I find the japanese accent difficult to understand indeed, but somewhat amusing. MtGox is in Tokyo, after all.
No answer about the liquidity. Other than that, the description about the number of new accounts was crispy and clear.
He is very difficult to understand - what accent does Karpeles have? It is certainly not a Japanese accent.

bucket shop?
Yes it's a bucket shop, a place where people go to make “side bets” on loans, scams and bankruptcy like a bookie for betting. It's perfect for Bitcoin.
Agree, reminds me of "boiler room".
I wouldn't touch any of those "investments" listed on wikipedia, guess they are on SecondMarket for a reason.

Not to downplay DougTanners call (if it was one), but someone's always right

Yeah, he called it first, and was it something he saw in the charts?
Missed the whole thing, was driving, and couldn't get any reception at that time.

This is so boring. We haven't had any real movement for hours.
+20 USD daily gain is not enough for you?

I just realized, that minor price changes in absolute numbers equal to the total price of one bitcoin back then a long long time ago. where are the $5 times!?!?!? … feels like talking about something other than bitcoin.
Nice thought...The price change for today was bigger than in first 3 years together, right?
log scale is fun eh?

just wait until we have $300 up or down days
Bring it ON!

World changing technology guys, the main forum for it is so quiet you can hear a pin drop. Maybe that should tell you something...
where did everyone go?
did they all cash out and leave
is it only me left
is this not BULLISH AS FUCK

good night!
Recent drama - we had bitfinex tighten leverage, the ethereum scam, the DRK RC4 debacle, the NXT clusterfuck - all in a relatively short time period. How else do you expect the markets to react?
Blood in the street - they say its the time to buy.
Sold - to you!

Whoa, Coinbase is sold out..
"Note! We've exceeded our normal buy limits for today. If you would still like to purchase you will receive the market price of bitcoin on Friday Aug 22, 2014 at 01:49AM EDT after your funds have arrived. read more
Due to higher than normal buy volumes, we are unable to provide exact price quotes right now.
Instead of pausing buys entirely, we decided to give people the option to purchase bitcoin at the market price in a few days. Once your USD funds arrive, we will exchange them to bitcoin at the market price at approximately Friday Aug 22, 2014 at 01:40AM EDT."
That's bullish right ?!?!?
Not exactly.
Smells like manipulation to me.
Coinbase can't even "provide exact price quotes right now"?

Isn't this very strange? I thought coinbase could always buy at exchanges to cover their btc stock.
They can't? Why? How do they cover their btc stock?
It's called front running.
They can't sell to you right now, cause they are buying for themselves.
Then they sell to you later - at a higher price, of course.

LMFAO
This isn't new.
When they originally started the service, they'd have a site-wide daily buying limit and as soon as it was hit nobody could enter new buy orders.
It got particularly bad during the spring of last year, so much so that people would create bots that you could run that would retry your order very 10 seconds until it finally went through.
I think it was last summer sometime they changed the system so that if they ran out of coins they could guarantee a price on (presumably, this would have been when they ran out of USD on Bitstamp to buy coins with) that you'd get the opportunity to buy but without a guaranteed exchange rate.
Not exactly a free market, is it?

Just looking at the daily chart (stamp): out of the last 28 days (not including today) 21 have been 'red' days.
I'm struggling to find a period in BTC trading worse -- and I've been looking at 2011 and June - August 2013.
I find it crazy that there hasnt been a single bulltrap in over 2 weeks of pure downtrend.
-30+% in 30 days and seemingly no panic about missing the train...
Very bad? Or just a very overdue trap? I cant see how $400 wont be revisited before $300 falls, but I said $355 or so was a bounce point yesterday and yet here we are.
No one has been able to present any rational clues on this.
I think the economy is so bad there is no disposable income left over to put into
BTC, even it people wanted to buy.
Just my .0001
BTC.

so yeah an irrational doubling of btc would be nice vs the irrational halving of price of the last few months
it should be incomprehensible in both directions imho just to be fair

ASIC mining has always been a den of thieves, scam-artists, conmen and bullshitters.
God knows how many people have been ripped off and turned off bitcoin by collapsed, scammy or outright thieving cheats surrounding ASIC mining schemes. Jihan is just the latest King Rat shithead that is at the top of the dung-heap for now ... the sooner people get used to the idea that ASIC miner producers and mining farms are generally a bunch of scumbag fucktards that have never given two shits about bitcoin the sooner we can move ahead on a sound philosophical basis.
Any devs who try to make nice with the miners is setting themselves up for fail ... the miners need to be treated like shit (mostly because they are a bunch of shit) or else they will ruin it.
Even monkeys and babies know to avoid unhelpful, anti-social individuals.
