Ddin't expect XRP to pass ETH that soon again.
More volatility to come?

It is confirmed that Samsung will make his new galaxy s10 with an integrated crypto wallet. One further step in the direction of mass adoption!

I know the screenshot only shows ETH but let's hope this will support BTC as well.

Yeah.. there are a lot of dumb asses out there that are deluded into a belief that ETH is kind of similar to BTC.  That is why they market or promote "crypto" items in ways that include ETH as if it were some kind of BTC equivalent.

In fact ETH is nothing like BTC. However it brings some nifty functions that serve the general crypto industry/space.

Presumably they’d be password protected & backed up to some sort of cloud? You could recover your coins then on a new phone?
Be dumb to keep your main stash on your phone any way. Every day spending amounts would be cool though.

Yes but again, it would be just as secured as the place your store you backup is.
Also if you can only restore it in another samsung wallet, you are kinda hooked by samsung and have to buy a new ... samsung phone.

not something i look forward to.

I'd rather buy that crap bluetooth Ledger X.

For the meanwhile I will wait for ledger to allow me to connect my ledger S to my phone via OTG. Just missing their ledger live app for android.

this wallet is not supposed to store large amounts. I think this should only be used like a old school fiat wallet.

Exactly pointed that out as well in the french thread.
Compatibility with some of the newest NFC payment terminals would be awesome. Like if the terminal could handle Visa & crypto.

Except how fucking slow would that rollout be? In the US we still have payment terminals requiring you to swipe instead of inserting the chip, which I'm pretty sure has been mandated by law.

Dunno for the USA. In france the deployment of NFC  was blazing fast tho. Few years and like everybody has it.

Now I understand a bit about France, so you must be talking only the major cities, I doubt villages have NFC payments going on. The US is really vast, and lots of the smaller towns don't follow trend, I figure this is the same with France and their small villages. The exception for the small towns are the large corporations.

Depends on your definition of village.
I come from the mountains, about 5000 inhabitants, and most stores/bars have NFC already.

It is very easy to make a fake.

I highly doubt this is legit.
Only an official communication from google saying this would make me think otherwise.

I'd say the guy just wants some publicity, but what do I know.

Because its illegal to deface the notes you are borrowing from the bank

Pretty sure you can write whatever you want on a bank note in Europe.
Doesn't change it's validity.

I used to write marriage cards on bank notes. This way the weds have the choice between keeping it as a memory, or cashing it in for their honeymoon.

Deface =/= write on.

Wow this is pure genius! It's a pity I don't use paper money much.

Pursuing this bank note talk, did you know 90% of US printed money presents traces of cocaine?

You can do it, but it is still ilegal. They would need to prove it is you who is doing it though. One bill every so often and probably nothing will happen, but if a lot of "stamped" bills are coming from you and it gets detected you would be into serious problems. Or maybe not... as even if the law exists it has never got to trial even once (at least in Spain).

Don't know where you live, but checked for the Euro notes, and it is definitely not illegal.
Hell some banks/store even use a special pen to write on it to check the note is not counterfeited.

also

Quote
According to the European Commission's Recommendation dated 22 March 2010,[32] "Member states must not prohibit or punish the complete destruction of small quantities of Euro coins or notes when this happens in private.

To me since destroying is the next step of defacing, I think this implies you can't get punished for doing it.
