You should realize that the same can be said of fiat.  [ ... ] When you start to expend a proportionately larger effort in denouncing the ponzi scheme which is fiat,

I hate banks and I am aware that the world's financial system is a humongous runaway Ponzi scheme (in the strict sense of the word).  You will find that among my tweets.

But I do not see how cryptocoins will save us from it.  They too are fiat money, or rather wannabe fiat money for now. Since one cannot prevent new coins from being started, they will be inflationary too.  New cryptos will be created for the same reason that governments print more money and banks fabricate credit withou assets: because it makes the creator richer at the expense of the users.

And "selling" bitcoin as a safe hedge against inflation, at the present time, makes no sense at all.

Yes, you can't prevent new coins being created but everyone has a choice rather to use it or not.   Now when the Fed Reserve prints out another few hundred billion for their buddies, no one has a choice.  It's directly stealing (hidden tax) from everyone that holds USD.

Yep, Fed's don't like when people trade USD without licensing.  BTC-e gonna get ripped soon or later.  Good news there is Atomic-Trade exchange.  It is new and low volume at them moment but is FINCEN Licensed here in the USA.  Pull BTC and start trading there if you don't want to lose your money.

a lot of us here know how great bitcoin is, and so we expect huge money in the shadows all the time.

I challenge this for two reasons;

- institutional money is timid to enter the exchnges. it is a lot of risk to hold millions of dollars on an unregulated exchange.

- not everyone thinks it's great! we are in good company, but never far from a bitcoin basher. we would be wise to expect corrections to natural fibonacci levels than guessing that the illuminati is ready in the wings to buy billions of dollars of bitcoin!

Let me remind you that facebook bought whatsapp for 19 billion USD.

yup, but which bank is going to quietly facilitate the transfer of 10 billion dollars to BTCe or Bitstamp, that is subject to hacking and scandal.

I trust these exchanges myself, but they are not legitimate enough for institutional money.

I don't trust those exchange at all with anything that I wouldn't be willing to lose.  Wish more people would start using the new Atomic-Trade exchange for BTC/USD.  It does have a FINCEN license and legal to deal in USD.

9. Post 5977221 (copy this link) (by D05GTO) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_12.30h):

As to the question on FINCEN licensed exchanges.

Atomic-Trade is the only FINCEN registered exchange in the USA that I know of.   Verification is better/quicker then coinbases's and I don't really consider Coinbase an exchange.  Only thing with Atomic-Trade is it's new and not a lot of people want to bother with the KYC rules yet.   I'm very surprised BTC-e hasn't been raped by US regulators.  I'm sure it's just a matter of time..could be why prices are dropping so much.  Someone may know something.

The best thing a bulltard could do right now is to remove all the "trolls" from the ignore list and just fucking listen to some arguments.

Ignorance is not bliss.

This is sinking faster than the Titanic and the bulltards are singing happily on their violins, because they removed all the negativity.

To me the ignore option is a way to weed threw the wheat vs the shaft in this thread, and then if they feel they have missed something then open up the floor to the "other" perspective.

I just wanted to add.

I remember playing a game called Bards Tale. There was a chapter in the game where the hero had to listen to confined prisoners in order to free them. However only 1 truly knew the answer. Yet the other 2 made such a convincing argument that they were correct.

If you ended up listening to the one that actually knows the sequence then all the prisoners would not die.

IF you are a bull or bear, be humble and KNOW THIS. Hindsight is 20/20.

It's funny because I played Bards Tale while in college and remember that.  And the 15 minutes it took to load the floppy. haha.

What happened to the glowing ignore button???  I have so many on ignore I can not keep up with them.  Sometimes I click unignore to see if I had ignored on accident.  If the button still glowed it could be assumed it was for good reason without having to see the garbage again.  PLEASE bring back the glowing ignore button.

I agree.. so many ignores and so little time Cheesy  Seems that bashing bitcoin is a full time job for some.  Wonder how much it pays?  Thinking a dollar a day will get you, your very own bitcoin basher. LOL

While I don't agree with all of JorgeStolfi's sentiments. They are at least thought out and not complete fodder.   It's not a good idea to stick your head in the sand but blocking out the noise really helps to get a picture.    Most schools now don't teach critical thinking and coming to your own solutions.   They'll give you the solution and hope you can regurgitate it later on.

I've come to the realization that bitcoin does have enough merits to devote a small amount of my money and time into it.   As to all the trolls, we'll they devote all their time to it so it must be really reeeeaaaaally important to them.

Think most have that sentiment.  I like looking at http://bfxdata.com/sentiment/longshort.php

Looks like the 1hr longs are at 86.6%.  So, that makes it much hard for the price to rise but also gives a good opportunity for a dump.   Although, you can't see any detail in the long positions.  Just another layer to look through.

I don't get the amount and inflation argument at all.

Well, if you look at this as a numbers game.  There are roughly 2 million people only in the US turning 18 this year.  So that's less than 1 BTC per 18 year old.   So, times the amount of total people in the world, the amount of BTC generated per year is a droplet.   Look at the forum here.. over 1k accounts created per day.

You didn't' say it very well and the troll didn't either.   Try again, it's been answered and squashed about 1000 times already.

From early April to the end of May, the going rate for a bitcoin rose from 86 cents to $8.89.    That was in 2011.  Usually get some nice pumps this time of year.. Just saying.  Bitcoin just keeps playing the same tune over and over.  People still refuse to catch on. LOL

Yep, that is a greater than 1 million dollar buy wall sitting on Coinbase since Friday.   Someone would have to sell over 7k BTC to see $220 flat.

If you are really really sure, I believe 796 has 50X leverage.

Why? It was that 31k short getting blown up that added fuel to the rise. LOL  Let them keep shorting.

Yeah, looked a lot more like hitting Iceberg buy orders.  Those were some big icebergs too.  That had to hurt.
