What is with those weird big dump/buy patterns going on every so often?  Is that just someone strategically clearing around the strike price?

I've been wondering, too.

Attempts to trigger stops? Attempts to stop downward trend? rpietila?

I don't know. comments?

Maybe someone wants to avoid panic, but still want to proice to go down. Just not too fast - controlled demolition

Just a warning:

15 minutes ago I received an email from Mt. Gox with a requested password recovery link. Thing is, I didnt request this.
I now tried to log into my account with my old pw and it doesnt work.
I have 2-step turned on on gox AND my email account and nobody has access to my email account anyway.

This is at least strange and I just wanted to send this out as a warning.
Same on my account, wtf is going on?

I really wish the blockchained data could be parsed better than the last 15 days or 2 years.  It would also be nice to adjust the zoom better.

Is the historical depth data freely available anywhere? Or how did they manage to get it?

If you talking about charts data - BTCCharts have a module with archival orderbook (every hour).
Eventually you can rollover on trades in live orderbook module to see orderbook from that time (to the seconds).

I came across this interesting oddity on http://btccharts.com/
on one of the screens you can click on 'Top Traders' and up pops a window like this --

Clearly this is not data from Stamp (how would they get such data) but must be from btccharts users although I'm still not sure how they would harvest such data.

But it is interesting in terms of sentiment: out of the top ten seven are classed as bears.

Well we have been in a strong bear trend for weeks/months, so no wonder that those who traded and accepted the trend have done better.

This is new thing on btccharts - virtual trading. Those are NOT real positions. This is still uncomplete. Wait two more weeks (but you can play with it now if you wish).

https://xrptalk.org/topic/4156-email-from-justcoin-about-their-hacking/

"A network-wide weakness in how both Ripple and Stellar communicated transactions was exploited by an unknown third-party to to deposit false IOUs through Ripple/Stellar to Justcoin. These were consequently withdrawn to their own payment networks as native currencies. The result was that our hotwallets were emptied. Most of our customers' funds is in cold storage but the amounts were still significant. Justcoin will not operate as a fractional reserve and therefore we decided to lock down all services affected until we had a solution ready."

sentiment for me?
Ah simple Wink
If whale allow to buy into this wall (there's some on stamp) then he want BTC. If he want BTC, then he clearly don't let price go down even after this wall get bought.
This 3k-5k is not all he have. Rest of fiat will be used to rally up (as we seen there's at least 2.3k*360usd more)
