so the BTC-e issue is what a 'big shrug' to the bitcoin world....price is not affected...is that what people seem to see/think now?

would be nice not to be at the 'whim' of another gox issue that slams price down for a year

(still, have the bcc fud to look forward to and the 2mb thing in 3 months.fun times)

btc...the hot mess girlfriend you can't leave.....sigh

Seems like the bulls are undeterred, no matter what obstacle is thrown at them.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3Nh5T61mQU&t=0m56s

I am wondering if the big investors will not believe btc-e is down until a reliable source confirms it.

VERY surprised to see price up when waking up this morning. Do we think it needs to hit the MSM before price reacts??
I just can't believe in bitcoin keeping this upward trend. There's a lot of incertitude in the near horizon. Worst of them being the btc-e news.
How could euphoria come back at the same time ?

That or btc-e dumps were the cause of the price fall. Which doesn't necessarily mean it cannot happen again in the near future...
Holders may wait MSM and/or the next dump.

So it looks like people are selling alts for btc to get the "free BCC" when the fork occurs. My guess is they will dump their new bcc asap and buy back their original Alts. Not a bad strategy except for the viabtc stage and the fact that i expect all Alts to rise pretty fast as these speculators come back.
If everyone is buying bitcoin to dump bcc, where is the value in bcc coming from?
That's why I don't like current market.

23. Post 20600551 (copy this link) (by YamashitaRen) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_15.16h):

How to lose 200$ :
1) Buy BCH on high-volatility Bitfinex with a "325$" Market Order. BCH are bought at 331.
2) Being stunned by the order not doing what you wanted it to be and look at price slowly failing to ~312$ and wondering what went wrong. (Tip of  the day, don't use market orders on very high volatility markets like you would usually.)
3) Miss a few opportunities to halve the losses with the few ~320$ bumps.
4) Stop sell at ~311. (This could actually have been a not so bad idea.)

A few minutes later, it happens that dip was just under ~311 wall. Was ready for that but too much burnt to do anything.
I look at price being ~305 and getting momentum upwards, thinking that it's a good time to buy. Some minutes later, I'm typing this post and price went just over ~331

Is that me being really unable to stay synced with the market or just doing dumb/noob mistakes over and over ?

Alright, I'm getting bearish now.

Let's all remind ourselves of the price on January 1st: about $970.  So the price has multiplied by about 3.5 since the start of the year, and $1000 was pretty much the ATH before.

I know there's SegWit and everything but this price is ridiculous.  I've been buying a lot of stuff with it now.  It's not like some casual investors on the sidelines are shoving up the price by hundreds of dollars in a matter of hours.

Not the best timing, but I have BTC/USD short open from $4041. Target is low $3000's.

Where have you placed the stop loss?

I adjust it based on market movement. Since we've made $3880, SL is now at $4201.

If price goes above $4100 again, based on market movement I suggest you adjust it at low $5000's.

I covered at $3840. Re-shorting this pop here. I don't hold my trades very long.

You must be crazy to short this market. I have seen countless of people blow up their accounts.

Shorting on margin is suicide, he is probably playing with a few hundred or thousand and will panic buy back at a loss of btc.
Seems clever to me.
We all waited for this correction, here it is.
Why not profit from it ?

On another subject, now I hope BTC will stay above 4k so I can go snooze a little.

I am neutral.

Well then, you are just in it to make more fiat. Like the stock market, you don't really care about the underlying asset.

Not saying that is good or bad. But then I would say you are definitely not one of the minds that are reinforcing Bitcoin's belief system as a (better?) form of money.
I'm neutral too. I'm here to increase my assets "real" (as in current and future, recognized) value.
But I'm no "die hard Core supporter".
In my opinion cryptos are the future but maybe Core can't or will not be the crypto of the future.
I'll support whatever crypto ends being the "best" one. If Core need to be replaced and die out, then it will die.

I shorted at 4600, after the ATH.
I bet on staying sideways until this whole China drama settle. If it goes over 5k in this time frame, then market is still definitely bullish.

But you know, I see a lot of posts here "we reached the bottom, it's going back up, etc..." since we reached ATH. So far, I don't see any strong market movement supporting theses allegations...

Buy at 3016, sell at 3005, don't buy back when reversal begins...

Well obviously!
Weak hands always end up burnt.

Yep ^^^^^
Feeling so dumb, just wasn't in the mood to trade today  Lips sealed
Have to admit I didn't expect such a rebound after such a slow bottoming. Guess Fibonacci was right all along...

Nothing more and whoever went massively long at that point (JP Morgan) knew exactly what they were doing.
Only thing that makes me feel better about missing this bottom is that I wouldn't have had (didn't had) this technical analysis and would have ended buying like 1/8 of what my margin balance would have allowed me. 1/8 profit is like 0 profit when you compare it to 8/8 or even 4/8 profit...

@bones261
If you think bitcoin will go up, buy back.
If you think it will go down or are unsure, stay fiat.

I'm unsure (for now), I stay fiat and do quick trades with my margin balance.

Theses bullish trend...
(I missed buy target but it's okay)
Now if I don't buy, I feel like bitcoin will take 100+ $ overnight. And if I bought, I'd feel like bitcoin could take 200- $ overnight  Grin

What are your thoughts on this distribution?
I would have loved to be an early adopter... Too bad I only heard about it during Mt. Gox bubble...

Hard to believe we reached 3k during the fud when today China is at 3.4k (while their situation is worse than what was rumored).

But... I was watching the chart... all of a sudden one big green line! It has to be a coordinated thing by someone with a lot of money to make it raise like that... happened in 3 minutes

Nope, it happened so fast because it broke out the downtrend line.
I had my finger on "buy" when it hit 3800 and I was like "naaah it's a trap, don't fall in it".
Yeah. A trap.  Roll Eyes

I had the good idea to open a short yesterday, for the night, but I protected it with a stop buy instead of an oco order...

We had a 1.5k bullish run since 3k. Now it's time for a little correction and check what are the new resistances.
