Hmmmmm. OkCupid, well that's bad. Looks like they served every US business that accepts BTC (through MtGox - which is most of them - Coinbase in the case of OKC)
OKC posted the email from dwolla.

Gox missing funds is bullish. Expect panic buys from those who still have fiat/"credit" in their account.
Perhaps the whale trades these past few weeks were the panic buys? Wouldn't surprise me if most of the large trades are based on info not available to the public.
Yup. I'm in fiat and won't buy now; I'll wait for the nose dive... Although it might be a 90% drop from $1000
Aren't you afraid of holding the fiat bag when gox finally implodes? There won't be anyone willing to sell their BTC for goxbux once the news is official.

I think does who dumped down to 187 $ just now will regret it. Doesn't make any sense to me.
Yeah, there'll be folks crying about it tomorrow. "I sold all my bitcoins cause the price was going down then it went back up. Bitcoin is broken, wah wah wah"
good shakedown

yes, but not in, unless you trust the Russian mafia with a suit case of cash... they have been pretty solid so far but most people dont really want to do that... they would rather trust some asshat in japan
The interface between Bitcoin and fiat is still embarrassingly fragile. It's all basement startups for the most part.
startups in garages with great ideas are the things established players fear the most.

With each new day I see less and less chance for price to significantly drop. Only some very negative news could do it, the buying pressure just absorbs any dump, and bid walls keep building.
Lets revisit this once there is a 50k dump.
I was thinking about this the other day.
I doubt we're gonna see a 50k coin dump ever again.
The market has matured. People with that amount of coins know they can get easily get a better OTC deal these days.

Post 4377693 (copy this link) (by gmannn) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_11.53h):
"In related news, the millions of dollars in bitcoin seized by the FBI from Ross Ulbricht and the first Silk Road, currently stored in a set of online wallets, appears to be on the move. A source in the U.S. Justice Department said that “authorities” have access to the Ulbricht’s bitcoin cache and may be selling it off for less volatile currencies in the next few weeks."
"The reason for selling is that the Government has lost faith in the value of bitcoin and does not want to deal with the volatility of the currency,” the source said"
http://techcrunch.com/2014/01/07/the-silk-roads-libertas-is-free-to-the-annoyance-of-us-authorities/imho i don't believe US government would let go that easy.. good old poker face?
At any rate, they aren't just going to wire it across to gox and dump it on the exchange

The DPR and Silk Road coins are not "on the move." The funds are sitting at
https://blockchain.info/address/1FfmbHfnpaZjKFvyi1okTjJJusN455paPH and
https://blockchain.info/address/1F1tAaz5x1HUXrCNLbtMDqcw6o5GNn4xqX -- not a single satoshi has been withdrawn.
These coins will not be auctioned off before the trial concludes, and would not be sold at Gox or BitStamp. The wording of the statement "the reason for selling is that the Government has lost faith in the value of bitcoin and does not want to deal with the volatility of the currency" makes me suspicious of the credibility of the author's "source in the U.S. Justice Department." I wonder if Tech Crunch contributor John Biggs (author) has any relation to our fine forum contributor JohnyBigs:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=372303.0.
Great find, expect an article on TC tomorrow which claims all responsibility for today's drop and then goes on about how easy the exchange rate is to manipulate.

whos next?
india and brazil. bric countries against the NWO coin
No offense to India, but I have a handful of friends that live there and I have been told that majority of that country is very poor with a small middle class and a handful of the wealthy. I don't think the majority would put to much into bitcoins.
India may not have alot of wealth, but the people there cherish gold. Even the poorest people in India keep gold in their hands. The fact that Bitcoin has so many gold-like properties is my reason why I think Bitcoin would do great in India. Although the Indian government might not like it.
I understand, but can they cherish something that isn't tangible?
Bitcoin is tangible, but not corporeal.

The incompetency is criminal. Financial services are held to a higher level of accounting, and to be drained clean before finding out assets are gone should never happen. Checking and auditing BTC balances is one of the easiest and most transparent feature of bitcoin itself.
Karpeles and his accomplices should be getting what they deserve.

If that document is true, how in the hell did they lose 750,000 BTC? That is insane.
Classic gox.
Sad thing is, they've been hacked before and should have learned how to balance the books back then. I guess the large, dessert-like coffees were just too irresistible.

I won't be happy until Mark is in jail or in a coffin. A lot of people lost a lot of money because of his shithole magic the gathering online xchange.
But how many people gained money because of MtGox?
Him and his employees... And whoever figured out the way to steal the 750,000 BTC. Anyone else who made money there paid fees to do so, so they are excluded.
TBH 750k coins is a hell of a lot to steal without notice, I suspect they were behind it all along. Nobody can do anything about it now lol.
I'm guessing that since the coins were slowly leaked over years, it didn't all go to one entity.

Anyone else starting to suspect that the recent large sells on Stamp were by someone who knew about the statement in advance?
the leaked document suggests GOX was or was planning to arbitrage their own exchange.

Makes no sense that the usd markets isn't moving. Basically nothing keeping it over 480 but no one is selling either. This if something lately should bring it down?
Whales usually don't sell into no support cause they'd get very poor value. Instead, they wait for a big wall. That's why I always laugh when people are like "oh hey, we have good support here... oh crap, someone just blew through it."
And regular folk moving a coin or two don't matter since they can't make the market move anyway.
Chances of a silkroad takedown effect?
Gox was doing about as much damage to BTCs image as SR.

So, how long is Mark going to let the site be down and trading suspended before he provides some sort of explanation?
Hours, days, weeks?
Could this be his exit strategy?
Their strategy so far has been to deny everything, admit no wrongdoing, shift blame. The only time they will explain truthfully has come out in leaks, and might even come out of court proceedings or otherwise.

Am I the only one who thinks that if Gox does come out alive and pay out, that this would be the best thing to happen for Bitcoin? The news would be unbelievably positive.
Its death.. well, its terrible already. It will only get worse if they wont pay out.
The world is better without gox, and the first legit US-regulated (trustworthy to retail investors) and publicly verifiable (blockchain proof of assets) exchange is going to make a killing.
Would be interesting to see gox2 launching with new management and owned by those fleeced by gox1 in proportion to one's gox1 holdings.

This review is from: Mirrycle MTB Bar End Mountain Bicycle Mirror (Sports)
1. The mirror itself is top notch. No distorsion (i.e., clear though convexed) unlike my previous Schwinn's at K-mart
2. Like it says, for the mountain bike, the mounting using the wedged end to the handle keeps it very tight, unlike
the collar-on-outside of handle mounting of the Schwinns and the like.
3. Even the articulated joints are tight and doesn't need any constant adjustments like my former. the threading
were made extra tight for this (the tooling to do the threading is purposefully made smaller).
4. i use it for the pavement (not dirt trails) and it holds the position after 30 miles. of course, if u bump the mirror,
it needs a little adjustment but that is expected.
5. Improvement: make the mirror about 1 inch diameter greater
6. just go buy it!!!
Are you fucking kidding me? The man can't even spell or construct a proper sentence. Experdited? Distorsion?
This is not Bitcoin's Satoshi.
This.
After seeing the effects of a stroke first hand, it is absolutely possible to go from white-paper nakamoto to newsweek nakamoto.

Big news. Definitely explains the drop.
No, it doesn't
Exactly. It doesn't. Why would anyone sell because the USMS is auctioning the seized coins? Surely someone who goes through all that trouble acquiring such an amount of coins will not dump them on the market.
The lower the market price, the lower the buyer can get the coins for
