My 1st Bitcoin purchase!

Wish some of my debit card transactions went this EZ!

Would it of been that easy if you had to purchase the Bitcoins first?

Obviously not, but it wouldn't be any different than if he had to sign up for a credit card first, would it? Or get a Paypal account first, would it?

Same to you. I'm not really bothered, I have nothing in Gox, forgot how emotional everyone is around here. No facts just FUD and who can shout loudest.

DON'T YOU GET IT Huh?? IT'S CRASHING !! BITCOIN IS THE FIRST VIRTUAL CURRENCY AND WILL FAIL !!

DO YOU HEAR ME Huh

FAIL !!

Fuck off and stop yelling, it's very impolite.

I have one question. Bitstamp and BTC-E have the same problems as MTGOX, how come it that Stamp and BTC-E are +150 higher? I would love to buy coins @gox prices from stamp. Also have an big order at around 580 but I dont see it going that much down?!

I don't think they're the same problem. Gox was losing coins, the rest weren't.

How can we rise $130. In less then 12 hours?

Bitcoin is built with sunshine and rainbows, with a bit of ground unicorn for good measure.

I think it was a false bottom, created 100% by fear. People feared that maybe the exchanges were outta business. That fear' been alleviated, now its back to business as usual...IMHO.

People laughed at me when i started shortin @ 840$ . I can live with that.

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Yeah but it snapped back on your ass. You finally sold your shorts for a meager profit before buying back. While you were out you went silent like a slug.  Now you are short again, except this time you are going to sell for a loss or stop out soon as Gox reopens withdrawals and we bounce again. You'll probably give up a fiat bit of the profits you made on the first trade.

Well i stated a few hours ago that i closed my shorts @ 580$ , which have been opened @ 840$, i also stated that i will short again between 650-690$, when the price was@630 which might have not been the worst  idea as it looks like. Do you have any kind of personal agenda with me? Iīm pretty pleased with my profits, thanks again for askin?
Just keep on actin like a dick.

Probably nothing personal, its just that when you're not acting like a super-troll dressed in a bear costume its kinda weird.

the ones in Canada seemingly abide by the required laws as far as I have read.

I just saw that apparently Canadian banks have taken a turn for the worse...

Anyone else think that maybe SR2 and Gox were somehow tied together, and when SR2 announced that their coins had been stolen, it was only because they had inside information that Gox had 'lost' all of their coins? So when Gox went down, SR2 did too? Seems a little fishy that they would both claim theft by malleability at roughly the same time, but it didn't affect anyone else. Maybe MK owned them both.

I simply cannot believe that the man who wrote this:

"Commerce on the Internet has come to rely almost exclusively on financial institutions serving as trusted third parties to process electronic payments. While the system works well enough for most transactions, it still suffers from the inherent weaknesses of the trust based model."

Also wrote this:

"the parking fee + gasoline costs $10 now to get there from my home and i would go there more often with my mother for shoppings."

Ya, I tend to agree. Looking at the two writings side by side it definitely makes it look like two completely different people.

You have a tendency to remove relevant context from my quotes...

It is called "trimming followups" and is considered good manners, particularly when quoting someone who tends to ramble without making a point.

Its a shame this forum doesn't have an off topic section.   Undecided

Does anyone have a recent ETA for a Bitstamp account verification?

Mine was approved yesterday, after being submitted on March 6th.

Less than a month after it first began accepting bitcoin, Dell has received a 85 BTC (over $50,000) order for a PowerEdge server order.

http://www.coindesk.com/dell-receives-50k-server-order-bitcoin/

That doesn't sound like it's a lot of money for Dell. I think it's a great thing that order has been made using Bitcoin, but it isn't an order out of the ordinary for Dell, I guess, right?

I think what makes it a little different, or even worth reporting on is that the order isn't for standard stuff Bitcoiner's would normally buy, like laptops, etc. Since its a $50K order for a server, its more likely to be a business spending the BTC rather than the typical user. Maybe some of the vendors who are accepting BTC aren't converting all of it directly to fiat after all.

rpietila's latest gem:

The public is being mind-fucked to BTC pregnancy and we're waiting on the next cohort to give birth so that we can "super-move" north of $10k.

You've got to admit that Risto is a clever guy. He uses his own picture of himself in a suit and tie for his avatar, and utilizes various professional looking mathematical charts to sell people on the idea of bitcoin going super exponential in the near future. He then posts frequently about his castle and bourgeoisie lifestyle of fine wine and cigars to convince people that they too can be ultra rich if they just follow his lead. Occasionally he is right about small, short term movements, but when he's wrong they get quietly erased or swept under the rug.

Sounds to me that some people here bought at the top, and are pretty eager to blame somebody. Risto hasn't been the only one saying the price of BTC is going through the roof. The Winklvii said ~$50k...hell, even the BoA said the fair value was $1300. Don't blame others because you're a moron and can't make your own decisions. This is the speculation thread, right?

Let me guess... you're still holding?

Yep, its got a ways to go before I decide to jump ship. Besides, given my inability to figure what the hell is going to happen, the minute I sell someone will announce an ETF is approved, or Amazon is accepting it, and it will go through the roof. I committed a pretty small amount of fiat that I'm willing to lose.
