Any good theories on why China doesn't care about this?

Huobi price is still at $535.
Yesterday there was a huge sell order at bitstamp but it just disappeared and then there was a dump. Probably an insider or mtgox itself. Huobi is still @ 500 because the big seller is at bitstamp.

Double bottom at 380 and away we go

The disparity between the prices in Bitstamp, BTC-E, and Huobi tells me that there is a large holder dumping in bitstamp. If it was majority of the market dumping, the differences between prices in the exchanges will not vary that much. Question is when will that guy stop selling.

The comments on CNN's front page story really shows how the public is rooting for bitcoin to fail.
Boy, I can't wait to see those bashers' faces when we get to $10,000.

Anyway, you have to wait. We all will have to wait....  Undecided

I hope they interview this guy again in a few years:

It will be the same as the bashers who called it a dead ponzi after the first crash and then continued to call it a ponzi during the next boom. They have no interest in learning about it. I think it will take full blown currency crisis before they spend some time trying understand what Bitcoin is.
And that crisis is about to happen after the Federal Reserve tapers (They already started tapering). History tells us again and again that the stock market always crashes after rampant market intervention and manipulation.

I have a good feeling we've reached the bottom due to the volume. The 380-400 resistance held and the market rejected the downtrend when it got to that point indicated by the volume. The market has already considered mtgox bankrupt. If ever, mtgox comes back, it'll be an added bonus to drive the price up. I'd buy on dips right now.

If the price keeps rising much more that (possible) V formation will be toast

I'm expecting the daily news cycle will kick in around 4 hours hence and the news of the Gox subpoenas will send us back down for a while.

There have been so many bad news that the price became numb now. I don't think more bad news about gox will affect the market. We might see a very small dump but as this drags on, those dumps from bad news will get even smaller and smaller.

Gox ain't coming back. You don't recover from losing 744 thousand bitcoins.
There is still a chance, even though miniscule, that somebody will acquire or bail out mtgox.

Gold is up like 2.3% because of the Ukraine-Russia issue so why wouldn't bitcoin go up? 2.3% gain in one day is incredible for gold prices.

After months of depressing drops and dwindling values, can't some of us be happy for a few minutes that the price has popped up a little bit? Let us have our fun for a few mins.... Smiley

and at the very least I think we can all agree that this is the beginning of a trend reversal, which is the real reason why a lot of us are uber stoked Smiley

I think you're confusing opinions with emotion... I'm quite sure a lot of bears are happy with the rise in price, as a lot of them got in large positions of BTC when it dipped into the 400's.

They're now likely moving out of those positions.  That probably makes them quite happy to make such a nice profit in just under a week.

Well, I bought in the 400's too but I'm hodling until the next price mania. Supply is going to run out pretty fast.

There was 4,500 new BTT registrations yesterday. We just beat the March 7 high of 2,200. To put that into perspective BTT usually gets 500-700 registrations per day.

The jump in users suggest an interest in Bitcoin. New market players will enter. Fundamentals override technicals again. Value BTC with history of userbase rather than price history because it is the number of users who drive the price up in the first place. It is a very good indicator because new users take time to learn about Bitcoin before investing thus not pumping up the price immediately. It also gives us a measurement of interest in Bitcoin.

BTT = Bitcointalk?

Yes, please clarify what BTT is.

Regarding bitcointalk.org, if you click on the "MEMBERS" link, you'll see there are currently 271,709 members (a lot of sock-puppet/troll accounts, but still).  Is there a way to get the stats on membership vs time?  Is anyone tracking this?  It would be interesting to plot this curve....

Yes, Bitcointalk. You can see it for yourself on the main page. Scroll down to the bottom.

Just passing by to say 14-day RSI is at rock bottom again. It's a strong buy signal so lock and load and prepare for green candles.
