Let us see if 590 will be resistance. The support that has built up is obviously nonsense (duh). Good luck folks!
Yes it was good support but when it broke it became start resistance. Went short here.

Looks like the big wall around 575 was removed.
About 1000 lots were removed.

When you guys trade BTC you need to take into account all the major markets such as BitFinex, BitStamp, OKCoin and BTCChina.
Problem is that the USD/CNY exchange rate differs and its hard to find a perfect long/short on all the different bitcoin markets.
BTCChina is by far the largest and should get the most importance.

I am going to be looking to go short if this wedge breaks. It looks like it high major resistance and failed to go any higher. Not much buyers in this area. If there is a hard break to the downside, I will enter short.

And I am also watching the price on Bitstamp.
The support for the last few days at 578 needs to break. I will be looking to short the bounce.

Huge offers appearing now on Bitfinex
8.
Post 8635091 (copy this link) (by adaseb) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_13.10h):
The way you trade this is as follows.
If the offers get pulled, it was a bear trap. Most likely somebody was covering their short or buying low at these levels. The 2000 BTC walls were to scare you into selling.
If the offers get filled, then its bearish momentum. Such as what happened 3 days ago...

Post 8756580 (copy this link) (by adaseb) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_13.11h):
I am going to short it around $480.
Very strong resistance level and many huge ask walls were filled.

Post 8792146 (copy this link) (by adaseb) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_13.12h):
Yes but if you look at the daily chart, the chart is looking very bearish.
My sell order never filled around $500 and its scary shorting here.
12.
Post 8798919 (copy this link) (by adaseb) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_13.12h):
Why don't these large whales use hidden orders instead of just putting a huge offer on the ask like that?
Makes it risky going long or short.
13.
Post 8842778 (copy this link) (by adaseb) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_13.13h):
Its hard to see which price will be strong support. Because there are massive spikes on every single exchange, but if the support around ~$400 is broken then, it might go all the way back to $250 or so.
I am thinking about hedging a large portion of my BTC as protection.
14.
Post 8852213 (copy this link) (by adaseb) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_13.13h):
I am surprised that there many a massive downwards spike already. We are at the low of the month and the selling isn't accelerating like last time.
I am keeping a small hedge position up just in case we end up breaking down but seems there are hidden buyers here.
15.
Post 8855085 (copy this link) (by adaseb) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_13.13h):
All of a sudden the bears appear
Bitfinex about $470 ~1500 BTC wall
about $475 ~650 wall
OKCOIN about 2855 ~500 BTC wall
Bitstamp all the way up to $465 about $2800 BTC wall
Most likely those wall won't get filled

Post 8855225 (copy this link) (by adaseb) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_13.13h):
Honestly there is NO REASON why BTC will rally from this area.
Huge trendlines are against it
There have been GREAT news regarding bitcoin but every rally gets sold off
Seems most of the coins entering the market are being dumped by multipools
I maybe be wrong but it doesn't look like this area will hold, it might go to $1000 one day but it will probably break $400 or lower.
17.
Post 8873188 (copy this link) (by adaseb) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_13.13h):
Looking at the order book on Bitstamp, I think we're primed for another dump sometime today.
I am not disputing that there'll be a dump, but I wouldn't ever base anything on the Order book. The last time we were in this position things on the books changed very quickly.
http://bfxdata.com/swapstats/usd.phpLarge spike in USD swaps On Finex
I see the opposite. Large BTC swaps on Finex not USD.
Meaning everybody is going short.

Post 8876496 (copy this link) (by adaseb) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_13.13h):
Why is it that almost everybody in this thread is long and I am probably the only one short ?
The trend was down, it hit major resistance, it failed to rally on good news. Why would you be long in this market?
Why is everybody saying "YAY! Cheap coins" ??
Why are you trying to catch a falling knife? This might be the bottom but its highly unlikely its the bottom. It could go down another $50,$100 or $200 before it reaches a bottom and finds support.

I closed a part of my short from $500 at $395.
I actually was expecting a larger spike down to $350-380 with the stops/margin calls getting set off.
I think from this area might be a temporarily bounce.
Seems most of the selling was accelerated by LTC/CNY

The dollar value increase has little to do with the decrease in BTC/USD.
It would only affect the price by a few bucks or so.

It will probably stay at $200-400 for the next 2-3 years until the block rewards stop
Too much money is given away to miners. Even now at the low price of $400, they get about $1.5 million a day.

I can't believe how low it went. I covered my shorts too early at $335
Very volatile at the moment.
Too risky to short or go long

Post 9094121 (copy this link) (by adaseb) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_13.20h):
I just cannot understand and comprehend why 98% of all the users in this thread are wanting to buy more BTC at the current levels when all the signals, trend, all point to a lower BTC.
Right now there is no reason to go long, only short.
Why is everybody guessing with their financial situation?

Huge bounce so far from the last low

Post 9150645 (copy this link) (by adaseb) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_13.22h):
And another big dump.
You can forget about the trend reversal. The dumpers will stop it for sure. Back to bear market.
of course there are "dumps"/corrections/whatever we went up quite a lot after 10months downtrend...a lot of traders are still afraid...in both directions...that is why the orderbook between 350 and 390 is so thin at the moment...
its thin but most of the orders are hidden.
You need to check the volume instead, not the order book

So far its looking good. However I am taking some profit off the table.
There is still huge resistance that we need to get past.
But this is the first time in a while that we got over the 100 DMA for most exchanges.

I am adding to my short around this area. Looks like its exhausted and might pullback.
Will cover if I see it stalling.
34.
Post 9211179 (copy this link) (by adaseb) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_13.24h):
Actually this move downward here is due to LTC/CNY hitting major resistance around $25-26 or so.
It had very good support at this price and then it broke it badly, and now it is retesting it.
If it can break the $25 CNY then we might test $450
35.

I am glad I started my short yesterday. I knew this wasn't going to reach $500, most of the rise was short covering and profit taking.
36.

Ok I took some profit from my short earlier this week. I need this area to break before i add to my short position.
Very volatlite lately and need to keep a tight stop.

I covered my short at a loss that I took a few days ago.
I was expecting it to go lower but it looks like support held and might advance higher.

Very fraustrating price action of late.
Looks like it will go down but stalls, looks like it goes up and stalls.
Keep losing money out due to commissions.
Really surprised it hasn't gotten lower yet.

Post 9358161 (copy this link) (by adaseb) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_13.27h):
Yes it is getting pretty bad out there. The volume is drying up badly. Most likely it will trade sideways for a while.
42.
Post 9369564 (copy this link) (by adaseb) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_13.27h):
Finally its going down. Will cover my short position soon.
Basically LTC/USD is what caused this down move from a few days ago.
43.
Post 9397833 (copy this link) (by adaseb) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_13.28h):
Yes I already took some profit of my short. I will probably reshort on any rally.
BTC is looking really week. I don't want to go long since it went down all of 2014.

We really need some news. But news even if positive has no effect it seems.

Post 9603370 (copy this link) (by adaseb) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_13.33h):

Going long almost always lead to losses.

Post 9718926 (copy this link) (by adaseb) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_13.36h):
Well the reason why its not going down at the moment is because it looks like LTC has finally found support.
Triple down bottom for LTC/ CNY

Well I covered my short from earlier this week. I also sold some BTC for some fiat.
Since Christmas is upon us, there will be even less liquidity and less volume and less price action.

62.
Post 9791145 (copy this link) (by adaseb) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_13.38h):
No the reason why its going down is due to LTC selling. Which always accelerates BTC declines.
63.
Post 9891159 (copy this link) (by adaseb) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_13.40h):
Alright I took profit off my last short. I think I was in the short for 3 weeks in total. I am hoping $300 would break but will take what I can get.
Should of shorted LTC isntead.
64.
Post 9931104 (copy this link) (by adaseb) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_13.41h):
Well if you know when to short BTC you can always make good money when it goes down.
LTC was very easy to make money this year by shorting it.
65.

67.
Post 10040664 (copy this link) (by adaseb) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_13.44h):
A bit of downward pressure over the next 5 hours...expect it to hold strong at 250. Fresh fiat to hit exchage tomorrow morning and the bounce shall begin for the year!!!!
The next support actually appears to be the $260ish level. The price on bitfinex has hugged that somewhat but we haven't seen any major downward movement below it that has been sustained for more then ~an hour. It will be interesting to see how many people end up having to liquidate their margin long positions that will cause the price to decline
If you look closely this support area already broke. I don't think it will bounce from here. IT was here 4 months ago.
68.

there is a serious sale going on at CaVirtex right now. maybe the closing is causing some panic, or maybe people are worried about the ability to sell large quantities anymore afterwards so are taking the hit now ... but the sale is on. lucky if you got some cash on there and are a bull.
I did some arb the other day moving my $ funds to another exchange, and today the arb opportunity is twice as good. I guess alot of poeple are simply cashing out to fiat and withdrawing to their bank account because of the shutdown, i wonder how long these prices are going to last, is it worth wiring more money to virtex... hmm... probably!
Can you still wire money in? Do they take CAD deposits still?
i believe so, it doesn't say its disabled... ill have to try it out later.
I have thought about doing this but it seems risky. The money might disappear with what is going on lately.

IS BITFINEX WORKING FOR YOU?
Yes but you had to use limit orders, because when I closed my short at 214.80 the price was actually around $190-$200 at the time and it took like 1 minute or so to fill.
You had to also use your Order Trading History because the terminal was frozen.
I only covered my short and bought because on BTCe, Huobi and Bitstamp price was around $220 so I assumed this was due to a long squeeze.

You guys are bad at trading. Looking at the daily charts the major resistance and supply area is around $300. Whenever price hit that area there was massive selling. Most likely that will be the top in the near term, then it will either go back down to the $220's or hopefully would break the $300 and then retest it on heading higher.
I don't see it breaking $300 yet, maybe closer to the halving.

One thing I learnt about this thread is this
* When price is going up and everybody is like "BITCOIN IS GOING TO THE MOON" or "Here $10,000 we come" it means its time to sell or go short.
* When price is crashing and everybody is like "BITCOIN IS A SCAM" or "BITCOIN IS GOING TO $1" it means its time to buy or cover.

Yeah, unfortunately this is the case... people in this thread have always been thinking in an "all or nothing" approach... but that's the fun of speculating, you never know what's going to be the outcome at anytime. Once people see the prices go down a dollar, they are instantaneously ready to sell all of their bitcoins, and ready to watch the bitcoin world burn to the ground.
It's actually pretty funny to me, and love to monitor the thread all the time.
That's all bullshit.
Even though there frequently are common themes amongst some posters, participants in this thread can hardly be pigeonholed into merely a couple of categories. Get real.

Also, if you engage in a communication (beyond superficiality) with any particular poster of this thread, except for maybe the most extremes of trolls, there is going to be a considerable amount of individual perspective and experiences and independent thinking - even when some of the individual posters may from time to time drone on and merely be stirring shit within a large number of their posts.
I had to re-read this a few times and honestly I have no idea what you are trying to say due to your specific use of the english language.
Are you a English University professor or something?

I highly doubt there will ever be a short squeeze.
The amount of BTC swap is low, and we don't know what price they sold the BTC at? It could of been at $1100 USD.
I also think a large portion of these BTC shorts is simply mining farms trying to get a future price for their mining revenues for the next few months.
Long squeeze is a different story.

I stay far away from the Chinese exchanges during this rally. In all probability, when this rally is finally over, then one of those exchanges will do a mtgox.
Using leverage during an exponential growth period is really setting yourself up for financial disaster. I did it with a somewhat small amount of money just as a gamble for the fun of it. I recommend AGAINST doing it in hopes to actually come out ahead of the game.
Most trades I take I am in the position for less than an hour.

The BTC market is unpredictable in the short term, but longer term the obvious patterns form. If you are a long term bull, then trade on the long term patterns. Buy/accumulate when the market is bottomed and no one cares, sell near top of rallies. Then be patient to get back in, because a rally bubble can take a while to unwind. A LONG while. There may even be several mini bull runs/short squeezes along the way, but ultimately the price ends up bottoming out way lower and all volume/volatility dies.
How about this as a strategy for a lazy trader (like me)? It's the cross-overs of K and J of the KDJ indicator.

Hasn't crossed over quite yet

I think we can settle on the crossing, right?

Its a lagging indicator, by the time you notice the cross, price will of already moved.

Alright. Enough fighting in this thread. We will know in the next few hours where Bitcoin will be headed once it breaks out of the wedge.
If it breaks up, then it will test the ~350 level before heading higher.
IF it breaks down, then it will test the minor support at ~330 and then the major support at $300.
IF $300 Breaks, then its VERY bearish but it should hold given the massive rise from that level. I highly doubt this move was caused by the MMM scam.

How can you be so convinced that the volume on Stamp is not real?
There is a BTC price battle going on, no?
And, such BTC price battle has been going on for nearly 14 weeks (specifically on Stamp - as the price leader), and more intensified in the past about 4 weeks, no?

Yea, would take some balls to short here at 327, even though we saw 309 a couple days ago.
Margin shorts vs longs on Bitfinex and OkCoin suggests probable upward movement once the work week begins.
This ended up being a good call.
I shorted 82 BTC at 327.2 this morning. Hoping for a few bucks over the next few hours. Stop loss at 329.
I already took profit on 75% of my position from that short. If it closes above the $330, I will be out.

This is a good analysis if you are looking for a long term long at around the ~$1200 level or so. However its too early to tell if we will be getting any mid-term bearish action. Shorting based on this is not a good indicator.
Tomorrow, all of todays moves could easily be reversed as it was in the past. We are still in a strong bull market.

what do you guys think about the Tether/Bitfinex conspiracy? Where is all this money coming from? Is bitfinex just "washtrading" the price in its desired direction?
Imho price of Bitcoin at 1k$ was the result of somehow healthy grow (~$10Mio Tether), now we have 7x this price (~600Mio Tether). This might be the next MtGox.
Get rich quick 101
1. Buy BTC with real USD
2. Print Tether
3. Pump BTC with Tether
4. FOMO
5. Sell BTC for USD
6. Profit
When you understand how washtrading works you'll understand that 20Mio Tether are enough to increase MarketCap by 20Billion$.
This works as long as the price of BTC stays high. Never short Bitcoin in the current situation. This bubble (Tether out of thin air) will pop.
They posted an audit last month.
The supply of tethers keeps increasing because price of bitcoin keeps going up.
20 Million these days is nothing. Its mostly from old adopters that sell their BTC whenever a new ATH is made.
Tether is required to keeps the markets liquid.
I might be wrong but I also don't believe those Bitfinex'rekt reddits and FUD conspiracies either.

Alot of people sold at around $10K. Probably anywhere from $9000-9900 or so. This is a given. Makes complete sense.
However since the price went up regardless, means there must of been multiple amounts of demand as supply. Hence its extremely bullish.
I am reading many posts on Reddit, or all over this forum people saying "Its a bubble", or "I've sold and will buy back cheaper", etc, etc. I am pretty sure those are the people who sold their entire positions at a profit and are all fiat now.
Its human emotion to talk bad about something that you don't own or want.
I would say that most of the retail market of 2017, they most likely bought it purely out of short term speculation. They bought it at $1000, sold at $2000.
Bought at $2000, sold at $3000. Bought at $3000, sold at $4000. During those huge dips, some people sold at break-even.
The long-term adoptors, the ones who hold Caustatious coins and those who CPU/GPU mined BTC back in the day, they most likely sold very little percentage of their holdings at $10K. I've met many in person and they think $10K is still too cheap.
I really think that most of the coins that were bought and hold this year was by large institutions. They are the ones who kept buying at all time highs because since the beginning of the year their cost basis is still low. But they plan on holding for a long time.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2482954.msg27183947#msg27183947Decided to re-analyse the 25BTC and 100BTC coins since my very first post BTC doubled again to $20K and BCH doubled again to $4K.
25BTC Coins (
https://casascius.uberbills.com/?type=25&status=active )
Starting at beginning of 2017, there were about 501 active coins. BTC at the beginning of the year was around $1K
When BTC hit $10K (end of November) 50 were opened.
Today, right after BTC peaked at $20K and BCH peaked at $4K. 67 were opened
So only 13% were opened in 2017 when priced went up about 2000%. Seems like either some of these coins might of been lost or Casascius are so wealthy that they don't bother to sell.
100 BTC Coins (
https://casascius.uberbills.com/?type=100&status=active )
When BTC hit $10K (end of November) 7 were redeemed.
Today, right after BTC peaked at $20K and BCH peaked at $4K. Another 2 were redeemed. So only 9 redeemed in entire year of 2017.
Similiar percentage of 14% redeemd in 2017 after BTC appreciated 2000% in value. Actually more like 2200% if you include the forked coins.

Was under $10K probably for less than a minute.
Tons of stop losses under... but many buy-limits under also

Compared to other threads on bitcointalk, reddit, twitter, facebook.
It seems everybody in this thread is chill and hodling.
Guess being an old adopter comes with its perks.

Stumbled upon the Digital Goods section of Bitcointalk and there are people asking 1 BTC for Bittrex, Bitfinex, Poloniex and Binance accounts.
Is it really true that you can't even open an account with any crypto-only exchange these days?
Also stumbled upon my local Craiglist and people asking $400 for an R9 280X and $500 for an R9 290 GPUs. Also people asking $1000 for an Antminer S5.
If so, this bubble is far far away from bursting...

Anyone here used their tether lately with armory on cold storage?
Been a while since I spent my tether and want to make sure the old version of Armory can still sign the transactions generated by omniwallet.org
They had some hard-fork last month or so and changed some parameters.

How do you guys compute your taxes when...
You mined 1 ETH with your GPU ....
You sold 1 ETH and bought BTC ....
You held that BTC for a long time and then sold for USD ...
The 1 ETH is business income?
The BTC is considered capital gains?

Went to my local computer store to buy a new PSU. Since my 4 year old Corsair 750W is crapping out.
I look behind the counter and they got a bunch of rigs mining. I wanted to buy a PSU and they said they are not selling them without a motherboard+cpu combo.
WTF?

Dammit that’s much better than mine. You win.
na not mine
go on anyway
Knock knock?
who's there?
Satoshi
Satoshi who?
Craig Wright
If Craig Wright is Satoshi (or part of that group of three with hal finney and the other guy..both that have passed away) and there is a BTC Trust he can get a hold of worth
Billions on Jan 1st 2020 as he claims...well, he is gonna flush a lot of BTC and watch us burn, for how he sees his treatment by BTC community and the press....
he currently has some folk convinced that he is Satoshi and patenting blockchain and everything else he can try to do (on the assumption he can prove he is satoshi IF the
trust is real and he has access)
only a 1 out of 20 chance IMHO, of this being true....but that is my Bitcoin Boogman Senario...(hell, after Trump became President of the USA...all unlikely things in my mind now are
now possible)
shudder!
Yeah he is definately Satoshi.
Instead of buying a Lambo, he just rents one. Because when you got so much money... why buy when you can rent since it costs more.

Found this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7h6oWYYiusApparently its a show on CNBC
I find it crazy how they write
"Don't panic when the coin drops 50%"
Is it just me or does it sound crazy not to panic when you lost 50% of unrealized gains.

Don't know if you guys frequent the "Mining" section but its brutal there.
Basically Bitmain pulling another Bitmain and over-supplying the market with an ASIC for SIA. Noobs ordering a bunch of units expecting $500/day and while UPS is dropping off these ASICs the difficulty triples in about a day.
https://siamining.com/statsAlso people going CRAZY over GPUs. People basically paying $1500 for GPUs and Computer Stores either Out of Stock on PSUs or REFUSING to sell PSUs without a Mobo+CPU combo.
While I'm just chilling and mining on my good old 7970 from the Litecoin days on my old trusty Corsair 750W with ROI being the least of my worries.

Ack! looks like work...will contemplate the concept of GPU mining with my 1 card Alienware laptop and expansion chassis (1 GPU card) by EXTENSIVELY field testing it with the Destiny 2
game....this may take a while...got to run the GPU card thru its paces don't ya know...be secure in it being stable an all that (cough!) (again with the throwing of stuff at me in
bitcointalk...jeez)
In my opinion GPU mining right now is very profitable if you already own the equipment.
Right now there is a shortage of GPUs, PSUs, Motherboards, and USB Risers. So starting from scratch is going to be very expensive and a headache.
You can try mining with your laptop, however its generally not recommended however since its a gaming laptop, maybe the cooling is improved. Either way I would first REMOVE THE BATTERY before mining so it doesn't overheat and explode.

I’m on mobile. What’s a break out ? 11,500?
Keep in mind those TX could be the mother of all dumps too
We are on $11,400.
Breakout would be either at $11,700 which is the neckline of this inverse head and shoulders we are in
After that probably the psychological $12,000 and after that most likely the previous resistance and psychological $13,000
Support is always at $10K

Mining profitability now is more or less exactly what it was a year ago. Right before the crazy ETH bubble.
Only difference is that GPUs gotten more expensive and people complain because of bad ROI times.
My 7970 mined BTC then LTC then Darkcoin then ETH and now ZEC
5 year old graphic card.

Pretty sure the reason why the price is crashing is due to people like this
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/8adxnh/need_a_serious_advice_should_i_take_out_a_private/Hi, Around January 7th I took out a loan against the house and I invested 12000$ in crypto and today of that 12k I have 1650$ left. I cant sleep at night. I am in a heavy depression. I bought everything at all time high and bought shitcoins such as verge trx poet paccoin and good coins- cardano. all my coins dropped hard. verge and trx recovered but i sold at 400 satoshi respectively. My goal is to at least be at neither positive or negatively. It will be my paradise if that happens. I need someone with years of financial experience to point me in the right direction to avoid losing 300k home and not end up on the street. This is not a cry for attention. Please do not be disrespectful and inhumane because in my last thread not only did I not get an answer I got laughed at and told that I got what I deserved hoping I will end up on the street and it really hurt my feelings because like everyone of you, I just want a chance at financial freedom. I want to provide for my family and make a difference in this world. I am still relatively young and I told myself if I ever achieve my ultimate goal my next goal is to help others in need. Please Help! Do you suggest for me to take out another private loan on my house for 10 000$ or should I work with what I have left? Thank you for your consideration and I truly value your time, reddit.
There is probably many of these situations where people borrowed money to buy crypto or mining equipment and will panic sell and cause market to go even lower.

What do you want first? Ok let's do the good news.
The good news is $200 million tether just entered circulation.
Bad news is the MTGox coins are moving again.
