Try not selling all your coins at once, that's most common mistake.

If you sell small part only and price continue to go down you can sell more on the way down. If it goes up, you won't have too much to buy and lose.

Selling and buying all at once is never good thing.

Alright thanks, I'll try that!

Not only are Gox bux worth less than fed bux, but now gox btc is worth less than blockchain btc.
So diff closes.

Yes, but what changed today? From what I've gathered it's been useless for quite some time now.

some of you guys panic selling are way too easily manipulated

it's so easy to hold. i mean it honestly boils down to opening a tab of netflix, ordering some pizza, and occasionally tabbing back to the exchanges/forum to see everyone jerk off over cheap coins and the following rebound

I keep seeing this being posted over and over but I still don't get why it's being spammed. If I bought back in now I would have made 1,5 BTC for not holding. Is it getting spammed because it is in your best interest that people hold?

Why do people panic like this because of stupid GOX? Haven't they learned anything??

How long until recovery? What do you think? Smiley

Not really sure how many ppl actually did panic, i am starting to think that more and more ppl just playing the game, trying to accumulate as much coins as possible.

I think this is true for a lot of people with small-medium holdings. If you have 5-100 coins times like these are excellent opportunities to increase your holdings. For a 20 year old kid who's got 1k+ coins and just got rich there may be a lot of panic involved if he sees his newly made fortune drop to zero.

The huge offload on btc-e yesterday is probably a good example of panic.

The thing about this is you needed to send it last week - like last monday then hope it arrives in less than a week - which it won't.

Well I have made one deposit to gox (in december) and I think that took less than a week. Someone who wired 50k in this thread says it takes around 48 hours

Because I was completely new to bitcoins and didn't know everyone hated gox. Also I seem unable to get verified at stamp

Whales usually don't sell into no support cause they'd get very poor value.  Instead, they wait for a big wall.  That's why I always laugh when people are like "oh hey, we have good support here... oh crap, someone just blew through it."

And regular folk moving a coin or two don't matter since they can't make the market move anyway.

here come the walls. 300 btc at 490.

I have nice amount of fiat still sitting on exchanges. Not sure what to make of this now, tbh. BTC-e fucked me a bit with not going below 500.

Probably isn't over yet though, we'll see. Not much happening at all since the news which is kinda weird

Not sure if this has been posted already, but Erik Voorhees has put a statement out on Reddit:

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1yv6ph/some_words_for_my_friends/

Quote
Hello friends,
MtGox is gone. So let's prepare ourselves.
On Tuesday, and for the rest of the week, all hell will break lose in the media. It will be blamed on MtGox, it will be blamed on Bitcoin, it will be blamed on the "bug," and it will, more than anything, be blamed on the "lack of regulation." Pundits and "experts" of all types will weigh in on the calamity. It will be world news in a matter of hours.
Get ready, because it will be an ugly week.
For all of you who lost money, my heart goes out to you. Some people lost a little, some lost a fortune. It will make people sick, and depressed, and full of grief. Personally, I had over 550 BTC in Gox. I will never get any of that back. If misery loves company, then we'll be enjoying a grand feast today.
I should have known better, of course. I take responsibility for leaving those funds with an entity that had proven incompetence repeatedly. I chose to ignore even my own warnings, for nothing more than the sake of convenience.
Gox is still at fault, to be sure, but I have learned the lesson. I hope it is not such an expensive lesson for others. And for all you observers, please take a moment to consider it as well.
Be mindful, however, that the wrong lessons are not learned, for that would be the true tragedy, indeed.
Let me suggest that the lesson is not that Bitcoin is broken. Bitcoin is fine.
Similarly, the lesson is not that security is impossible. Those who know what they are doing, can achieve it and help others to do so.
The lesson is not that nobody can be trusted. There are countless good men and women in this community who are worthy of trust, and some of the very best people I've ever met.
And finally, the lesson is not that we ought to seek out "regulation" to save us from the evils and incompetence of man. For the regulators are men too, and wield the very same evil and incompetence, only enshrined in an authority from which it can wreck amplified and far more insidious destruction. Let us not retreat from our rising platform only to cower back underneath the deranged machinations of Leviathan.
The proper lesson, if I may suggest, is this: We are building a new financial order, and those of us building it, investing in it, and growing it, will pay the price of bringing it to the world. This is the harsh truth. We are building the channels, the bridges, and the towers of tomorrow's finance, and we put ourselves at risk in doing so.
We are at risk from accidents. We are at risk from fraud, from corruption, and from evil. We are at risk from journalists seeking headlines and from politicians seeking power and glory. We are at risk from the very market we are trying to build - a market which cares not about our portfolio, our ambitions, or our delicate sympathies.
For all these risks, devastation will befall us repeatedly. Some of us will be discouraged. Some will be ridiculed and insulted. Some will be tricked, or swindled. Some of us will be crushed or caged. We will be set upon by all manner of antagonists, repeatedly, for a long time.
So why do we do it? Why do we build these towers that fall down upon us? Why do we toil and strain and risk our precious time, which is the only real wealth we possess?
Because the world needs what we're building. It needs it desperately. If that matters to you, as it does to me, then hold to that thought. You will see through the smoke, and your wounds will heal.
So shake it off, brothers, for this won't be the last calamity endured before the win.
Tonight, my heart is with you all.
Tomorrow, my head is down. My eyes are open. And I am building.
Toward peace and freedom,
-Erik Voorhees

You want it to go down AGAIN? Just so you can buy low? Really? What is it with you people?
Stop being so greedy. You've had all the chance in the world to buy low but just like many people here you probably set your buy orders way too low because you really worried about paying 10 bucks more.
Now you missed the train and you want Bitcoin to go crash again just so you can buy your cheap coins. Which of course wouldn't happen anyway since you once again will set your buy orders way too low.

Look at the precision which satoshi used when writing his posts.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=3;sa=showPosts

Punctuation and grammar is sophisticated and exact.

Then look at the letter on this page
http://www.businessinsider.com/dorian-satoshi-letter-and-train-2014-3#ixzz2vCSq2huK

No way, these are by the same person.

Double space after punctuation is same though. It's rare to see someone to hit double space after it and it's there on both satoshi's posts and that letter.

I'm Satoshi too then. Wink

Pretty damn weak support to keep it over 550

What's a good entry point to buy LTC? Put buy orders at 17,5 but it's been dropping quite a bit

I wouldn't really buy it yet.. the Huobi hype is over, it will move now with Bitcoin again, and since Bitcoin is most probably going south, LTC will follow it, probably even more aggressive.

Well I sure am happy I pulled my buy orders now!  Cheesy

Btw I saw some people expected a break out to $630, why? Right now there's 7,4k btc standing in the way of reaching 660 and 4,4k from 560. Seems more likely we're going down?

Both BTC and LTC taking a beating. Fortunately I went full fiat a few days ago

I'm usually fairly pessimistic but now there's a lot more support on the buy side than sell (opposite of last few days). Really don't think we'll break 540 anytime soon

I might be up for a bet :-) (I am fairly drunk at the moment, but still think I am capable of decent decisions  Wink )
How does 0.5 BTC sound that we"ll break $540 on Bitstamp within the week.

Haha nah, I've been wrong way too many times in predicting swings to take such a bet

Not sure where you are getting your data from but you should look at this:

https://www.cryptocoincharts.info/v2/pair/btc/usd/bitstamp/10-days

The ratio (bid/ask) hasn't moved from around 1:1.44 the last two weeks.

We'll test the four hundreds soon.

I'm just looking at bitcoinity and in the immediate future the bid side is looking healthier

If it breaks 521 now it's probably going at least down to 501

Will BTC recover ? if so how long and when ?

Depends if you ask fonzie or billiejean. According to fonzie it's probably going down the drain and if you ask billiejean we are heading towards 1 mill/coin within a few weeks

You can't be serious...

You felt like that ridiculous wall was solid and not going to be pulled?

It wasn't pulled though

yep. There was a 2300btc sell.

No, that 1,000+ wall was pulled.  It was pulled and then turned into a sell down into the support that formed in behind it.

No one sold through that wall, the wall was removed and turned into the sell.

No.. it wasn't. lol

hm why is btc-e going full retard

traders on btc-e are a little more emotional and have more happy trigger fingers than on bitstamp/bitfinex.

Funny. Isn't this the first time in all the big downswings that btc-e is actually below stamp?
