believe that I have some ten, or so, years to withdraw most of my coins. I have already done some estate planning so that my administrator will, hopefully, know what to do when I pass.

Side note: I've tried retirement twice. It didn't stick either time. Too much time to do nothing much. Youth is wasted on the young.

So, what are your exit plans?

Thank you. Sell some more. Joking of course.

I would guess that the average age skews a bit higher, like 35-40.

My preferred exit plan is something like what I infer Bob did. I'd begin selling 5% of my crypto/corn per week, beginning at a predetermined price point, until I've sold half. I plan to let the other half ride, mostly, and use it for large expenditures - new cars, vacations, etc.

With the half that is now fiat, I'd buy a new house somewhere warmer. The rest I'd put it in a traditional investment plan - like 80% stocks/20% bonds, for instance. I'd withdraw 4% annually (the standard withdrawal rate), probably on a monthly basis. This would be my "income".

Seems like a solid plan. Timing is everything of course.

Thanks.

Wish I had time to invest in video games again.  Bring on retirement !

I hope it works out for you. I tried retirement twice and it didn't take either time. You can only wash the car so many times per week. Painting the house more than twice a year is stupid. Honeydoo lists tend to get longer and more boring. Even extended cruises lose their appeal. Now, a dedicated video gamer might be able to manage it.
