Going to be pointing my miners at PPC once I've managed to get enough to cash out my Slush's Pool account. Looks to be a far more profitable approach at this point.
Great idea,no issues with their blockchain!
Eco-friendly, cheap mining too!

As far as the price goes, we kinda time traveled back to dec 20-21
Last time it resulted in a 2day rally, followed by ~1month of sideways actions, lets see what happens this time.
This is the end. Regulation will declare bitcoin illegal because it is flawed and shitty . Bitcoin is only useful to buy weed.
Hell yeah, swap some Bitcoin for some Potcoin
great price right now, likely to go up a lot more than Bitcoin

Timeline:
1) Large Buyers are slowly accumulating Bitcoin as exchange depth allows, trying not to run the price up on themselves while they try to fill their accounts to their planned levels of exposure.
2) They find out about the SR Seized Coin auction. Some may have found out before the public announcement.
3) They stop buying on exchanges and save their funds for later bids at the auction. This would correspond to a lack of buying, as some here have seen in their analysis for the past few weeks.
4) Someone wins the auction, but most bidders do not get all of their bids filled. The losers find out some time between end of auction 6/27 6PM EST and 6/30 5PM EST.
5) Losers begin slowly accumulating Bitcoin on exchanges again until reaching their planned level of exposure.
We are between #3 and #4. The next step will be bullish.
sounds about right

Seems like some magical invisible wall right there. No obvious wall, but is there actually any potential reason why we're stuck at exactly that mark? Theories, guesses?

care to explain how someone can do stupid things regardless of what happens next?
I cannot believe you do not understand this: It is stupid to increase your slippage cost, reduce your execution chances and increase your counter-party exposure by selling only on one single exchange. It does not matter what followed after. And in his case, the price actually rose for months afterwards, and he sold at the bottom. Had he had a modicum of sense execution wise and technicals wise, he'd have done much better.
Also, I don't believe he has another 30k because the way he sold showed that he was in a rush, for whatever reason. I'm sure you agree.
you didnt answer my question really and again you are questioning his trading methods.
you said that he was stupid to sell regardless of what happens next and I am asking to you what happens if price crashes to 100 $ levels?
Blitz is right. It is quite clear that the owner of those 30K+ coins were an amateur. Starting with dispensing coins in small portions. Got afraid when price went down, did not understand that he was reason for the downtrend. Dumped in despair several times. He must have understood at that point that his dumping was the problem, then offered the rest for 300. It was eaten after a few days.
The volume may be high, but by traders that sometimes sell, sometimes buy. If someone want in with a large number of fiat units, or out with a large number of coins, it moves the market. You can not stealth sell 30K+ coins in this market, even if 100K coins change hands in a day.
Conclusion: If you have 30K coins, you may think you are good for 10 mill USD, but you are not able to buy a 10 mill anything - yet.
why would he be an amateur?
he may be the smartest bitcoin hacker ( gox) ever?
cashing in because he can see it is going down for now,
He can see Bitcoin is not finished but why not take some profits ,we all do that, smart move perhaps
$10M ,thankyou

please explain to me how further delay of something that people are eagerly anticipating for a boost in prices is positive. Clearly their last submission was not approved or they would not need to submit another one. Clearly this pushes back the timeline. At best it's neutral if you were not expecting an imminent launch.
The whole news article was complete misrepresentation and omitted most of the facts.
That is spinning ... or just piss poor journalism, probably the latter

Here is a diff of this latest amended proposal (version 5) and the previous one (version 4):
http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2qxgah/diff_of_the_newest_winklevoss_filing_here/They update some data about the state of bitcoin (e.g. adoption) and change the State where the fund is incorporated, from New York to Delaware. Would this change improve the chances of approval?
The plan is still to trade the fund on NASDAQ anyway.
Could the state change be tied to the licensing issue. Delaware is the traditional state for incorporation so that would normally be neutral, but the fact that they changed it this late in the game suggests something is the matter.
yup, they don't like it atm, changes required before approval

Yea, and that is not a small change at all. That is a structural change, not just shifting a little bit of wording around. Tough to know because we aren't prevue to the discussions, but just my two cents as a lawyer.
as you know a couple of words mean a lot, crossing the t's etc, i'm sure they want it to proceed but with what limitations

Yep, bitcoin is dead
Coinbase has raised $75m as part of a Series C funding round backed by a host of impressive first-time bitcoin investors including the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), Fortune 500 financial services group USAA, Spanish megabank BBVA and Japanese telcom giant DoCoMo.Too add onto that... I think this is from NYSE themselves:
http://otp.investis.com/clients/us/intercontinental_exchange_group/usn/usnews-story.aspx?cid=953&newsid=28438Released : 20 January 2015
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Intercontinental Exchange (NYSE: ICE), the leading global network of exchanges and clearing houses, announced today that its wholly-owned subsidiary, The New York Stock Exchange, has made a minority investment in Coinbase, a leading bitcoin wallet and platform with over 2.1 million consumer wallets, 38,000 merchants and 7,000 developers.
Coinbase was established in 2012 in San Francisco and provides a platform for people to easily and securely use the digital currency bitcoin.
“With this investment, we are tapping into a new asset class by teaming up with a leading platform that is bringing transparency, security and confidence to an important growth market,” said NYSE President Tom Farley. “We look forward to supporting Coinbase’s growth utilizing our global distribution capabilities and market expertise.”
The New York Stock Exchange will work with Coinbase to bring additional transparency to bitcoin pricing. ICE is a leading provider of financial information and market data and has worked through its benchmark administration business to restore confidence and integrity in financial data.
Terms of the investment were not disclosed.

Post 10932445 (copy this link) (by indiemax) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_14.08h):
(my crime for making the ignore list of people is repeatedly pointing out that the criminal ceo of mtgox mark karpeles used a billion non-existent dollars to manipulate the price of bitcoin since perhaps the very beginning as it was the only exchange for bitcoin for the first several years , but most definitely caused the runup from double digits all the way to the $1200+ high point , culminating in the outright theft of 650,000-850,000 bitcoin , which may or may not have been getting continually dumped into the other new exchanges ever since ... ooops ... did it again ... can't have people be reminded of that ... they might come to the realization that bitcoin , though perhaps not intended to be used as a fraudulent ponzi mechanism , has most certainly been abused as one ... and that today's price is a leftover result of that fraudulent action ... i cannot stress how severe an impact of $1,000,000,000 of "fake new money" spent in a couple months would obviously have on a market as small as bitcoin , which was at the time that fraud began valued at *less than* a billion in total market cap)
(oh also they hate it when i point out ... 1,000,000 unique btc addresses with more than 0.01 btc is representative of 0.0142857 % of the population ... a great many of which are long dormant unused / represent the many multiple addresses of people ... putting that estimated % far lower in terms of actual btc user adoption ... probably by a factor of at least 10 , to lower adoption to 0.001 % of people even holding a dust amount of btc ... evidence of the actual complete lack of public interest or trust in btc despite awareness of it's existence through news reports and 7 years of time)
(they also hate it when i point out that their beloved btc is more than 100,000X worse distributed that the existing fiat monetary system , since in this world 70,000,000 people (1%) owning half of all the wealth is in fact far far more egalitarian and better system to support than a system with 1000 people holding 3/4 of all btc in existence ... tearing the mask off the illusion that bitcoin would result in anything other than total financial tyranny concentrated to an extreme degree by many orders of magnitude if it were to ever accomplish the laughable goal of replacing fiat currencies)
I believe you

I understand price is crashing. I just lost ~40k since buy in at 260$
No difference. I see it dropping as low in the worst case as ~190.
At that point I will kick myself for not having money for cheap coins.
Then I see a push to ~237+ by our friends in china.
Some news will drop and there will be a nice run all the way to 275$.
Which is where I will do some selling.
Then it will crash again while everyone sells that news
Question for the well educated folk?
How much would it take one investor to put into bitcoin to single handedly raise the price ?
Not that I have that money I'm just curious
You can calculate it by looking at the volume. The entire move down from 300 is just a few extremely high volume market sells. Nothing more. Just tot them up.
yeah but don't we need the opposite to happen for it to raise the price?
the pattern looks the same as before, it needs to be broken else cheaper coins are definitely on the horizon

It has been coiling for a while now...
My feeling is that we are waiting for clarity on GBTC. It either goes live and we jump, or we get another "two week" ETA from Barry Silbert and we tank to test 220 & below...
But hey, wtf do I know?
BTW... my last post was removed for some reason... not sure why.
I personally couldn't care less about anything that requires sucking the USA federal governments dick in regards to Bitcoin.
I'll be excited when the average American or world citizen can transfer wealth from their country to a "safe zone" within a hour using Bitcoin as a tool without worry of the market taking a shit on itself in the process.
If counties don't want to see the wealth leak from their country, then they won't rob their citizens... doesn't feel like I'm asking for that much!

I'm with you buddy

Having stuff stored in the most secure ledger in the world is not free, so it should not be free. I felt bad when I sent a few BTC with a 0.001 fee. (No, not because I needed to pay €0.38 - because of the miners.)
I think that says it all
I just wish they would sort the block size and get a workable plan out for all to see
Bitcoin is severely lacking confidence, that could change quickly
