who still trade at Mtgox ? well this news is not really pleasant
http://thegenesisblock.com/mt-gox-seizures-linked-silk-road-fed-testimonies/Prevailing sentiment at the time leaned towards the notion that the government was actively cracking down on bitcoin companies, starting with the largest. Recent testimonies by federal agencies indicate that the account seizures were in fact related to the multi-year pursuit of Silk Road operators, rather than a crackdown on money transmission infractions for their own sake. In particular, the written statements not aired on television provide additional insight into the motives behind the seizures.
Notably, the statement by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) states,
“In May 2013, through an interagency taskforce led by ICE in Baltimore, Maryland, three U.S. bank accounts associated with what was then the world’s largest bitcoin exchanger, Japan-based Mt.Gox, which was moving approximately $60 million per month into a number of Internet-based hidden black markets operating on the Tor network, including Silk Road, were seized for violations of 18 U.S.C. § 1960, operating a money service business in the United States without a license. The bulk of the funds were associated with the illicit purchase of drugs, firearms, and child pornography.”
I never heard of an actual case where child pornography was facilitated with bitcoin, only in the minds of bad journalists and politicians do i hear these stories and its getting really annoying.

I think we are at that point already. Whenever I hear "terrorist," "drugs," "money laundering," or "child porn" my instant emotional response is against the person who is trying to use these words to advance their agenda.
That's my response too, but only because i took the effort to see through the propaganda and manipulation. I don't think the general public is at that point yet.

Cameron Winklevoss - It took years for the music industry to sort out what happened with iTunes. VoIP has been disrupting phone industry. faking the volume still means collecting fees for BTC China if that is what they are doing. In my opinion faking the volume is still not nearly as bad as not being able to get your money out, like at Gox.
Funny how all this is occurring 1 day before the Jan 31st doomsday that everyone was talking about
Not really. This asshole is paying the fee to himself.
Maker-Taker fee structure. This new innovative fee structure will maintain a small 0.3% commission for traders, while rewarding market makers with a rebate. (The reward is effectively a “negative” commission, for market makers.) In summary, our company will still not be making money in commission revenue, giving all the benefits to our customers.

There is obviously a strongly negative feeling in this forum against Huobi and OKCoin, and very warm feelings about BTC-China. People keep claiming that Huobi's volume is fake (even though strong evidence of fakery has been shown only at other exchanges); and seem very happy that BTC-China is back in business (even though it will be just another Chinese-only(?) exchange).
May I ask why this bias? Personal reasons, or some technical features that I cannot see?
What is happening is that BTCChina has recently instituted a reward for market-making (google market-maker). This means that a whale can set huge buy and sell orders very close to each other and make money off of others buying and selling into them. This happens on Wall Street all the time, and now Bobby Lee has actually incentivized it. It's a genius move in my opinion, it reduces volatility and increases liquidity.
Now a bot that hasn't taken this recently-added incentive into account is buying and selling into the market-making bots' orders. I am not surprised they found a bot to exploit, BTCChina has been dead for a while. It's probably running off a formula based on volume and its own volume is tricking it into buying and selling. The bot is slowly losing a lot of money though, when the owner wakes up in the morning he will be pissed lol.
How is the bot losing money if he's selling and buying to himself?

There are actually fees on BTCChina.
But according to their press release the fees taken from the "market taker" are given to the "market maker" while BTCChina takes nothing.

Reporters these days........
"One forum member, using the name 'Bitcoinlitcoinbtcltc' said that after 31 January, "Chinese can no longer do anything related to bitcoins. They can not withdraw money from Chinese exchanges. So the bitcoins they have on Chinese exchanges are 'dead'. They can not trade those bitcoins in for real money, or withdraw that money. It's like that money doesn't exist anymore."
This doomsday scenario was echoed by another used called 'Proudhon', who has contributed to the forum for three years. The user said bitcoin's fall from $1,200 to its current level of around $900 will "continue until bitcoins are worth $0."
Much of Proudhon's comments from "confirmed sources" have been dismissed by other forum users, but the sense of unknowing shared across the community is hard to ignore."
Lesson for the
media everyone: Don't trust anything written on the speculation sub-forum!

It is obvious to me that with the BTC China bank deposit re-acceptance news, people began to buy BTC at there.
Immediately, someone sold those exact amount just to keep the price stable. What a trade volume!
Being successful, people gave up making short profit. Significant volume down.
I call it price control... but who and why? when does this "project" finish?
The moment it finishes, price would start to move. I don't think it would be downward.
I think it's just some bot testing
Right. A bot went berserk and sold/bought the same coins again and again.
It was actually two bots. One of the bots exploited the market maker-taker fee structure to extract from the other bot 0,3% for every trade.

I don't understand you. You come to bitcointalk to post this drivel? You don't even have interesting analysis or thought-out speculation. Instead of spending your life trying hating on things, you should try to build something up. You like ripple? Go to ripple forums and talk about ways to improve ripple, be productive.
Is the life you want to live, one of negativity? Is this how you want to spend your time? Do you always try to cut down everyone around you in life? Do you have many friends? Do you care about making the world a better place?
The ignore button was invented because of people like him.

May I suggest heading over to
user/bitcoinwisdom's profile or the official
btcwisdom thread and leave a donation. The guy and his website are awesome, imo: he's quick to react to (reasonable) suggestions (the volume(quote) was suggested by me some days ago, he implemented it in *no* time), his website is up and running with high reliability, and it's a breeze to use (like the very intuitive line tool). well worth a small donation /shameless plug
I agree completely. I have been using tradingview and was blown away after i found bitcoinwisdom.

if robots are the foundation of society, then we should all benefit equally[/i] from them.
Says who? We didn't all benefit equally from the domestication of cows. Some people are lactose intolerant. I really don't understand this obsession with equality that is unheard of in nature. It's completely subjective. Equality in outcomes or equality in opportunity? Equal rewards for effort or for productivity? The former produce what economists call "perverse incentives".
You really should read this:
http://www.tnellen.com/cybereng/harrison.htmlEven equality of opportunity is really bad because when driven to its logical conclusion it means putting everyone on the level of the lowest common denominator.
EDIT: I see now that this is one of the subjects in your link.

I would go even farther. The only way to make everybody perfectly equal is to blow up the planet and leave everybody equally dead and in exactly the same place.
I'd gladly take that over this dystopia you linked.

Be skeptical to this atlasats thing. The MarketWatch "article" has the guy behind it bragging about their own network and blah blah. Meanwhile, it's hosted on Amazon EC2. Amazon EC2 is mostly used to host scams, spambots and that sort of thing. Anyone who runs a webserver will tell you that their logs are full of attack attempts from Amazon EC2, your best of putting a -j DROP on their entire IP-range.
In other news, Crayon Pop is about to release a new single:
http://www.soompi.com/2014/03/12/crayon-pop-takes-off-helmet-and-dons-hanbok-for-upcoming-new-single/#.UyGHF3XZKXlAre they for real? How can they expect to be taken seriously while hosting on EC2. Its so obvious as well their webpage takes forever to load.
I like the fee structure. Would be nice if more exchanges adopted it.

We n33d some ridiculous news it seems to break this trend. But that's not going to happen.
Acceptance from merchants doesn't cut it anymore.
What is needed is use by consumers
And this is not binary like merchant acceptance, it's steady and gradual. All that matters is that it happens at an increasing rate, which I understand is the case.
Hopefully in the not too distant future, travel correspondents will understand that a big element of choosing a holiday location is how widely adopted bitcoin is in the destination.
Breaking: IMF plans to replace SDR with bitcoin.
Price falls 20%!
