Gox BTC withdraws are taking ages again.
Smiley i was just about to post a question on this subject.
withdrew my last coins there and got more and more nervous because my txid hasn't shown up at blockchain.info after half an hour.
i've never had this problem before, how long can this take at maximum?

It can take a while.
My last transfer from Localbitcoins to MTGox took me about an hour - as the transfer is only accepted after 6 checks.

Seeing the same.

On Bitcoinity there seems to be a lag on the BC/EUR prices, but not on the BC/USD ones.

Yes, yes, we assume 'the worst' is over, unless you like this sort of thing.  Grin

Well, it matters what your point of view is.
I will 'like this sort of thing' once it's over and Bitcoin has grown stronger in it's position.

Although I'm a long term bull, I'm fully aware that we need these kind of crashes for Bitcoin to gain strength.

How many times must 700 be tested before the market takes it seriously?

It's only Gox for some reason - almost like someone wants Gox below other markets.

Is this the game (it is the price that media quote, the one BTC is 'priced' in).

A cheap way to manipulate overall market price by affecting one exchange - is that the logic?

It doesn't seem to work, though.
Multiple attempts now and 700 is keeping strong.

I meant changing the relative market prices between Gox, Stamp and Btce - which 'may' be what is going on.

Throwing money at Gox will not work, no, but it is keeping Gox under other exchanges just now.

I am wondering if this is the rationale

I know what you're trying to say, but wouldn't these kind of actions only have a temporary effect anyway?

Who is instilling sanity and common sense?  Look at the charts.  A double top at 1100-1200, china almost has a triple top.  Now a dead cat bounce to 900-1000 on almost no volume.  Preceding this was a 130-1000+ rally in about 40 days.  We are at the absolute top of the bounce right now.

Are you seriously saying this still looks like a dead cat bounce to you?

we are back to yesterdays price ..... Sad  when I look to the progress that we are making in daily basis it seems really huge, but a day feels long, so when the price drops a bit it feels like if it is dropping from today's price to a month ago price.

I also did notice that when I forget about the price for some time (few days) then check again it seems to me like a huge rise, but if you check every minute each move makes you nervous but we forget that this is how normal trading works.

The situation can easily be turned around.

MtGox:
946BTC needed to go above 1 USD/mBTC
1414BTC needed to go under 0.9 USD/mBTC

Yes it could go up from here (not likely),  but it can't be called a reverse head and shoulders, due to the all time high as the middle peak.  do you follow what i'm saying?

It doesn't matter, ATH or not ATH for the middle peak.
The middle peak of a H&S pattern is almost always a top of a trend.

Yes it matters!

If one of the peaks is the all time high, then how can there be a REVERSAL PATTERN?   The reverse head and shoulders is a reversal pattern formed after a long downtrend, showing that the market has been moving down for a long period and is reversing to go back up.  we are at the end of a long uptrend.  and the 1d chart referred to shows a potential head and shoulders.  the second peak being the all time high.

We are clearly talking about different timeframes.
I was talking about short term.

Bears think we are crashing. Bulls keep waiting for this big bear market that doesn't seem to go anywhere.

Everybody wants cheaper coins so coins don't get much cheaper.

Bears have about 2 weeks to pull something off and this weekend, their best time of the week, is halfway over.

I was just expecting more speculation / excitement, as the oscillations in the charts are clearly becoming smaller and smaller Smiley

Matches with days destroyed too Wink

What do you mean, 'destroyed'?

I still think it's just a slow downhill. But, it's BTC, whaddyagonna do?

Check those dates and the December on this chart:
https://blockchain.info/charts/bitcoin-days-destroyed-min-week?timespan=180days&showDataPoints=false&daysAverageString=1&show_header=true&scale=0&address=

Days destroyed represents the amount of time the coins that are being moved have spent in wallets, large movements of coins from storage show up on it.

No idea where its going to go next, those coin movements don't say coins are on the exchanges and Christmas shopping is as likely as anything else for the end one. I just buy and hold and recommend the same, too much risk from chaos but it looks like bullish chaos Wink

I'm holding too.

I think people will stop making fun of him now.

He's nowhere to be found!!! Predicting that something (especially bitcoin) will fall is nothing more than FUD! One must also predict when and where to! Don't you think?

C'mon. Give the guy some credit.
This time he deserves it.

Anyone think we will break 600 and stay?

I do.  Alot of indicators are starting to point at buy.  Will we dip down?  Sure.  But I believe we're in recovery mode now.

Were slowing oscillating up,  I think were in the clear until China wakes up.

China doesn't matter any more. They will decouple from the market.

Fingers crossed Embarrassed

Such swing. Much mystery.

What'll happen next?  Surely different this time.

If no new bad news comes out of China, what is going to drive the price down this time. One might argue we are no longer overbought.

I'm looking at these two blue boxes and they're the same pattern and we're on a downtrend. so would you continue to read it as it will continue to dip and follow trend/pattern?

That way you could reason it would go down ad infinitum ...
I don't think we're going to see any lower lowers anymore. Give it another couple of days and you'll see we're going to be over 1000 again in the first half of January.

Meanwhile, while I wait for BTC price to become cheaper, I CANNOT believe I am earning 438% interest on 76k on Bitfinex.

At these rates, I will have to be wiring some additional money there soon. I mean, for 100k I can clear over $1000 in interest. Each day. I will double my money in 3 months, basically risk free. That's insane.  A million would net $300k a month at this rate. Surely these are the highest interests rates in the world.

Wow... crazy.

Yeah, and this is on a weekend where the market has basically flatlined. For whatever reason traders are willing to pay insane premiums to trade with other peoples money. Not only that, but when you leverage at Bitfinex you do it with 100% other people's money. Meaning, they hold $1000 of your money and let you trade $2000, but you are paying interest on the entire $2000, not just the $1000 you are borrowing. AND people are paying this!

Are you using insured loans?

I may regret this in the morning, as it will cause some people to want to trade against me, but I feel that I need to put it out there. Bitcoin TA is heavily manipulated at the moment, by at least 2 parties. Be careful out there.

Could you please explain it in more detail? Is it the ask spikes I'm seeing @ 750 and 768 Bitstamp? Or something completely different?

Hint: China.

You mean that perfect pennant on the 1H or some other thing regarding your trip?

Are you still there btw?

Yeah, I'm a little confused by what Loaded is saying. The TA on the charts looks bullish, with a bullish pennant forming. It sounds like Loaded is saying the market is being manipulated upwards and so traders may want to hedge to the downside, which would go against his market buys. But really, I have no clue what he is saying.

Looks like a bullish pennant to me, too.
I don't like these kind of vague omens ...

windjc, to come back to this topic:
As a result of you talking about the interest rates on Bitfinex, I created an account to find out how it works.
I only see loans at about 0.15%/day, though - which doesn't add up to a yearly >400% interest. Am I missing something? Could you enlighten me?

Let's say I can get a daily interest rate of 0.15%:
1.0015^365=1.73 (73% interest)

rates dropped a lot in the last few days

Don't get me wrong: 73% interest is still A LOT, but 6 (SIX!) times less than 438%

If there is such a big fluctuation in interest rates, it isn't interesting to put out an "automatic loan" at a fix interest rate and just let your money sit there.
You'll almost have to manually adjust the interest rate every day, based on how volatile the market is.

What does it take to get rid of Gox. How much more fail is needed?
This is an american forum, people in china and japan still have alot of faith in Mt.Gox.
