InstantDEXInstantDEX is a service built on top of Nxt’s Multigateway service and Nxt Asset Exchange and has been shown in a proof of concept to have achieved ~5 second transaction times prior to any optimization. The goal of InstantDEX is to allow for real time trading of any Nxt Asset against any other Nxt Asset, not just Multigateway assets, and also NXT itself.
After optimization, the goal is to achieve transactions in the ~3 second timeframe. The Multigateway will need to be trusted to redeem assets but almost all of InstantDEX will be decentralized. Due to the nature of the transactions, those with good internet connections will get better performance than those with bad internet connections. InstantDEX is still in development and the discussion thread can be found at here.

It is almost 5:00 am in China, and suddenly there is a rally with ~3500 BTC either already bought or in raised bids. It does not seem to be coming from the West.
could this be a whale starting the nxt rally or what? is there good news or something?

But it's time to stop looking at the fake chinese exchanges.

I don't know, but the way the volume behaves on that exchange is very strange.
of course the 0% fees play a factor aswel.
im in no ways a day trader.. but look at bitstamp.. draw line from may 29 2012 to 9 jan 2013 and another from may 29 2012 to 30th of sept 2013(big red dip before rise), and a 3rd from the last low of around 340 to the last candle.. all on 3 day chart.. if bitcoin is rising with exponential growth.. would it not make sense that these lines go more and more vertical with each rise? and would explain this sudden burst in buying...?

I am also bearish on LTC and DOGE. What do you think about Nxt? I am very bullish on that one. Aminorex don't you think that Proof of Stake is a much more valuable than privacy considering the launch of DarkWallet?
nxt is taking it to a whole new level. not just anony tx's but privicy levels.. also 2 fiat <> nxt exchanges adopting nxt into their system, point of sale system with 3d printable terminals will be used with one, the asset exchange is going to become the first decentralised high speed trading platform where you trade real coins,, not iou's, but real coins, by depositing to multigateway's (decentralised escrow service not controlled by any third party or central body). automated transactions(turing complete) will most likely be implemented long before ethereum and transparent forging has had another major mile stone reached on the way to instant transactions at 1000 tx's per second. many many MANY other huge developments in the works. if you guys arent extremely bullish on nxt. go read up about it! numerous companies being built on top of nxt including decentralised encrypted messaging app(nxt mobile applications company) and decentralised encrypted email. https://nxtforum.org/

Building Quality Markets for Digital Currencies
A secure, state-of-the-art exchange platform built by Wall Street veterans for transacting digital currencies
Powered by a platform deployed by some of Wall Street's largest proprietary trading firms and institutions
The exchange central book matches orders based on price/time priority. No fees to transfer money in and out.
two-factor authentication, cold storage of crypto-currency, multi-tiered multi-firewall architecture
Forget about centralized exchanges, problems with legislation or trust are always going to come up. Nxt has a decentralized Asset Exchange running, and this is surely the future.
how does a decentralized exchange work for transactions involving fiat? surely there must be a central party that holds the fiat. it seems that fiat transactions demand a level of trust.
there will be fiat assets on it but they will be issued by a central party id say. bitcoin <> fiat exchanges will be getting better and better and more reliable over time... theres a nxt <> fiat exchange going into beta very soon which includes a point of sale system also. id say they will issue assets. seems a very serious company! i can very easily see the nxt AE having more daily volume for btc <> alts and crypto <> fiat then any other trading platform by the end of 2014. it wont be hindered by transaction times ether due to instantdex(allows high speed trading and only fees when a trade is made!)
oh ya.. not to mention forex trading.. i think

that price manipulation in the screen shot was when mtgox was going out of business so they wanted to hold the market up, right? this sounds like fear mongering to me...

Just for those newbies who aren't sure who to listen to when making decisions. Quotes were from like a week or so ago.
some one should keep stats on whos made the most accurate calls and post them here every so often.. perhaps have a group bet, every big trader that wants to be in, throws in a bitcoin(or what ever ye call a reasonable bet lol keep it low so a good few can get in on it, nothin too serious) and who ever makes the most accurate calls in 6 months wins.. seems like everyone thinks they are the best so why not have a competition that also tells the noobs who to listen to!

in the u.s., hold everything in a roth vehicle. requires foresight.
Looks like he's in the UK (hello...)
As far as I can tell, you're taxed on income at the exchange rate at the time of earning.
Then if your bitcoins appreciate and you cash out, you are liable for capital gains on them, minus the £10k allowance of course.
There
may will of course be ways around this for the tax savvy. I just haven't needed to find out yet.
ireland actually.. its really a grey area here.. no official statement has been released as to how to handle the tax on cryptos.. and also.. it they state bitcoin and not cryptocurrencies.. would that not be a loop hole so i can sach out to euro from another crypto?

That is a very interesting point. NXT is about to get a fiat exchange and that raises possibilities for me...
I suspect they'd take a dim view and I vaguely recall "bitcoin and bitcoin-like" language, but you might be onto something. But if there's no regulation for Ireland then I guess you might get away with it. I'd still be inclined to put the relevant percentage in a safe interest-paying asset, in case they come knocking retrospectively.
ya i was thinking that.. i was also thinking buy silver off asset exchange, get it shipped to my house(its an option provided by the issuer of silver tokens) and bring it to a bullion to sell. but would they sell it for cash? i preferably dont want it going into my bank..(reasons other than tax)

@kehtolo
it wouldnt surprise me one bit if they did do something THAT stupid! iv learnt to never underestimate the lack of IQ among politicians in ireland. they sold off the rights to drill oil that was found in the irish sea to a foreign company for an absolute fraction of the value of the oil.. i think they would have gotten 100 times the value or more if they had just contracted a company in to drill it for them.. retards.. and now we pay extortionate prices for everything and pay the bill the feking bankers and property developers left behind them when they fekd off to spain! the one guy (quinn, private family owned company) who brought more jobs to ireland than some of the large corporations stayed in ireland. went broke. and ended up in jail while the other guys fekd off with their money scott free. i hope crypto brings governments crashing down.. its god damn personal at this stage!
@cassius
im going to look into how much can be exported from america and imported to ireland, and the amounts that can be sold for cash with in a certain period of time. i think that may be more viable than trying to stay under bank limits and it solves other issues too.
ps. im 22 and only a have a GF who doesnt care about the money so think im good on the x-wife side of things haha

I bought a lot of PPC. Everyone who feels hatred towards me, should dump all their PPC to hurt me.
Since you seem to be a troll, how could we rely upon anything that you say? For example, you may be providing misinformation.
I had my say. Now it's your turn to do whatever you think is best.
Lol, ignore it is. And I already sold my PPC for BTC when PPC peaked.
At various points over the last 7 month, i have made various fairly small purchases of alt coins through BTC-e. In total, I bought about 2.5 BTC worth of the 7 alt coins that are listed on BTC e. I have just waited, and hoped that they would go up, and each one of them has performed much worse than BTC. Currently, if I were to cash all of them out, I would probably get a little less than 1 BTC.
After witnessing this depreciation, I was thinking that I would wait for the next boom in BTC prices and then see if the various alts will appreciate along with BTC or appreciate at a higher rate than BTC, at a certain point. Then I would cash out as a whole at the time that the Alts appreciate higher than BTC.
Given the proliferation of a large number of other alts, I am beginning to have my doubts that the ones listed on BTC e are going to go through any kind of considerable appreciation phase. Accordingly, fairly frequently, in recent days, I have been thinking that maybe, just maybe it would be better to just cut my losses on these various alts. On the other hand, I could just HODL all of them, in the rare event that one of them may take off and become the silver to BTC's gold,,,,,, HM? what a dilemma!!!
the alts traded on btc-e are going nowhere! did you do any research into the coins before purchasing? doing research on alts will usually lead you to the ones with potential! buying random ones in the hope they rise, IMO, is a huge mistake!
if you do research into the alts.. you will see that nem and nxt are going to be the big bois of the alt world.. nem is traded on nxt AE so you can kill 2 birds with one stone..
knowing what event or anticipated event causes a rise in value and knowing before the rise is what makes the most money..
do research into the above mentioned.. and you will IMO earn back the money you lost. find out why the coins have continually fallen in value aswell.. would a VC buy into a company he knows nothing about, just because everyone else is buying it? no, the VC will want to know more than everybody else.

"Just normal market behaviour".
I believe it is because of the auction. You need to stop thinking people are rational, they are stupid! This is why auction has so much influence on price.
Here's the really stupid thing. The SR auction is about BITCOINS, and bitcoins
only. Yet altcoins like Litecoin and other alts are being forced down by the whales too, causing people to panic for their beloved alts as well. Even Dogecoin is being sold off, which has absolutely nothing to do with the SR auction.
This is why I referred to the community as pathetic. My choice of adjective remains, until I observe otherwise. I guess I'll be waiting a decade or more.

nem and nxt havnt budged! lol perhaps not all of the crypto community is pathetic

nem is 22/23 place on market cap. with out even having released any software what so ever.! its also valued a 1/4 of the real value as its down as only having 1000 stakes when 4000 stakes are priced into the market.

I think we still have to wait till we cross again 610 mark, before that really not recommending buying.
So... Wait 'till the price goes up to buy? Do you also wait for the price to drop to sell?? Brilliant trading strategies..
very very few investors - even professional ones - are capable of behaving like Warren Buffett, and buy when others are selling and sell when others are buying. Most move with the herd and with conventional wisdom.
I recently tried to do some trading with little money i earned from signature campaign, and i am really bad with this, i lose money on most of my trades, so i stopped and i am now convinced that my strategy (buy and hold) is the best for me.
i was the same months ago. have since made magnitudes more from just buying promising coins cheap and hodling them for ages. i think its well known that those who just buy and hold end up the winners in the long run(bar the few who are actually good at day trading)

I just had some trouble converting the 6 PM EDT time to my local time but I think I got it.
The auction ends in about 3 hours, am I right?
Can somebody confirm?
Yes, you are right, 3 more hours baby and than BTC price will be released from the effect of FUD people.
would it not be in buyers interest to say they paid more so come tax time they pay less tax? Wouldn't that be reason enough to let it slip out that you paid above market price even if you didn't?

You don't pay taxes on coins you haven't sold.
but they will sell eventually and then they will have to put down a price for what they bought at right?

I've been doing some analysis on the latest craze, Proof of Stake coins like NXT. On the surface they look like a good deal, with innovation and some great ideas. But they appear to suffer from one very fatal flaw. Proof of Work coins are backed by energy. Those providing the Proof (miners here) must choose one coin on which to spend their energy to provide it. Proof of Stake coins have no such protection.
You cannot double-spend your energy and use it to mine multiple Proof of Work coins (e.g. X Bitcoin and Y Litecoin mined with the same energy expenditure as mining just X Bitcoin or just Y Litecoin). New coins may pop up, but they must fight over the limited supply of miners/energy. This fight over a limited resource ensures you will not see an infinite number of Proof of Work coins pop up running in parallel. This backing by energy ensures we will not see inflation through endless chains of PoW coins.
Proof of Stake coins do not have this protection. Those providing the Proof of Stake, the holders of coins, can freely hold an unlimited number of different PoS currencies, rather than being forced to choose to mine only one with each unit of electricity. Each PoS coin causes no pressure on the others. Thus, an infinite number of PoS coins can flood the market. With no limited resource (miners/energy) being competed for by all the PoS coins, the value that investors look to store in such coins will be diluted more and more over time as new PoS coins are created. This makes PoS coins worthless as a store of value, regardless of the individual characteristics of any particular PoS coin.
In short, Satoshi was clearly thinking long-term with Bitcoin, or he got very, very lucky. Either way, we are all very much in his debt for getting it so right on the first go.
pure and utter nonsense!

i think its a miner/mining company that has been mining a monster rig and only sold enough coins to cover costs, and because he knows if he waits 3-6 months the coins hes already mined are worth more than when he mined them, (something like, sell from nov - jan, hold from jan - next bull run) and therefor makes more profit on his profit. perhaps now he is simply selling coins he mined after the price fell bellow 600? - and now will the money to develop/buy new mining gear to stay ahead of the other miners. not too outlandish is it?

A bubble is not a bubble on a microscoping time scale. It takes months.
But to answer your question: There are always bear traps in a bull market. There are always bull traps in a bear market.
If you think every little swing is a trend reversal you will lose money on every trade.
no thats not what i mean. i know about bull trends bear trends and reversals. i dont day trade but i know when longer term trends are trading etc.
i mean on a longer scale. if btc goes up in value enough to cause some alts to be over valued in terms of usd, you would expect a sell off of the alt to equalise the price right? but when btc goes parabolic (november run) theres a shit ton of money that flows in and you would expect some to reach alts causing a rise in alts. so it seems like it would make most sense if there was a slow decline in alts first(for the first few weeks) and then in the last weeks a fast growth as "new money" flows into the alts.? im wondering am i right in saying that? is that what happened in november?

guess its mostly manipulation what we see right now?!
You get the prize. The whale held the price down, the whale removed his fake walls and then the whale bots simply kicked in and auto-bought. Hoping to spark an uptrend. Now the same whales bots are selling back down due to lack of buying pressure (ie., REAL market buyers).
I'm convinced now that for the time being, this market is still in a lull. I'm not seeing any real buyers back in this market yet, just whale bots buying/selling to themselves. The lack of volume and real demand is telling.
Lack of sellers more telling. This market is going up.
I hope you are right, and I'm also in the camp that's not selling. But I won't be convinced that real support is growing along with the buying until I see what happens during the next FUD shit storm (you know it's always right around the corner). If support holds at say $580 or higher, then I'll agree that the market is getting more resistant to panic selling.
We just broke up out of consolidation by $40 in less than an hour. We are going to at least $650. It's a no brainer.
If it was a no brainer for most we will already be @ 650$; the trend is very positive, the sentiment is positive, the news have been positive and the charts indicate it is more likely that we go up than down

Alright, the Tim Draper/Vaurum news looks legit enough:
http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/breaking/sns-rt-us-usa-bitcoin-20140701,0,4038036.storyStill, he didn't mention the price, despite informing Reuters that he won the auction.
My conclusion: Either he's trying to build suspense, waiting some more before releasing the price he paid. If no such thing happens, I'll suspect that the price per coin was perhaps somewhat above market that day (~600), but below current market, and he'd rather not disclose the exact number to not cause a crash.
Not necessarily bearish, btw. A ~600 floor would be pretty great long term. OTOH, if it turns out we're ~$50 above auction price right now, we might see a small-ish correction near term.
i don´t really think that more than 40 wealthy entities
all just made bids
below market price or just slightly above it, letting a 600ish bet win
every chunk. for a single bidder to win 'em all, he must have picked a higher price.
if you are right than draper is one hell of a poker player. my guess is way above 700.
same. atleast one or two others must have thought oh il go 50 60 above market, it wont matter after the bull run, i just want these coins. the draper comes in and bids up all the lots at 900-1000 like a mutha f*&king boss.
edit: i dont think this situation could get any more bullish.

Well it's a bit different cause there was no big crash like when silkroad closed. November was my first bubble, and I started feeling really bored. Then price started to go up. Few dollars each day. Then like 10 bucks per day, and I was thinking 'holy shee!'.

Read the willyreport. Can't refute facts.
edit: Break 655 tonight? LOL you need to stay away from trading.
i dont trade lol havnt in a long time, my money is tied up in things too promising to sell. regardless of what btc does.

im not sure i fully believe the willy report, btc is going through exponential growth, bots or no bots. its finally making out into mainstream use, which is going to pick up speed very rapidly. as more and more good news comes in, it will bring more. and people/companies/wealthy feckers will all start jumping on the band wagon once they realise that the "btc is dead" reports by mainstream media were wrong.. so wrong.
so perhaps the last bubble was bots, or china, who knows, silk road before that, we probably wont ever know, we can only extrapolate what may cause the next one. which imo will just be a snow ball of good news and just general mainstream uptake of btc which will in turn feed on its self.
im not a trader so dont shoot me for this one, but for the sake of possibly being right lol i predict we will see a boom, peek by the end of aug at the latest reaching >5k. then the ETF comes out and we see a second bubble no more than 2.5 - 3 months after the peak of the last and the second peaking by xmas. price per btc = ~12-15k between jan - feb 2015 with an ath of ~20k.
wishful thinking?

No. He even said his security wasn't all that great. Passwords in a plain text file that was in a dropbox, which the password to that dropbox was not changed after heartbleed.
wow.. thats rediculous. plaintext file on dropbox? he seems smarter than that. I have heard people getting their coins stolen on dropbox, people suspect it is dropbox workers who have access to those files.
One would think his personal security tactics would be very strong to guard his fortune. but wow
I honestly think people with access to the dropbox cloud working there are "mining" through the data looking for BTC
related files. I changed my password to a 30 char COMPLEX password after heartbleed and one day one of my wallets
was suddenly drained. I completely forgot that I had an original backup of the wallet from long back saved in there
from like super early days of starting BTC and I hadnt encrypted the wallet file. No one in the world had access to the
files or wallet password besides that file I had totally forgot about, except dropbox. It was one of the few things I hadnt
put into the truecrypt container unfortunatley.
So yes, I have a feeling people working for dropbox are searching for .dat wallet files and text files with BTC related text.
how much did you lose? hope it wasn't alot, considering it was from early days
Luckily only 0.8BTC. It really peeved me though because it was just another BTC scam to add to the never ending pile.
Its tiresome trying to hide stuff in a way that isnt touchable by anything, then when I do connect the laptop to the internet
for a transaction, I always worry someone MAY have access at that split second. To paranoid now.
Ive moved to Armory wallet now and have my wallet on a laptop never connected to the internet and the wallet backups
are on USB drives in my safe. Im still worried one day Ill see the wallet drained. It seems like there is never enough you can
do now to keep you BTC safe. There is always another scam around the corner now.
Well that depends on if you are sending your bitcoin to a 3rd party. That is very risky.
Trusting anyone besides yourself is an accident waiting to happen.
the first totally decentralized trustless crypto currency exchange platform will be released very soon so that will eliminate third party exchange scams and hacks.

Crashing into the low 500s by this time next week. The pressure seems to be more towards the downside and we all know that there is bad news coming -- Bitfinex isn't prepared for the 21st, Lawsky... even if it turns out to be good news... will be confusing enough to seem like bad news initially, China seems bored, and the degree of market manipulation has seemed to intensify as of late. Sprinkle a little FUD on top of this along with the larger batch of Silk Road coins strung around the market's next like an albatross (and the fact that we had a bump following not even really knowing what the bid price was on the smaller batch bitcoin auction... we just extrapolated out our backsides). Oh yes, and add in the fact that even with great news we can't seem to break towards the upside... if we are going anywhere near term it is down.
By the way, I am generally positive for our long term and even 6 months out prospects. But, next couple weeks look like they'll be tough going.

They create a virtual currency, even if it is decentralized. This includes creating altcoins. In fact, Satoshi would have commited a crime creating Bitcoin without registration. (200.2n5)
I don't agree with this interpretation.
200.2m: Virtual Currency means any type of digital unit that is used as a medium of exchange or a form of digitally stored value or that is incorporated into payment system technology.
200.2n5: controlling, administering, or issuing a Virtual Currency.
So, by their definition, VC is the currency, not the protocol. Satoshi has published Bitcoin the protocol, but he has never "issued" Bitcoin the currency.
Mastercoin and Ripple could be in trouble, though. And Nxt, NEM, any coin that IPO'd and possibly any coin that was instant/ninja mined.
I would also say that ALL proof-of-stake coins are "controlled and administered" by the developers in order to bypass the nothing-at-stake problem therefore giving them administrator privileges over the blockchain (
for example, Vericoin devs just forked their blockchain to undo the theft from Mintpal).
Legitimately mined coins would be fine IMO. I expect sidechains and spinoffs would be fine too. I'm not sure about proof-of-burn coins (e.g., Counterparty).
nem didnt ipo.
in an ipo you get a certain amount of coins based on investment.
with nem you basically paid a tiny fee to register as a stake holder and by doing that you get an equal share. the fee gradually increased over time so people did not get x amount of coins based on money invested.
and what vericoin did cant be done to nxt due to rolling checkpoints. its all in the whitepaper but obviously no one reads those anymore.

Nxt has been pretty steady in its first year.
Now we will see how it does in its 2nd year.
That is basically all one can say.
I hope it continues to develop.
Back to btc, this year is going to be interesting.
Oh and I have not been posting past month really (because I have a life outside of crypto thank god)
But I see that many of the trolls have been in full flow with their shit all through the holiday period (tbh how sad for them, honestly) but anyways may I ask, did I miss anything of interest, posted by normal real posters that are making genuine contributions? (To save me going back through the pages and pages and pages of troll shit)
Hope you all had a good Christmas, New years, and all of that.
It was steady, but I hate such troll predictions like "Bitcoin goes down, NXT will go to the moon" etc.
As you said the trolls here.
i think its down to the monetary system thats going live very soon. youl be able to build coins on top of nxt and the coins can be pos, pow or what ever.. i kind of see it like sidechains for nxt just with out the chains. i think the coins built on top can have their own functions, distribution rates/methods and all the variations that alt coins have but they will be secured by the nxt blockchain. as far as i know you have to "lock" a certain amount of nxt coins in order to release the monetary system coins or something too..
not 100% sure how it works but thats the jist of it.. nxt basically bet bitcoin to sidechains and removed the need for secondary/tertiary/etc chains and eliminates the risk of a "sidechain" becoming the mainchain. im not so sure nxt will be seeing a "moon shot" any time soon but with recent developments it may be worth keeping an eye on.

shmadz: Are you still profitable as a miner at these prices? At what prices do you stop being in profit considering your electricity cost?
Serious question not trolling or anything

If I were able to write of the capital cost of the hardware, as well as a percentage of my electricity and rent, then yeah, I think I would be able to fully cover any supposed "gains" or "income" that they might want to tax me for.
So yeah, at this price and difficulty it's pretty much a wash.
If you were to consider only electricity, consider the case of a single Jupiter.
About 3TH/s / 320288.938 th/s for the entire network gets you =0.0000093665 of the daily 3600 coins, so roughly =0.0337195536 per day
At ten cents per kWh and about 2kw times 24 hours that's like 4.80 per 0.0337195536 so about =142.350638948 per bitcoin right now...
Of course, in practice, it fluctuates wildly, but that would be the expected average, till the next difficulty change
Perfect thank you for the exhaustive answer

When mainstream media is pumping, imo that usually means insiders are looking to get out. For example, Fox News didn't become all about bitcoin until it was over $950, and we all know what happened soon after.
it could also mean that the same insider's have taken their positions and now want to pump the price. It goes both ways.

i hadnt a penny outside bitcoin when i found out about it in december/january 2013/2014.. i was a broke ass student.. i put rent money in a week before rent was due to try and make money.. ya i lost some.. a lot even.. but a year later iv gone from scrapping pennies to put into crypto to taking out 2 times what i put in in total since i found out about crypto in every two weeks - month...
betting when your down isnt always the worst thing to do

what could happen @ friday > ETF ?
it would make sense.. wallstreet guys dump the fuck out of bitcoin > accumilate on the way down + at the bottom > pump the fuck out of it once the etf goes live, perhaps buying out some broke mining firms before the pump that would otherwise be going out of business.. pump the shit back up and they make a fortune..

Were there any specific technical indicators that led you to this conclusion?
I had a solid shit and it was greenish.. Thought it could be a sign seeing as the last time I got anything out was a week before the 152 bottom when I had the runs and my ass bled for 3 days. Seemed like a good indicator of a trend reversal...

Nah not a collapse yet, they're just saying that to scare people so they don't vote for them. Can't have anyone challenge the status quo after all..
well ssyriza is ahead in 6 different polls by 3-10%.. what the fuck do they care if the euro crashes cos they wont be using it anymore lol if the euro continues to fall, the danish peg might get broken too which would lead to further mayhem.. greece could lead the eu down a nasty road which could lead to loss in faith in the euro.. chain reaction.. not that i have a clue whats really going to happen..

The recent "flash-bubble" created by the Coinbase announcement shows that the "West" can lift the price by at least +50 dollars (~250 to ~300) with suitable rumors.
I am assuming that the Chinese did not pay attention to the rumor, as they have not paid attention to other similar news in the past. I am also assuming that the gentler upward trend that started around 2015-01-15 comes from China, not from the "West"
I still don't know what caused the mini-bubble that started on 2014-05-20. If it was created in the West, too, then it would imply that the "West" can pump the price by +200 $/BTC (modulo the possibility that the increment may depend on the starting price level).
Chinese exchanges are consistently lower than western. That tells me that China is cashing out and is arbed to west. When you see Hooboy's price higher than stamp thats when China would be leading the uptrend
oh look a single sell on bitstamp... a good few sells on bitfinex.. yet chinese exchanges plow higher..
q buying spree on bitstamp and finex in 3 2 ...

No. The downward movements on low volume are just stop hunting. Had the same fakeouts (only in reverse) last time we consolidated out. It's how whales take position.
ok so: drifting up on low volume = bearish, drifting down on low volume bullish?

Why is it, that they would use only Kraken and not the other exchanges .Does Kraken cater to them better ?
im in europe, and kraken is the best so far that i have used. normally <36 hour sepa transfers. i think its the most prominent exchange in europe with the most volume, and because of the very nice user experience, zero previous security breaches and large investment its probably the most trust worthy. if kraken wasnt around i wouldnt link my bank with any exchange. if you are in the EU, you will naturally look for the best exchange that deals in euros.

some one is trying their god damn best to crash the market but it just isnt happening lol
It looks more like they are trying to get out above 1400 CNY before it crashes.

Oh come on, it didn't look like it was going to crash at all before this okcoin kamikaze move, we've been bumping up from 1400 CNY / 220 USD long enough to see it wasn't going to drop lower any time soon. This Chinese "drop" looks highly artficial to me - only huge dumps without accompanying smaller drops. Seems like nobody really wants to follow.
From what I've observed, the amount of BTC to 220 USD on bitfinex got a little below 6k for a moment, now it's back at 6300. If it goes back to 10k after this flash crash attempt, it seems inevitable that we're going up.
I, for one, am going to sleep. All in BTC. Good night, gentlemen.
was thinking the exact same thing..

This ongoing first stage of the stock market crash of 2015 doesn´t seem to affect BTC action noticeably so far.
Which stock market crash?
You will see

Just like i saw the crash of the dollar in 2000 ,2001 , 2002 , 2003 , 2004 , 2005 .... 2300, 2301,2302
the difference is that now the entire world is going through mass de-dollarization.. and its picking up speed.

but since euro zone is killing himself and euro is losing value to USD, what will replace USD?
Rubles? CHinese money?
bitcoins?its generally the strongest economies currency that takes over as reserve currency. so chinese yuan is most likely. but if crypto ends up being the strongest economy in 20-30-40-50 years, it will be some form of crypto. which makes sense cos the reserve currency of the time is generally the most internationally transacted which crypto is made for.

Hello,
I was just curious if there is any sort of bitcoin bug bounty?
I have discovered a serious bug in all previous (and current) bitcoin reference clients which would allow a denial of service on an arbitrary number of bitcoind nodes (as run by exchanges for example).
While this bug may not leak any private data, it allows you to shoot down bitcoin nodes that you are directly connected to. Arbitrary code execution may be possible (but was not tested).
The denial of service works, tested locally in Bitcoin 0.9 and 0.10 branches.
Newspapers or Journalists may ask me for a demonstration in private.
If anyone is intrested in a disclosure, I am asking 10 BTC for my time doing a write-up
including detailed explanations: 1LaV9xQvmd1gR4fYYWgFMpPXEgAwBYCQN1
If the balance will not reach 10 BTC, I will pay all amounts back. I will also cover the transaction costs myself.
is he a serious guy?
Might be a way to scam 10 BTC.
If he really wanted a bounty for it he could get a world from theymos or other rich bitcoiners that they would give him 10 BTC as soon they proof the bug is true
Read the thread.
that guy is the real deal.. he found the injected fatal flaw in nxt and won 100k nxt bounty. smart guy.

Considering his thread here
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421842.0 was shot down in flames I wouldn't take this too seriously until more details are known
some of the most intelligent people on the planet were denied work, or disregarded as crazy for decades before they were recognised for their brilliance. im not saying this is the case here, but just because the majority think something to be false, it doesnt make it so.
but im not about to take it seriously either.. obviously not until something substantial and provable is provided.

is this the last batch to be auctioned off? if so, id also expect them to announce that they payed way over market price for them.. 1) because we are in the middle of bull run 2) btc will sky rocket so when they launch trading on their new pink sheets exchange, they will get way more for the bitcoins.. easy money..

Does bitcoin require an ever increasing flow of money to sustain it? No
yes... mining.. hashpower increases -> cost increase -> (if the cost of mining gives bitcoin its value like so many seem to think) the amount of fiat coming into the system must increase to maintain current prices. of course this can go the other way too but the general trend has been that it has increased continuously for the better part of bitcoins history.

No. They changed it to just 10 coins like the others. But half an hour ago (09:31 NY time), they went back to 5000 coins.
Such wow, some retarded people pretend that they are going to buy a !derivative! from btc ~45% higher than the actual price of btc itself, and you people are discussing that shit here, lmao.
All it would take is trading to open and their buy order to be matched with a willing seller.... so either they are mighty sure they know when trading will start, and their bid will not get filled.......or they have no clue as to when trading will start and are either willing to buy, or take a $1.7 million gamble that they can pull the order and their order in time so it does not get filled.
maybe their intention is simply to draw attention. also, whats the odds someone can fill that order? is there a record anywhere of how many shares have been sold and when ie. how many are now available for trading?

I am not suggesting one scenario, I am just stating either they are very sure it will not get filled, or they want it to get filled, or they are taking a gamble if they do not know if it will get filled or not.
i guess my suggestion fits into one of those scenarios

Post 14575628 (copy this link) (by kodtycoon) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_14.49h):
It's only sustainable if price can raise at a rate slower than average blocksize. I don't see how that's possible because a belief in rising xaction fees has the effect of pushing demand forward or in other words causing people to transact now rather than later which causes the blocks to grow. A self-fulfilling prophecy.
So either you think a fee market will emerge, in which case you contribute to the capacity problem or you think it won't, in which case you hold off and allow the market to think demand for blockspace is lower than it is, which creates less incentive to fix the capacity problem. How are you gonna take advantage of a non-jammed network without contributing to the jam?
The capacity problem will not be fixed if it is not seen as a problem and it won't be seen as a problem if the exchange price is high. Miners will continue to profit selling a shitty inferior product because you assholes keep buying it. I can't blame them. You can't buy as much blockspace as you used to for the same amount of coin. You can't xfer it as fast for the same fee. It can be censored by the PRC. One Bitcoin is a smaller amount of total market cap than it used to be. Even if it's undervalued, it's not nearly as undervalued as it was at $350, so why the hell are you buying now? Got a tax refund burning a hole in your pocket?
And anytime BillyJoeAllen posts about a supposed "block size armageddon", all you need to do is post this as reply:
It doesn't matter what % of blocks are full you stupid fucks. All that matters is what the average transaction fee is. Since there is no minimum transaction fee, the blocks are basically designed to be full at all times eventually even if you set it to 100MB blocks. Segwit + hard fork in 2017 = 3.2MB blocks. Then schnorr multisig on top of that should lower transaction sizes and increase TPS further.
If blocks were designed to be full, then how come they weren't full until recently despite effectively zero fees? cripplecoiners never answer that.
why would people do transactions simply because there is space? the fees were low for a long time because the blocksize was always more than big enough for the number of transactions. now that they are near full, the fee increases as competition for space increases. eventually, if the size doesnt increase, demand for space will lead to further increases in the cost to transact.
i dont think they were designed to be full, as that would require a dynamic blocksize. without dynamic blocksize, they are either not full due to low transaction count, just full when it reaches equilibrium, or over full when there is too much demand. The only way i see this becoming a problem is if demand is so high that transaction fees become intolerable, though i suspect that could happen very fast if transaction fees are dynamically increased as blocks become fuller.
It doesnt matter if most users dont see it as a problem, it will be fixed so long as the devs see it as a problem and miners agree. since when do decision makers take joe soaps opinions into account when deciding whether is an issue or not. Facebook users never considered how much data they were creating or how it would affect their beloved facebook did they? but yet facebook and their devs still pre-emtped the issue and solved it, regardless of whether the users considered it an issue or not.
i dont see why bitcoin would be any different. facebook over loaded = facebook goes down. bitcoin over loaded, transactions get very expensive. this isnt a consideration that the vast majority of users will take into account ever so to say that blocks should be full simply because they its cheap to transact is wrong. to assume that users will front run others by sending transactions sooner because fees might increase soon is also wrong. to think that most users have that kind of foresight is wrong. to think that users will send transactions willy nilly just because they can do it very cheap is wrong. you are thinking about this as if people are rational beings and will always optimize their use of bitcoin and plan ahead, but people just arent like that.

are the blocks full because of spam tx's or genuine ones? like is someone artificially filling blocks atm or is it natural?
define natural. All xactions that conform to the protocol get included. They are all natural. That's the whole point of having a distributed open source ledger, so that nobody is in the position of telling us what we can do.
you obviously know what i mean but are purposefully trying to sound clever.
i mean is someone running a bot to send pointless transactions just to fill the blocks to put pressure on the core devs to do something.
what else would i mean by artificially filling the blocks.

Why would filling blocks to pressure Core be illegitimate? Highlighting a weakness in a network in order to facilitate a fix is common with all open source projects.
because its not genuine user transaction growth due to a need/want to use bitcoin. its a growth in transaction because someone wants the devs to make a change. its akin to a forced ddos. its not a ddos due to genuine user growth, its an attack to take down down a website. whether its done with good intentions or not, its still artificial.

Ethereum is useless and broken from a technical and fundamental standpoint. Everyone that knows anything about cryptocurrency knows this (don't take my word for it, read everyone's view):
http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1361602.0Even if you're playing the "greater fool" pump game with Eth,
it's going to have the biggest implosion the world has ever seen on May 28th when the DAO holders start to dump ($130 million that will likely be reinvested in BTC) while the BTC triangle converges upwards. So the question is, since the single entity manipulator of Eth knows everybody else knows this, when does he pull the rug out from under you? Will he wait a few days, or could it just come at any second?
i witnessed this happen to nxt first hand on a smaller scale obviously but same thing applies. agree with you fully.

Yep. It was brutal in Nxt. Right now, around one in every seven ETH is tied up in the DAO. Hmmm...
woah... not good. it wasnt that bad in nxt and in nxt it was spread out over time too lowering the impact.

ELI5 how debasing yuan counters the anti-dumping tax?
it strengthens US dollar = shit for stocks + makes exports more expensive imports cheaper. if exports are more expensive it means less foreign currency flowing in and more flowing out. singapore is an interesting exception to the rule, being the only island city state in the world: tiny with little capacity to produce physical goods, they have to import a shit lot and cant export much so a strong currency actually suits them quiet well cos it makes imports cheap and exports expensive. its vice versa to the US and china. it makes labor more expensive in the US too, basically exporting jobs to, guess where, china, where it just got cheaper to produce goods.
edit: it doesnt so much counter the tax,, its more like a big "fuck you i can play dirty too" "best change your tone or shits guna go south for you quick"

I'm not following. Ignoring your Singapore tangent, how is devaluing the yuan "make labor more expensive in the US"?
And you do know that
US minimal wage is far better than Chinese average wage, so which jobs would they be stealing that they ain't already got?
Not seeing much of a "fuck you" there, to be honest.
so if you wana hire 1000 people to make t-shirts, who do you employ? the ones who demand high pay, or the ones you can employ to do the same thing for a fraction of the price. so if im in england, i want 1,000,000,000 t-shirts, im guna hire the chinese instead of the americans. so my money then flows into china instead of america. and then because the dollar is strong, and the cost of producing the same t-shirt in america is higher, people will buy the t-shirts from me and import them instead of buying from a local producer in america. so 1) the jobs to produce the t-shirts have shifted to china and 2) when people in america want to buy t-shirtsm they buy the cheaper chinese version causing capital outflow instead of inflow. its one country steeling growth from the other. that 450% means anyone who needs metal will buy in the US instead of china, pulling back the jobs to produce the metal and also keeping the money paid for the metal by consumers in the country. america takes back value from one industry, while china turns around and takes that same value back from a different place but still taking it back.
