So, you guys ever hear about bitcoin? Is it a good investment?
Lol! Suddenly everyone including my sister are asking me if they should put some money in 'this bitcoin thing'
I live in a major US city and work with many business, accounting, and IT types. Over the years not a single one has asked me about bitcoin, even after I mention it a few times.
Today I asked a client who works with investments, a younger guy too, if he'd ever heard of bitcoin. He asked if it was a band.
We still have a loooooooooooooong way to go.
This, I'm a software developer and yesterday I talked with some colleagues that I did a small investment in bitcoin and they were pretty much like "what's that?" and "isn't this this crypto money with no real value?" ....oh boy ....

Gox ahead of Stamp again. Back in the comfort zone.
Actually their price is pretty much equal now. Bitcoinwisdom is still showing the bitstamp price of 20 mins ago.
I believe bitstamp API is down? at least for me it seems to be... I hope I'm not banned or something.
Yeah, I noticed it is pretty weird. Sometime it seems the API is down while the website still (slowly) loads and shows the current price, etc. Reminds me a bit of my earlier programming days when you write a multithreaded program and sometimes parts fail and then it works again because race conditions are all over the place. I just hope the same is not true for bitstamp ... can't help but to get the impression lately ...

Looks like not even stamp is falling for it.

quick i need an answer, before it goes over 800 and i can't afford any anymore
buy buy buy

Seriously, a few days ago, gox crashed from 900 to 460 and now we're back at around 800, which shows much resistance. No one knows, but I figure this will hold until we at least reach ~1000

I think early 2014 will actually be an exciting time.
Naval (video below) stated that Bitcoin would become more and more relevant to the start up space when the market cap reached the ~$3-5B range.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jl-HZWfxUFwWe've blown through that quickly, and we're now sitting at ~$12B. I imagine (though I'm far from an insider) things are really developing quickly now in that space.
...
I did not know the video, but actually I found it
very inspiring. I'm a programmer myself and though I see that bitcoin as a technology has interesting features, the term "programmable money" and the presented scenarios completely blew me.
I joined the train in September at around 130$, which I consider to be late even while we didn't break into mainstream yet, but I'm even more amazed at some (tech savvy) friends of mine which are also kind of intrigued by the idea of btc but tell me the train is already gone, they won't join anymore. Well, I'd say time for mBTC so investing is worthwhile again

Yeah I just canceled my buy at 601 because I want to see how far the wall pushes the price down ... but I agree, seems a bit too noobish

Actually, maybe it's not such a bad idea ... seems to troll all the bots.

Post 4065302 (copy this link) (by olli) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_11.44h):
Usually they moving down the price with 300btc walls on stamp... but not with 4500btc???
We will see 500$ for sure.

I wouldn't worry, this wall does not seem to be a legit order, just a scam to dump the price. And it's so obvious that only naive bots fail for it. I wait for the price to drop short term, buy a coin or two and then wait for the wall to vanish and the price bumping up again.

Post 4065466 (copy this link) (by olli) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_11.44h):
If someone wants to explain a noob what this wall means, it's appreciated.
My nooby guess right now:
So ok, he sells 4500 coins at a certain prize, and keeps lowering so people buy them.
This seems noobish cause you would not sell so many coins this way cause it lowers the price you get for them putting it that into the open.
Therefore it could be 'fake' just to make the price go down.. for some reason.
Ok, no expert here either, but if you seriously wanted to sell 4000 coins, this is by _far_ the most stupid way to do it. Of course you want to sell for maximum profit, so why move down in such short intervals? It would be better to sell it in small chunks to get a higher profit. In other words, this stinks and is just a cheap trick to drop the price short term .... but I'm not saying this is a bad thing

I was the guy that sold at the absolute bottom for 490 some hours ago.
Today i was the guy that sold at the bottom at 610.
I am just laughing now.
I feel someone is just waiting for me to sell and then everyone buys again.
But i was happy buying at 580 from this wall-guy!
I feel great now (for now:))

it has a certain beauty to it...

yes lets all rush in any buy and happily forget
....that other posters recently highlighted the operation of bots working hard
....that many exchanges operate insider trading
......that bitcoin bounces down as hard as it bounces up eg 31 to 2, 1100 to 250
but if you gotta buy you gotta buy. good luck.
Prepare your anus, green dildo coming in ....

I saw this earlier and hope/think Greg will reconsider and keep fighting the good fight against Gavin's minions.
This is not LOTR, nor Warcraft. Genuine people have genuine disagreements. There are no minions.... on Gavin's side.
There are. Only on Gavin's side. He's trying to increase the size of blocks which breaks Bitcoin. He's some sort of socialist, corrupted by the CIA or went crazy but what he's doing is fighting Bitcoin. There is no logical reason to choose for bigger blocks other a strive for centralization, control by the government and the loss of utility of Bitcoin itself (and in effect a loss off value). He's advocating changes which make my holdings worth less. That makes you my enemy.
The shill is strong in this one
