What is this and how do you read it?

Is this saying it's going up to somewhere between 740-745?

This is a good time to sell if it you missed it the other day.  Or if you like to gamble, it might be good for another $40 rise.

Stamp just did a nice rise.... WTF

I watched it jump 60 bucks. I thought something was with my laptop, Numbers were going crazy

Bull Trap: price starts to rise quickly causing ppl to panic buy then shortly after the price dips much lower. They get trapped with the higher price btc instead of buying it on the dip

Yep.

There is also a bear trap: people sell a lot of btc quickly and then begin buying at the low en masse.

Thanks. Learning as I go.
Just to verify the bear trap: they panic sell thinking it's going to go down and then it rises?

so basically just opposites

Such swing. Much mystery.

What'll happen next?  Surely different this time.

If no new bad news comes out of China, what is going to drive the price down this time. One might argue we are no longer overbought.

I'm looking at these two blue boxes and they're the same pattern and we're on a downtrend. so would you continue to read it as it will continue to dip and follow trend/pattern?

TERA hopes so. Technicals says so. However, we could be on the verge of reversing trends back up. We will probably know by Christmas.

Outofservice hopes so also. Sold at 700 waiting to jump back in lower

I don't think the stability has anything to do with new coins. Just a changing of the guard probably. Night shift is leaving and the morning shift is coming in.

Not just last night but the last 3 days. The majority felt there was a large dip coming and then additional news from China came in and the dip wasn't that big. ...Maybe I'm looking at this wrong.

haha, as I was typing that I had a feeling I would get that answer before a real breakdown.

So is that saying the trend looks like it's about to rise?

I think you guys calling a breakout are looking at the wrong line. The current price is nowhere near the original downtrend line (shown in blue). However, the last bounce ended unusually low, creating a new enhanced trendline (in white). The pink area is a resistance. We have broken the white line, but this is of debatable significance, and we have yet to break the blue line.  Also, I would like to see some volume when we do so.

Nice work, Tera.

so are we all going to agree then that satoshi is in fact santa clause and 400k coins are set to fly around the world in a couple days?
No. Satoshi is the NSA and 400k coins aren't going to do anything that any of us here know about.

Holliday, I can't tell if you're joking.  Do you believe the most likely explanation is that Satoshi is the NSA?

It's complicated. I don't think Satoshi is one individual. I think the forum poster satoshi is one individual. I think the concepts combined in the creation of Bitcoin are beyond the abilities of a single individual.

I think a group of individuals with a good amount of resources came together and created Bitcoin. If these people were involved with something like the NSA, I think they did this without the approval or knowledge of their superiors.

I think that what I think doesn't really matter. Smiley

+1 ...Nailed it.

The investment firm has apparently raised even more money than SecondMarket's Bitcoin Invesment Trust. I'll repost with details and firm names once the full story is pieced together.

if someone buys a Significant amount of bitcoin all within a couple days, will that make the price dip or spike?
I read in another post someone saying that it would cause the price to spike but that doesn't make sense to me. Someone buying a lot would cause the price to spike, that's logical, right?

I think it depends on the upcoming news, so far it has more of a "silkroad closed" vibe than a "china bans bitcoin" vibe

I'm familiar with what happened after the China news (that helped me to increase my coin) but not with what happened after the silkroad situation.
Can I ask what happened after the closing of Silkroad?

People panic sold after they heard Silkroad closed down. It resulted in a flashcrash, which showed heavy support. In my opinion one of the triggers for the november rally.

In both cases ppl panic sold and the charts indicate a downward trend, I'm curious to see how low this goes. Thanks for the info.

flashcrash about 50% down. Quickrecovery, then slow increase and 2 weeks later that whole rally-thing to 1250 started.

Sounds good. I'll take one of those.

For anyone who hasn't seen the reason for this flash-crash.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=403499.new#new

Is there anything new in that 'news'? Isn't it the same situation as announced in December just clarified?

I didn't see a flash crash, I saw a correction.

I suppose we'll all know in 24hrs.

People see this as a possible lead up to a crackdown. Just as last time in the space of a few days there were multiple announcements which crashed the market. The deadline for withdrawing fiat from the Chinese markets is looming and it seems like more actions might be taken.

I agree. We'll know long before Jan 31st what the end game for China is.

Well after the Simpsons did it you had to see this coming.

The Good Wife was first, ages ago!

I saw the first show ages ago when it came out. But then someone told me Bitcoin was the subject of about 3 of the shows. Like the story was in more than one show.

Was that true? Do I need to go back and watch it?

This past Monday night was the 1st time on Blacklist, it was a great scene and a clear plug/advertisement if you want to look at like that. I've heard it 2 times (maybe 3) on Almost Human.
