More notable than the individual (or ten) owner(s) that elected to support it, is the fact that Subway's Twitter account elected to highlight it. It's on their radar at the corporate level.

And how that XRP investment went?

Sorry, I cannot help it, I remember those summer debates we had Smiley

My views on Ripple haven't changed at all.  If anything, they have grown stronger.  And yes I still hold XRP but that has little to do with my faith in Ripple as the payment network of the future.

Ouch. Hope you bought those XRP with USD and not with BTC Wink

Uh, that money had to come from somewhere . . .   Even if all the money on the order book is from sold bitcoins, which it is of course not, the bitcoins that were sold had to be bought by someone with new money . . .   Slightly simplified, but you get the idea.   Do people even think before they say things these days?

You're right, I guess some sleep here would help. The only way this would be old money is if there was a lot of USD sitting on gox off the orderbooks, waiting for a crash.

damn forex players foiled my plans to take it back to pennies lol  Cool

Still with 7 transactions per second being the hard cap limit, I will always have a big bear in me telling me this will never grow out to compete with credit card companies. And also this issue can't be fixed.

I think it's hilarious people think bitcoin is going mainstream. It's no way near ready to go mainstream, not the exchanges, not the protocol, not the services built around it. No way the price is going to stay at 1000+ for very long. Hordes of speculators will cash out. Yes i'm as bearish as it gets at the moment.

it usually makes sense
Bitcoin isn't usual.

All it takes is one mistake when it moves against you and you've permanently ended up with half the BTC you could have owned if you'd have just held.

For most people, holding 100% of the initial amount is not a wise choice. It is good to diversify by selling into strength to account for the possibility of a black swan event in Bitcoin technology. This way you steadily accumulate also non-BTC assets, and can learn how to handle wealth. You sleep better and don't see dips in price as an opportunity to panic, but rather an opportunity to buy back if you really feel like so. The selling plan must be based on percentages, which means that no matter how high bitcoin goes, you still have more value in your remaining BTC.

If you have BTC1,000 and you absolutely want to have the same number when it hits $million, then it is best to just bury the paper wallet into ground and wake up when you are a billionaire. Trading only makes you lose the most of it over time with no gain. But it is not healthy for anyone to suddenly become a billionaire.

If instead, you flex your Excel muscle and devise a plan to sell BTC900 in decreasing increments at exponentially rising price points, you will already be rich and well-established when bitcoin hits $1 million, and totally content with the idea that your remaining stash is still worth a cool $100M.

That is incredibly sage advice and I just might take it. Really. Some people should read this carefully. You are absolutely right, being a billionaire overnight is not healthy. Not even being a millionaire overnight is healthy.

I have more of my lawyer friends starting to want to buy bitcoins!~~~ @ 500 it was a joke?... at 1000 now they want in LOL!!!  Grin

As we're approaching $1K more and more will go bearish. Which will make them run to cover their losses afterwards. My opinion is to hold as much as you can. Don't sell until it's absolutely necessary for you. Soon enough $1000 would be considered as a low point (as at some time was $266). Think about it.

GAME OVER !!!! = $1OOO -> THE STOCK MARKET SAYS WE ARE LEGIT!!!  Wink

Where do you cash out a couple of $M? Don't the exchanges have limits?

Where there is a couple of $M, there is a way.

I've got $13 left in my BTCChina account, QtTrader running, with 0% trading fee's. Let's see how far I can take this. I'm turning this into a computer game Cheesy

Report back when you are at $100.

Challenge accepted!

Are there any stop orders on QT Trader?

Yes, you can set order's just as if you were trading with limit orders on the exchange. It also has a nice 'rules' feature where you can set certain conditions for selling.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=201062.0

Okay, but there is no stop loss rule where I can execute a market order if price goes below x?

Is that not included in the rules below? Sorry I'm not really familiar with stock trading lingo :p
